  1. This is what a friend of mine could see apart from the obvious stuff: sales points rear spoiler air pack (?) silver aftermarket 5spd (maybe) hope that helps. blacky
  2. Very good, shouldnt be too hard at all! I dare say (and ppl correct me if i'm wrong) that *some* RAWS may overlook the injectors if they look stock and fuel pressure regulator too. Don't quote me though! In any case, easy job. Blacky
  3. What DOTARS says goes. They're the authority responsible for this stuff, so if they say you can get compliance, you can get compliance. Keep a note of who you spoke to and the date just in case anyone contests what you're saying. I think the RAW's wont give you any trouble if you've got DOTARS behind you. Just a side note, now that its going to be complied under SEVS, that means it has to come back to stock. Have you got much aftermarket gear on there?? Would be a pain to have to take whatever you've got off, but I suppose it wont matter - you'll be too happy that its even getting complied Good luck again! Blacky
  4. This doesnt sound so bad after all because two workshops have given you the OK on condition of producing some very attainable documents. Thanks to Beer Baron you've already got a decent invoice (and yes thats how they really do look) and a de-reg paper is either gettable or photo-choppable (?). If you need the import approval, DOTARS should be able to give out a copy. I'm looking at the invoice for my last Skyline. Its an Excel spreadsheet, thats how simple they are. I could change the price to whatever I wanted (handy for customs hey ). To make it a little more beleivable, lay it out nicely and put some cool phrase like "Principal: XXXXXcompany This is to confirm our Principal Sale to you as Buyer, and your Purchase from our Principal as Seller, of the undermentioned goods subject to the following terms and conditions." thats what mine had on, sounds good, adds realism. Blacky.
  5. Without knowing every detail here, I would venture to say that you should be okay. Contrary to every backyard importer on here, DOTARS aren't too bad. Explain to them (nicely) whats up and make clear that you have a valid import approval and they should be able to help you, after a bit of nagging and red tape. Sounds up-in-the-air but don't get too disheartened - everyone who's imported a car has their own horror story. And in the end, whats the worst that can happen? You maybe sell it on as a track only car (And i know all about destroying or re-exporting, so smartarses can neglect to reply) and get some money back. Good luck. Blacky
  6. Awesome, that means that a reasonable saving can be made on modified SEVS cars - lets forget getting the workshop to remove a/m parts. So that brings me to my next question - a compliance workshop has to apply for the SEVS import approval - is that correct? I last brought in a 92 Soarer and that was handled completely by the broker/compliancer. They apply for the approval stating that they'll be the ones complying it and then the approval is granted.Am i far off here? Sorry if this is treaded ground but DOTARS doesn't get down to this level of detail. Blacky
  7. Hey all, Havn't been in the import forum (or on SAU) for ages, feels good to be back. Now that SEVS is the dominant compliance rule we use, I have come up with a question i can't find an answer for. If I remember right, when you are going through an import broker, they arrange for the compliance shop to request the compliance plate. Then your car goes directly from the docks to compliance. Correct? So what happens when you are importing your own SEVS car, direct from a supplier in Japan? Do you still have to have the car taken directly from the dock to compliance (is there some kind of rule?) or can you take the car home first? (Primarily to rip the aftermarket parts off yourself ) I Imagine this would make a big cost difference if possible.... Anyone? Blacky

  11. Hey guys, Well i'm onto my next drama with my new skyline, we installed a new Revspeed atmo BOV onto the car but I just cannot get it to function correctly. Heres the setup. 1. 5c piece size hole cut into cooler pipe to manifold. 2. about an inch of 1 inch pipe welded around the hole 3. small section of 90 degree radiator hose clamped over pipe, other end clamped onto BOV (the port that pushes on the piston) 4. vacuum source at manifold - we used the source between the throttle body and AAC valve on the passenger side of the manifold (theres two hoses, its the upper one) 5. 4cm of vacuum pipe from there to metal tubing that follows cooler piping down to the BOV. 6. hose clamped to metal piping then run to vacuum nipple on BOV (the line is quite thick, like fuel hose thickness 1/4 in) I know its not the best setup (ie. no welding) but now the problem is that no matter how much boost I run, the valve just wont open - instead i get the same compressor surge that I did before the BOV was installed. Its like there isnt enough vacuum to pull the piston off its seat or the hole we cut into the cooler pipe is too small, thus not allowing enough air to push the piston open. Can anyone shed some light on where i might have gone wrong? The car is an r32 gtst with an HKS turbo, runnning either 0.5 or 1 bar of boost. thanks in advance! Blacky.
  12. Guys, THROTTLE BODY. Get your cooler piping off it, spray carby cleaner all over and behind the butterfly valve and let is soak. Wipe out as much as you can then start the car up and go for a drive. So much detritus accumulates there over a cars life and it can really affect performance AND IDLING. My idle has stabilized and i no longer stall on trailing throttle after cleaning out the TB. Blacky.
  13. Hey guys, I swear theres already a thread on this for WA but where it is i don't know.. So i'll just ask again My R32 is just getting registered, and once ive paid for all the little things i'd like to have the numerous chips and scrapes done as well as having a small break in my sideskirt repaired. So I was hoping you could all reccomend your favourite shops. I need to be able to trust them with my car as I will be out of town while its being done. Also price is a consideration so not too cheap or expensive! Thanks guys, Blacky

  15. Hey all, Got my R32 finally, and i am experience a heap of backpressure surge on gearshifts - due to not having a BOV. I'm not really happy about this as the car is running higher than stock boost (i THINK it may be about 0.7 bar?) and I want to ensure the turbo has an easy time. Have a Trust front mount too. I am not into the loud atmospheric BOV's so would like to put a stock plumb-back on. What I need to know is, which of the stock Skyline BOV's will be suitable to handle that kind of boost? Specs and opinions would be great! Thanks, Blacky
  16. Hey guys, Looking for a standard R32 plumb back BOV or similar that can handle around 1 bar. Am willing to pay small amount and pickup in Perth (and will also take for nothing if you're chucking it out ) Thanks, Blacky
  17. Thanks for the info Dayne, I'll do that in the end if i can't get part numbers. The problem is i need to replace them as the ones in there are not stock (so would have different part numbers, right?) and will get me failed at the pits... so need stockies! Blacky
  18. Hey guys, I'm sure this has been asked before but after searching there was too many conlicting opinions - so can someone please tell me the part numbers for the front high and low beams and reverse globes for a 1990 GTS-t? Again, sorry if its been asked! Blacky
  19. Your 6x9's should come with a cut-out template. Mark that onto the underside? i tihnk of your parcel shelf or remove it rather than doing it in car. Drill some holes evenly around the perimeterof the ellipse you just marked onto the board. Then use a holesaw or jigsaw to cut the shape out, hole to hole. Mount the speakers in their holes. Drill the supplied self tappers through the holes in the speaker body and into the shelf. Wire it up, which wire to which terminal wont really matter. Clean up. Done. Goodluck, blacky
  20. How nice is the engine! 33's are still whales though, even if its Do-Luck! Blacky
  21. Even though you shouldn't be paying a cent to this guy, its often not worth trying for more as they usually know how to be dodgy, sly pricks. I'd say just take 50%. blacky
  22. pm sent mate, cheers! blacky
  23.
