  1. I was doing some research and seems like a bank cheque would be better than me paying them cash upfront then doing the paperwork incase they run off? lol.
  2. Thanks for letting me know. So the paperwork is essentially fake?
  3. Hey all, I had a bit of a silly question. I am getting closer to buying my car, and was wondering to make sure the owner is the owner of the car I just need to check the rego paper right? Also how does it work if 2 family members have the same first and last name? I've worked in a job where that was common. I guess I would check signature of driving license and one that the owner signed on the rego paper? Also wondering if it's worth doing a written statement as well that they sold me the car and taking a picture of their driver license on the paper along with mine. I think I've covered everything?
  4. I just re-read what you wrote and see what you mean, because at the shop there probably was a slight tilt.
  5. I did on my driveway should be straight. I got some photos here: With picture 3, I might have held it upside down so keep that in mind but generally it's showing as image 1-2, and you can see some red fluid towards the full line.
  6. I let my Subaru impreza 2.0 ltr automatic 2001 sedan get to operating temperature (or I shouldn't be using this as a measure for the tranny?) and it was idling and was showing transmission fluid is low (apparently wasn't running for long enough), there are no leaks and when I drove it to the shop which took about 10 minutes or less, I checked a few times and the level seemed fine, but when I got home it was low. Seems like the reading is constantly different, I checked on another car I have at home and similar story. I also put the car in neutral and hand break up. Any ideas?
  7. Do you mind if I asked, who you insured with? All the big guys like NRMA, Alliance, etc have the EXACT same car value estimate system, it's like they just borrowed it from each other lol. Apprently a silvia is worth 13k or so. Muppets.
  8. Enthusiast online wouldn't even give me a quote!
  9. I don't know how you managed to do that. you must be 40+ excellent driving record and car garaged all the time lol
  10. ah ok thought so, cheers. I just was thinking about insurance and did one quote and they couldn't give me one, fml. I tried shannons a while back and they are complete rip off, wanted a few thousand dollars to insure a silvia s15 turbo. Unless i get 3rd party but not worth it probably for a 30k+ car if its NA silvia for example
  11. Just wondering, if they are with a different bank, it might take a few days for money to go to their account, do they usually want to wait until that money is in their account or does the bank just give them a receipt? Also with the papers, correct me if I'm wrong but there is only 1 paper they need to give me which is the rego paper?
  12. Thanks mate. I'd be more than happy to do D haha. Now just hope I don't get screwed over lol. I did have the idea of taking it to a track. The guilt would eat me alive if I were to crash someone elses car lol.
  13. Ah thought it might be the purple one so you're selling the silver one to? I love r33's with the gtr spoiler, the silver one looks sexy. The purple would probs look even better if it had it + the gtr front bumper
  14. Thanks for that. Just curious what car you got? Seems like a skyline of sorts? you have some rb25det threads. Feel free to DM me a pick or two then once I'm ready I'll ask more questions. Don't want to ask you too many questions so I don't waste your time if I change my mind.
  15. Hey all, So I want to buy something like an r33 or a Silvia in the future, though I had some questions and needed your thoughts on some stuff: Driving manual - I've only driven manual a handful of times in my old Silvia and it's been 2 years roughly since I've driven it, if I've got no one to go with me, do you think it's a bad idea if I get the owner to do the test drive given that he does the tests that I ask him to do, like for example shifting at high rpm to make sure there is no gearbox crunches? I was thinking of getting a couple of manual lessons again if i decide to test drive it. The paperwork & paying them - When it comes to paying them, cash will be too much so I'd rather go to the bank and transfer them the money. I was worried about it getting stolen or some crap after signing the paper work, should I get them to bring the car to the bank with me and we sign the paperwork in the bank after me transferring them money onto their account? I'm worried about potentially getting screwed over. Also when it comes to the paper work, from memory i sign one half, they sign the other, and i keep one half. is this correct?
  16. Hey guys so I checked it out and everything is sweet. Air filter dry as a bone, oil at exact same full level and isn't milky, coolant fine as well. Didn't bother to check transmission will assume its fine. Won't be doing that again lol.
  17. Thanks also btw all, you guys are always helpful & quick, is always appreciated.
  18. Yeah the car didn't stop or turn off, just lost power in the water.
  19. Yeah it did, no issues. Will check tomorrow morning, really don't want all those years of looking after my engine to be wiped out in 5 minutes by my own stupidity, haha.
