  4. I've got exactly the same as you....Tein's...17's.....255/40.....235/35. I have all the guards rolled...about $65 each guard. Mine only rubs when turning/dipping, such as exiting my drive (but only at certain angles). Mine is pretty slammed, (see avatar) I can measure if you want. cheers Ozzy
  5. WTF r u smokin'? read what the stupid little prick was doing.......170 in a 60 zone. Others have stated in this thread that it wasn't in residential area, it was an industrial area.....just like Fyshwick Industrial area in Canberra where about 6 months ago a poor woman and her daughter were killed on a saturday arvo by some dopey prick in an MR2 (I think).....he lived. U can't nor should you defend stupidity like that! Get him and like minded twits off the road for life!!!!!!!
  6. thanks for clearing that up Z. When you said 'ripped' I thought perhaps it was some sort of incident involving a large salt water crocodile or something. Gotta watch out for those GF's they're dangerous eh?
  7. Zdenko....um, how ? I've thought long and hard, but can't come up with a scenario. Go on, indulge us! cheers (everyone else reading this thread)
  8. I was riding my dirt bike in the sticks when some little prick came flying around a blind corner....I tried to get out of the way, fell off and he ran over me. He tried to help me up...I said I can't breath....he said you're probably winded....I said I'm not f*&$%n winded get help. It ended up I had six broken ribs...one or more of the ribs punctured my lung which is why I couldn't breath. When he ran over me, something on his bike ripped open my arm, grabbed my watch, ripped that off and smashed my wrist and then grabbed my wedding ring and ripped open and broke my finger....my hand was at a horrible angle off to the left. I was bleeding internally with almost all of the organs in my abdomen had some injury. They had to cut me open and fix everything up, and I ended up with 45 staples in my guts. Left a nice scar. I almost died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital and I was in ICU for fives day with a machine keeping me alive. The little prick skipped town and hasn't been seen since. Didn't even check to see how I was??? A couple of lessons I learnt..... 1. In a situation like this morphine is great!, cos phaaaark it hurt!! 2. motorbikes are pharkin dangerous 3. stick to cars 4. sniffy...you're funny Finally, if any of you ride, take care...u aint got much protection. cheers Ozzy
  9. Tks EnricoPalazzo. M3Boy...What EnricoPalazzo said...my last was referred to INASNT. With reference to your problems, it looks like you have them in hand. I admire your maturity. It is an admirable trait to take responsibility for your actions. Best of luck, and take onboard some of the valuable, MATURE advice given here by the more level headed members.
  10. a. I'm not surprised you don't remember. I guess some people are just more forgetful than others?? b. you probably have hassles with the cops because of your attitude. If you turn on the attitude when pulled over, the I am not surprised you have so much grief with them. c. why are u so angry?? Chill man! Ozzy
  11. Having owned a couple of V8's, an XU1, and now the GTSt, I have tried a shitload of different tyres. Including, Yokahamas (352 I think), Bridgestone eagers, blah blah blah blah. They were all great tyres for grip, but because of the softer compound, they didn't last for any more than a year. On the Skyline I went through all this question/answer/pricing crap in January this year, and arrived at the conclusion that I would try a middle of the road brand. I think it was in MOTOR magazine they did a run down on a heap of performance tyres and rated them albeit the opinion of the drivers they used. You may want to take a look at Federal SS595's. I.ve had them since Jan and they look brand new still. For those who like a nice looking tyre, they fit the bill, and they come in a wide variety of sizes i.e. 16, 17, 18 and they're working on 19 and 20's. As for aspect and width, you should be able to get almost any size you need. I have them front and back and am quite happy. To be quite honest, I don't think any but the softest compound tyres would be any good in the wet on a powered up GTSt. So you may as well not rip yourself off, and just take it easy in the wet. Cheers Ozzy http://www.federaltyres.com.au/news/release_ss.htm
  12. Warpspeed & Roy - You are obviously two level headed, mature blokes. Yeah, if it happened to me I'd be pissed off, and probably contest the impound. M3boy - If the police have a reasonable belief that you were drag racing, the you can have your car impounded up to ten days after the alleged offence. The law was specifically designed to combat illegal street drags, so get a lawyer, go to court and maybe you will get away with proving that you were just speeding. If they didn't charge you with speeding, then perhaps you will get away scott free. Good luck, and what the others said...tell the truth in court. Be true to yourself. INASNT - 1. We meet again my forum e-nemesis. It will make you happy that I have removed the GTR badges that were on my car when I imported it from Japan. (I know they annoyed you and caused you many sleepless nights, and I feel terrible for that) 2. Why are you so angry. The coppers do something to you? Why do you constantly preach anarchy to all and sundry on this forum. Your views are extremely left wing. As stated, if your car was stolen, who ya gunna call??....surely not those rotten coppers? 3. 13. eliter33, there is a bloke just around the corner from me that does a lot of performance cars...he's done a white gt-r...which is good, cos he's got left over paint for my car. He's done a few other lines also....and also a hell of a lot of Beemers and particularly Porsche's (Nations cuppers or something I think...they get bent often). PM me if ur interested, will give u details then.
  14. Don't mean to be rude......sorry this, sorry that. Guys you are being rude.....things change all the time....I don't see any prob in updating a topic. Give the guy a break! Sovereign....My advice is to.... a. get a car you can afford to insure, and thus build up your own no claim bonus. or b. get an import, bite the bullet and fork out for the inurance, and again build that no claim bonus. There are no shortcuts in life, and nothing is free and easy. You will get no where real fast having the car insured/owned by your father. This is exactly what I would advise my kids to do. Best of luck whichever way you go.
  15. can you hear your starter motor solenoid ??.....has any of the "experts" suggested the starter motor (and solenoid)?
  16. Folks.....it wasn't me! OK!....I checked, I've got a rear wing and BBS's (grin)
  17. Dan, half is better than none.....welcome
  18. people, people, people.....listen to me, I'm old and wise, and more importantly, I've done my research on petrols. There are only three 98RON fuels available for street legal road going cars in Australia (with the exception of some independents in Sydney which is probably half ethanol anyway), they are..... Mobil SYNERGY 8000 Shell Optimax and BP Ultimate .....THAT'S IT....don't take everything you read as gospel...check it out. The internet is full of good information....if you check the right places....folks, check out the petroleum company websites. Caltex (or Ampol) VORTEX is 95RON, but may be 96 in some outlets. Don't put this crap in your turbo import! My advice is don't use crap fuel and a bottle of dodgy octane booster either...they foul your plugs. If you can't afford the good stuff, then maybe you can't afford the car! The answer to timbar32's original question is.....if the Charnwood Shell is the nearest, go for the Optimax, or otherwise go to either Kingston or Phillip BP and get ULTIMATE (not premium, but ULTIMATE). I've used both Optimax and Ultimate, and have found no discernible difference at all! just my advice, don't bite my head off cheers Ozzy
  19. Any chance of posting a scanned copy on this forum or emailing it to me pse. tks Ozzy
  20. A couple more ideas.... 1. Your plugs may be loose or fouled. If you've used octance booster, that sh#t fouls plugs. 2. If you have an aftermarket BOV, you may have it too loose and be losing boost from there on hard acceleration. good luck Ozzy

