Klippan seatbelts- part number?
blacky replied to predator's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
good for you Predator, if you can get away without having to change them try it! As if japanese factory fitted seatbelts are any less safe than some 3rd party ones that people install at home later on...one of the worst parts of the compliance process i think. -

Phat if you want to buy tyre placards, go and see Paul at Autoworx in Wangara, he's got them pre printed ready to stick on. Or you can just make them yourself - get someone on here to give you the figures on it (i havn't got one sorry) then make one up in word, photshop whatever, print it out, and contact it onto the car if you cant find another way to stick it on. -
What comes with owning a GTR?
blacky replied to pentae's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
before I actually started getting into the Skylines i thought they were common, plain pieces of shite, being that Perth streets are filled with maroon and white r33's and not much else (plus I was severly uninformed!) thenwhen i started looking around for my next import, voila, r32... so yeah, alot of people dont know too much about them, any of them, so just write em off or ignore em. -

For Tyler and PHATR32, DRIFTT knows more than me but i'll put up what i know you need *you NEED a restrictor in the filler neck (LRP still sold here) *you may/may not have to change front belts (look for the label as mentioned earlier) *you will have to change rear belts (if you have them/are going to keep them) they are most probably going to be just lap belts, requires lap-sash (goes across your chest) *you may not have to change your *drivers side* mirror, depending on whether it is convex or flat (convex=must change) passenger side can remain convex. *you MUST fit side intrusion bars if not fitted from factory - some 89 models have them factory, but i think most don't? (Skylines def don't) *you need to securely attach a tyre placard to the vehicle (door jamb or under bonnet usually) and also an "unleaded fuel only" sticker somewhere near the filler. ---EDIT--- *you must fit child restraint anchor points if the car is capable of carrying a baby capsule (pretty sure 2 seaters arent allowed to, so you dont have to fit them) Most skylines have them done through the rear parcel shelf. *you'll also need a high mount stoplight if your car doesnt have one. If theres one in the spoiler , upper tailgate, or inner windscreen that will suffice, otherwise you'll have to mount one (easy) see earlier post i know i'm forgetting some things, and this is only from personal experience... -
Rollcage Legality
blacky replied to blacky's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
cheers Duncan, hopefully it'll be similar over here! I was dead set on ripping it out and getting some seats but its sounding like so much trouble. Think I might have to go the flat floor. DRIFTT, how is it done? -
Rollcage Legality
blacky replied to blacky's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
A RAW was involved as I often ask the guy that owns it for advice, as he's helped me out numerous times. His "no way" call was actually in regards to the 2-seater idea - if they see that its meant to be a 4 and its just had the back seats ripped out, then they'll bar you. Again its just talk atm, until it actually goes over. DRIFTT, I know what you mean in that its the inspectors not the workshops when it comes to these things - my last car had multiple things that the RAW said wont pass (pits) but he signed it off because thats got nothing to do with compliance. If i intend to register it as a 2seater, wouldn't it be OK to just leave it in, the way it is? Its only a half cage and doesnt even come near the front seats...? to be honest i want to rip the bloody thing out and just get some rear seats in there, but finding them is proving problematic. cheers for the replys too! -
Hey all, The R32 comin in from J has a rear half-rollcage, just wondering on the legality of keeping this in the car/if it will make it over the pits? A few people have said "Yeah, its fine", while a RAW workshop said "there is absolutely no way they will let that over" The rear seat has been removed, and i don't mind registering it as a 2-seater if neccessary In Western Australia. blacky

if you dont wanna fork out for towing just ring up the DPI here in Perth and get a temporary movement permit. Tell them your'e going from Freo to wherever else you wanna go (mates houses to show it off? ) then to your house. It costs $14.95, pay by credit card, and it lets you drive it as soon as its ready! -
Adjusting Number plates??
blacky replied to taj's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
i think it has to be visible from 20m at a 45 degree angle wherever you fit it. so if it passes that test its ok. -
Hey man, good to hear your into the 15 year olds (cars that is) but to be honest I dont think there would be that many people who let a stranger drive their car at face value. Its a bad situation for you, but you cant really blame them. Also, youd be pretty lucky to get a decent r32 landed for $10,000. Possible, but unlikely. 180's on the other hand - you could get one for less than that easily. Just take the plunge, choose which car you like and go for it! You'll love it regardless

Adjusting Number plates??
blacky replied to taj's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
a - as cs180 says bend the ends up/behind till it fits b - relocate the mounting device c - go to your local sign shop and get a sticker equiivalent made up. the sticker i'd say is the neatest bet, it will look great. A friend of mine had no room on his FD to put a plate so he jsut had a sticker made. Its not *that* legal so youd have to check but hey, stops u having to muck around with your bar! blacky -

steve ask ucb if you can use direct deposit, straight to their account over the internet. I did it with my broker (Intergroup) on my last car. Made things that much easier. If i remember right the steam cleaning place is part of the docks, or at least not far away. Mine didnt need a clean even though it was dusty as, and some Japanese cricket creature was living between the coil packs... -
I dont like them! I want the interior to be as factory as possible, as least all from skylines. what are the options on getting different front seats? Is it cheaper to have them put in the car in japan (loose, not fitted) or just find some here? aaarrgh!
-
from an r32? hopefully some better ones werent swapped out for these!
-
Hey all, Have an r32 gtst coming in from Japan soon, and was going over the pics I have of it. Looking at the auction sheet, i think it says something about gtr seats, but looking at these, they dont look very gtr to me... can anyone tell me if these seats are the original gts items or something else? thanks blacky (oh and as you can see it has no rear seats (driftpig), if anyone knows of any in Perth let me know!! )

DEH aircon update
blacky replied to cowie165's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
its true that customs brokers have us by the SAC, as does anyone who you rely on to perform a service that you cannot do otherwise. The only way to get past it is of course to not use a broker. Its doable, but I cant say i know many people who have done it or would be willing to risk delays and problems. be good if we could get someone on here who has done it by themselves to guide us through the process. Anyone? -

D.i.y Compliance
blacky replied to DAN00H's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
hey steve, yes WA regs require a high mount stoplight be fitted if the car was manufactured after June 1989 (i think). You dont always have to put one in, as alot of cars already have them on (a mates oct rx7 had one built into the tailgate). if you need to put one in, just goto bigw or kmart/supercheap etc, buy a nice slimone that can mount to your inner windscreen. mount it up and run the wires down through the trim and tap you brake light wires.easy!
