  1. pending an engine n.o. check i too was gonna grab this Oh well, rebuild it is i guess!
  2. Definitely an action packed day at Mallala. Best wishes and regards go out to the guy in the evo, was chatting to him for about 10-15 min in the staging area before the practice session when it happened and he was a really nice bloke. Hope he can salvage as much as possible from the wreck. My day went pretty averagely, running on semi's on the front and street tyres on the rear spun out 2nd lap of practice at the back straight hairpin my fault there didnt expect the car to be so loose in the rear. Got to the 4th lap when i noticed the water temp off the gauge and oil temp way too high. Pulled off went for a drive to cool her down and upon pulling into the pits found one thermo fan had died and the other just not moving enough air. Icing on the cake being because of it, it seems i spun a bearing . After that decided after 5 days working on the car to get it running i had to at least try and get it running and go out again so a big thanks to some of the pga guys who went back to adelaide to grab my clutch fan for me, got it on, got the car running again and ended taking it easy and running in the 4th session. Ran ok but was pretty smokey so called it a day. Final embaressment was stalling the car twice whilst loading it onto the trailer then getting off the clutch a bit quick and hitting the front lip on the trailer edge Plans are now to completely strip the car and rebuild it, clean the whole thing up and get it 100% and get out again, when its out again it'll be a very different kettle of fish! Anyway ,nice meeting some of you guys and apologies if i held anybody up in the practice lap / 4th session too as quite a few laps i was rather far off the pace, tried to get put into group B but they couldnt . Hope to see you guys again sometime when i've rebuilt the car, Cheers, Rob
  3. Quote for std slotted for the fronts of a R32 gtr early model please. Cheers, Rob
  4. About 2yrs ago they changed their policy i believe about under 25 drivers, the change meant that if you were under 25 and drove a performance car they would be less likely to insure your or would not at all. However i've been with them for some time now so i slipped in around this. According to my insurance guy at shannons if i were to try and get insurance now with them and i'd never had a policy with them before i'd be declined. Oh and for any performance car in most cases it needs to be in a locked garage for them to cover it too. Yup my policy's are in my name only. I too would hate to see my dad drive any of my cars as he's never driven a car with power + he's not the greatest driver as he's too carefull yet careless at the same time (drives slowly but carelessly). The most powerfull car he's driven was a 1.6L fwd pulsar.
  5. Big thumbs up for shannons here. Had a not at fault claim last year and everything was so silky smooth. Anyway my insurance: R32GTR - 17k agreed value, Premimum just over 1k (about 1060 i think, cant be bothered finding the paperwork), $500 excess 03 VW Bora 4motion - 20k agreed, premimum 860, excess 300 99 VT Wagon - 7k agreed, premimum 560, excess 300 (somebody buy me ) Pretty happy with what im paying since im 22, that said i've got a clean driving history and have never made an at fault claim! Dont forget guys, if your with shannons and have your cams license you get a 10% discount on your policy's!
  6. Loving the hot weather as it means i can head to the beach later on when its cooled off a bit, otherwise just have the house set to 23 and chilling inside. Went out earlier and couldnt believe how hot it was! Chris, leaving your windows down a bit definitely helps but 1cm prolly wont do that much Leather FTL in this weather
  7. Looks good Adam, RB26 ftw, now just let me steal your engine as its far newer than mine!
  8. Glad to hear it all went well Adam! How long till you get the car into Adelaide? When i brought the gtr from syd they reckoned 7days anywhere in aust, that said it was too low and i was too impatient so i just drove! Either way make sure to drop around when you get it, you can check out the dent free gtr while your at it too
  9. Just tried it again, realised that although my batteries new being in the boot it must have a fair voltage drop or something as its only turning over at about 140-150rpm. Possibly why the low compression?
  10. Hi All Recently i picked up a r32gtr and after replacing the turbo that had a blown oil seal its been driving really well. Out of interest i decided i'd do a compression test on it and these were the results 120 130 130 130 125 130 Now i know these are a bit low for the motor but they seem relatively consistent and adding oil to the cylinders only upped compression by about 10-15psi. The car drives well and feels to have a reasonable amount of power. Any ideas why the low compression and will it cause me any major problems? It doesnt worry me too much as down the track if the motor starts to die i'll rebuild it but for now im more curious what the causes would be of the lower compression (just worn rings etc?) Maybe dodgy tester? Cheers, Rob
  11. I'll grab them, just P.M. me with banking details and a postage price to Adelaide Cheers, Robert
  12. Pretty interested in the turbo's Postage cost to 5072? Cheers, Rob
  13. didnt know you were on sau rick! You know i'll be there! prolly in both the bora and the skyline!