(Ozzy) Guys, here is the reply from SHELL. I take it that there are many cynics among you, but have a read anyway. For what it's worth, I have given both BP Ultimate and Optimax a pretty good go each, and the only difference I can see is that I seem to get a slightly better economy with the Optimax. By the way...I do not work for SHELL. The original claims made on this forum (somewhat a little ambiguous to me) are contained within the ** (SHELL) In reference to Optimax it will keep its Ron unless there is significant evaporation and therefore we are confident to say that it will not lose its RON rating to 94 in 3-4 days. Optimax may be in tank for at least a week at some service stations therefore we would see an increase in complaints if this was the case. Therefore it would be good for you to verify the source of the claim as stated in the first point below. **1. A significantly shorter shelf life. So the ron rating will decrease below 94 after only 3-4 days.** (SHELL) Shelf life of Optimax is the same as for other types of petrol. It can be stored up to one year as long as the storage conditions are adequate, Containers used to store fuel for long periods of time should be filled to 95% full and capped tightly. Containers whould be stored out of direct sunlight and preferably kept below 27 deg C. This will help reduce the evaporation of teh petrol during storage and reduce exposure of the petrol to air and water. **2. That optimax is a heavier fuel, so why it is a higher RON its power delivery is hampened by the cleaning agents etc in the fuel.** (SHELL) In reference to the second point; The octane rating of Optimax is higher than the Premium ULP due to the fuel being blended from special high octane components produced by the refinery. Optimax is produced only at Shell refineries using high octane fuel components. The high Octane is due to the blended fuel and not the use of octane boosting fuel additive. Hope this enlightens the comments made.

    Petrol

Fair cop Carlo. I'll email Shell and ask them if that is possible. I know they will of course say naaaah, that's not possible. But surely they can't make claims of 98 RON if that is not the case after such a short period.?? Watch this space. cheers Ozzy

Sorry Carlo....nothing personal, but Jimx is right. Shell's website does in fact say that Optimax is min 98 RON. It's interesting to note that in the latest SPEED, the editor takes the piss out of these forums. I can see why. Lot's of posters THINK they know something, and don't base it on fact. All that is required is a little research before one opens one's mouth and blats on about something. I was bitten the first day I joined the forum, funny enough, it was on a topic regarding 'FUEL'. I stated this and that about 98RON fuels that were available in Oz, and mentioned Toluene....and the fact that I thought it was a carcinogen......well, all the experts on this forum came out of the woodwork, took me to the cleaners and said it wasn't blah blah blah. Fact remains, there are forms of Toluene that are carcinogens and I aint gunna gargle or wash with it. (for those who doubt me, check the NOHSC website). If I make a claim on this site, it is based on research info, not hearsay. Sometimes I wonder how many people have had problems with their cars because of erroneous information gleened from this and sites alike.....such as max boost levels??? All I can say is be careful....it's great to discuss these issues and each others experiences, but please check with an expert in the field before trying anything. (my view only....don't take the piss) cheers Ozzy
  24. According to the Mobil website, Mobil 'SYNERGY' actually covers five types of fuel. Gas, Diesel, LRP, Unleaded and High Octane unleaded. The high octane is called SYNERGY 8000, and is the third type of 98 RON fuel available in Australia. Don't confuse this with the Mobil Premium (apparently not in the SYNERGY range), which is only 95 RON. As you all may be aware, we live in the National Capital of Australia, which translates as the seat of Government.....only!. The PM doesn't even want to live here, why would oil companies be interested if us import junkies get decent fuel or not. The nearest place that I know of that sells the SYNERGY 8000 is the MOBIL half way between Sydney and Mittagong. Maybe we should lobby MOBIL to provide 8000 in Canberra???
