  1. Yeah, morley Quickfit are supposed to be excellent. My bro sent me there with my last car for some exhaust work, they killed the others on price and knew what they were on about too. Reccommended. blacky
  2. A thread just popped up on here recently - someone (Bones?) setup a server to download the 32 Manuals in PDF. Do a search or just go back a few pages, should be able to find it. blacky
  3. could you soften the adhesive with a haridryer/heat gun?
  4. Personally, when i first get a car i like to do everything that doesnt involve major mech work: oil & oil filter coolant flush coolant change spark plugs leads brake fluid trans oil diff oil theres more but thats the core items. usually ends up costing about $250-300 but you can forget about all of them except oil for at least a good 6 months.
  5. mate don't stress - if it was a handheld gun and they didnt wave you off the road then their gun didnt show you as going over the limit. It'd either be they werent pinging you, or their gun or your speedo or a combination of both is out. dont stress..
  6. My car is waiting at Nagoya - that would go some way as to why its missing boats.
  7. update, my car missed the december boat as did most others that were queued up. bit bummed but not the end of the world. Hopefully make the next one...
  8. looked for the vac bags but no luck, strangely...? As you say, the exterior is going to be fine, as it will be under a cover and garaged. I was thinking that maybe the internals will seize if its not exercised regularly. So i suppose if I give it some nice new oil, and have it turned over and warmed up every week it should be ok. Keeping the fuel down and just topping it up every week or two would keep it clear. But i always thought there was more too it, like with rotaries you oil the inner parts of the engine.
  9. Okay, need some tips regarding long term storage. The car is only going to be in my possession for about 2 weeks before i fly off to Europe for 6months. Once the compliance work is done, i want to prepare the car for storage. I want it to be completely looked after, if you will, in that i want it to be good when i get back. What should I do? I'm going to put all new fluids and oils in all round, but in particular, I'm worried about the engine. What can i do to ensure its happy for 6 months unattended? Any other ideas for tyres, interior etc are also needed. It will be in a closed garage, and can be started periodically if needed. thanks in advance! blacky
  10. Go to dick smith, jaycar or similar and buy a learning remote. They can replace a lost or damaged remote. Shouldnt be more than $30
  11. they look like volks to me, but i cant really see em. more details on the car please!
  12. Nismoid i cant really agree with you on the leniency of WA's car modification regulations - true you can get permits for certain things like strut bars, one intake mod and so on, but its just like any other state in most other respects - atmo BOV - Yellow Sticker. too low - Yellow Sticker. Police officer doesnt like the look of your car - Yellow Sticker. They are as tyrannical here as anywhere else. But i do agree that the rules have become rubbish - they started with the prefectly good intention of maintaining acceptable levels of safety in roadgoing vehicles, but have evolved into little more than a tool that can be used to take cars off the road that popular opinion dictates as 'unsafe' (read anything thats even remotely powerful or non-stock.)
  13. Tyler, i got them from A&B Autos out in Bayswater. Pretty friendly guys-gonna ring em this week to get an idea on the installation. you gonna buy a pair man?
  14. racsov500, from importer and auciton report its got IHI steel turbo, tanabe coilovers, pod, dual stage boost controller, timer, half cage, GTR front mount, GTR body kit, wheels as u can see, HKS ECU, big exhaust... theres more but cant remember. imperium, it set me back 550,000Yen FOB. Should be about $11,000 on road with DIY compliance. dont think it has spacers Leigh, if you look at auction photos, the bonnet is flat in place. prob just open for inspection.
  15. its the government man, if they want to make your life difficult, they dont need the law...! theyll just bury you under a mountain of paperwork or ignore you.
  16. Bought some r32 anti-intrusion bars on friday. Was $130 for both (the car is a two door), which includes the actual bars and the brackets that weld to either end. Very good buy, if i get it ready for welding myself, should have intrusion bars installed for $250 max. Sweet!
  17. So from what you've said, mine is definitely a piggyback & unprogrammable? Thats fine by me, as long as the car runs well. But I cant really understand how a non-programmable ECU could get the most out of a modified car... i mean, it only seems like a bit of an insurance policy for when you up the boost level. I understand how its better than running a stock ECU. Would i be right in saying that all the non-programmable fuel ECU's (like mine) do is dump way more fuel than normal to stop the engine leaning out? (that being said, i'm glad its in there )
  18. yeah it looks pretty dated hey, definitely late 80's/early 90's.. am very interested to see what sort of tune its actually running. For a bit of background, i'd say the computer has been put in to accomodate the IHI turbo. What came first the ecu or turbo i'm not sure, but apparently it is a very, very quick machine due to the uprated turbo. so anyway, its possible that this could be one of the first F-CON's? I'll do my best to hide it, but the thought of having my insurance nulled due to it is plaguing me somewhat... will wait till it gets here and see what can be done (the pic is pre shipping, so the flare is still there) so how does the SA go Evo? are you tuning it yourself via the navigator? Sounds nice, HKS is usually pretty good. ( for the help btw)
  19. Whoa, good work! I'm definitely interested in fact im connecting now. Im on 512 ADSL. ftp wants a password though...? *edit** oops had username in caps... thanks again, yes you rule
  20. Thanks for the comments. I won the auction end of November, and i find out this week if its on the boat. So it hasn't really been that long, maybe a month.
  21. Hey all, Just thought I'd put up some pics of my 89 r32 gtst, bought it in J about a month ago, arriving soon. here they are: Comments welcome! blacky
  22. For a different perspective, geographically anyway, this does'nt seem to be the case over here in WA: R33's, while very common, will sell relatively stock for around the $15-17k mark. R32's are still pretty rare here (how about you other states?) and as such are fetching pretty high prices. When they are for sale (never!) they get snapped up pretty quickly. Perhaps people over here have a different buying mentality (I can't really see how they would...) or other states have a shitload more imports, but yeah, its quite a healthy market here atm. any interest hipster?
  23. mmmgtir is on the money, ring dotars. *personally* ive seen many a car be loaded before its been approved and everything worked out OK.. but then again i've also heard they can roll your car off the back of the boat and into the sea if it cant be imported....? hopefully not true.
  24. thx evo_lee, very helpful. so then i'm thinking mine is just an F-CON V? only because of the way its mounted...(ie hooking up to the factory ECU?) I think the only reason i'd be taking out the fcon is for pits/compliance - i'll definitely just put it straight back in to get the car running well again. I cant see my self swapping it over or even tuning it, i'd rather just leave it the way it is and not spend any more $. where would i find a loop connector, or is it a matter of making one up? blacky