  14. Same happens on my street on a regular occasion in the wee hours of the morning. Went out one morning and took a closer look, noticed that the van had a lcd monitor near the driver and and eventually picked out an advertiser logo inside the van. Figured that he works for the advertiser or another newspaper. Not sure what he's doing but hes around regularly and although acts suspiciously nothings happened in the year i've been seeing him so im not fussed. Maybe take his plates if your worried
  15. Hi Guys and Girls, I've been a member here for quite a few years but never really browsed or posted much as i previously didnt own a skyline. I however have had a bit of a nissan history. Started off with a 1.6L ga16de pulsar which i did a +t conversion on sold that and moved onto a GTI-R sold that and moved onto a VW Bora 4motion shortly after which i then bought a 99vt commodore as a daily (was going to boost the bora) Anyway recently i decided against boosting the bora and began the hunt for something else as a weekend / track car which brings us to the latest addition in my driveway, Pics: Edit: Just realised you guys cant see the pics if your not Pulsar Group of Australia members (they were linked from there) Later when i get home from work i'll pop them up again! That scrape on the right of the bumper in this pic pretty much polished out Saw it on carsales Sunday i think, made the decision to fly out on wednesday morning 4am, got there late wed morning, checked out several gtr's and this was the best buy by far considering price and condition etc etc. Left syd for the drive thurs night and got back last night! The Good Its a 1990 gtr with 112000km on the clock Koni Coilovers Wheels you see in the pics Trust Oil Cooler & filter relocation kit Front and rear 3 point strutbraces < 12 month old rebuilt gearbox < 12 month old exedy twin plate clutch Battery in the boot Excellent condition interior Shortshift The Bad, One turbo is munted but i'd already organised a replacement wed arvo i'll pick that up sometime this week Car has minor hail damage on the roof and boot, bonnet however has some decent hits being alloy and all thus will likely need replacing Striker plate for the drivers door latch needs to be welded up as the small crack that was there grew when i took a wrong turn and ended up on the bumpiest road known to man kind Has a few oil leaks from the oil cooler setup, sump and rocker cover which i'll get around to fixing shortly Short term plans are to clean it right up inside and out whilst the long term plans are to keep it clean and build it with track work in mind all whilst keeping the car as street legal and undefectable as possible. I look forward to meeting some of you guys and learning more about the skylines, Hopefully i'll be able to come out to a few meets too and get to know the S.A. guys in the near future! Cheers, Rob
  16. How i wish i saw this 3 days ago. I just picked up a 32gtr from syd on thurs and drove it back to Adelaide! If the above buyer pulls out, let me know via pm but preferably call me on 0423128994 Cheers, Rob
  17. Also very interested and will take one pending photos and km. Im in Adelaide, so postage would need to be to there. PM. Sent Cheers, Robert
  18. Nup with resistors and the "grey things" orientation doesnt matter (by grey things are you referring to the little rectangular ones marked like "104k100" ?) Cheers, Rob
  19. Damnn i feel like such an ass! it works now :D:D Again BIG THANKS to Resonance for the tip to look underneath the board! Dammit if you lived in S.A. i'd be buying you a few beers! Cheers, Rob
  20. Ahh shit closer inspection has revealed i missed a link! i put in a resistor and it was off to one side hiding the spot where the link goes! Found it by checking the underside of the board THANKYOU!!!! Now to solder it up and see if it works!
  21. Hmm would it be worth replacing all the ic's? just incase one is dodgy? im sure the main ic (IC3) is ok because the hand controller turns on fine and comes up with all the text etc so i wouldnt replace that. Good/Bad idea? Cheers, Rob
  22. Anyone had problems with their DFA's? I've got mine all done, got a yr 12 electronics teacher to check it over and its not working! Power the unit up and the display on the hand controller lights up and looks normal. The problem is that i cant calibrate the dfa! No matter what i do the voltage at tp2 is around -4.8v @ 12v supply or up to -6v at 13.8v supply. I can play with the adjustments at VR1 till the cow's come home but the voltage at tp2 doesnt change at all. The output voltage also refuses to budge from -.68v. Again i can play with the trimpots all day with no effect on anything there. Adjusting the values in the hand controller also net no change in output voltage! Changing the input voltage also doesnt make the hand controller change its input position, it wont budge from 1! HELP this is driving me nuts, i spent 3 hours last night double checking every single connection, i've had my old electronics teacher check it over and we cant figure out what the hell is screwing up!!! He suggested either its a dud and possibly has a stuffed ic but how on earth would've that happened! im always very carefull handling ic's and have never killed one! Please save my sanity! Rob
  23. My hand controller, dfa, cable and book all arrived this morning Big thanks go out to shan for all his effort in organising this Cheers, Rob
