  1. Well finally done one of my good friends builds. My buddy mikey brought me this car after being dynoed with sooooooo many sketchy issues. With 100 hours of time and fabrication this gtr is back on its feet and being remote tuned tomorow!
  2. Well good mate mikey’s car is turning out great after removing all the rubbish from his engine. Can’t believe what that shop did to him. That’s why he brought it 350km to have it done right and retuned! There was many boost leaks, kinked vacumm lines, no mounts or cars taken on anything. Can’t wait to finish this girl up we are waiting for parts again.ceramic coating the exhaust manifold, neW down pipe, bigger wastegate 60mm,intercooler pipe on that side, ceramic coat the intercooler pipes black, cast elbow welded on the compressor of turbo. Then send. First picture is how it came....if your following the thread look above at the issues this car came to Me with it was nuts!
  3. I believe out of every place in the world that builds gtr’s Canada is on the low end of it all. Yeah there’s always gunna be a few good shops but for the most part nothing major. Like boost factory in Calgary is good, couple places in Ontario. We aren’t so bad ourselves.....other than that I haven’t seen anything that great comes out of canada
  4. Yeah good old gtr was still spinning it not blowing belts somehow. Thanks for the info Ben yet again. And as far as the Canadian shops go they only follow the scene. People wanted cheap work that’s what they got and that’s the attitude that arose. People are more worried about what kind of oil cap and steering wheel they have rather than the setup of the car. I’m serious it’s kind of embarrassing that’s why I’m only on this site and don’t partake In Canadian crap what so ever. I hide in a hole yet everyone comes with there gtr. Here’s another one I had to fix that was mangled. This car now is actually pretty dope and finished now/catchcan and everything is on it now and tuned.
  5. So yeah this is all the shinanigans a guy has to go back and redo everything for his mate so he can have a nice reliable gtr again. Nice to be on the other end of it for once and watch someone else spend there money haha. The gtr itself is awesome and fun to work on as its kind of beat up a bit but hauls ass and has a good strong motor.
  6. This was the intercooler piping they charged him 2k for. Actually robbery. It’s a shame people bering there cars to me to be fixed out of my garage instead of to “shops”. that’s the level of work we get around here at shops it’s pathetic....that’s why I bought all my own fabrication stuff and hubs because I pretty much had too if I wanted to stand a chance...Leaking at 4 psi in about 25 spots. Leaking from welds, cuplers, throttle shaft, rubbish. I don’t even know how they dynoed this thing!
  7. These were some of the issues.... There was one plug going to the tps which was not extended and plugged in. I posted a picture of the plug. The car seemed to run ok without it but I extended the harness and plugged it in. Just trying to figure out the actual function of this specific plug as I know the tps has 2 plugs going to it. The dust cap that was pissing out oil was pretty funny/sketch as hell......
  8. Well my motor is down again just waiting to get my head back from machine shop as we had a head gasket failure. In the mean time I was brought a car from my friend who just got his car back from a shop here and wow did they hack it up and charged him 15k! He brought it to me as it was “feeling funny” and hitting 26psi when target was 14. Wastegate was stuck shut, they used windshield washer line for vacuum line all over the motor. They fried his powersteering pump as the resevior was right by turbo and they left the Hicas fins in so I made a new resevior and smacked a new pump on there.Rad hoses falling off and cracked, front prop shaft bolts were in backwards and the shaft was loose. No wheel alignment after Hicas removal and it was walking like a crooked dog. I could keep going on how he paid 2k for intercooler pipe that looks like it was done blind folded. Crank pulley had a 3” chunk out of it. So I got a good project on my hands for a bit while I wait for some stuff for my car. Going to make some new piping with hdi clamps and make his beauty a solid reliable unit.My jdm space is nice right now.
  9. Or should I try a tomei one again? I may have screwed up putting the last one on......
  10. Seeming how I don’t really want to make any power with this block would there be any benefit to me running a oem headgasket if possible? I am bored out to 86.5 but it seems like it will clear a stock headgaskst as I have one lying around.
  11. Yeah standard, also I backed the studs out three quarters turn before doing the nuts and washers. I dunno maybe there was some fluid down there when I put them in now that you say it
  12. that being said i feel i could still run that block for the summer i might try it one more time haha. fak it
  13. this is all fine and dandy but a little out of the budget i was thinking rb30 run it at 650whp call it a day. can get them from prp with a brace for a decent price... Platinum Racing Products - Platinum Prepped RB30 Block
  14. If I was rich I would send it and see what it could handle, but my heads still good so I’m going to be smart while im ahead. Behind....but ahead. When your oil looks like a toilet bowl at a cheap motel. Lol
  15. I think the crack could of been there before yes Duncan. And no the crack is near the middle on exhaust side on the deck. I bet I could run it but it wouldn’t last. I used new studs and gasket
  16. I have weird luck because I have an sti at 500hp stock motor that I just can’t kill. All my stock rb26 lives well at 500whp. The moment I ever build a motor they always break Haha. I should stick to tree cutting lol. This block snapped at 22psi that’s a joke to me. The rb let me down bad this time.
  17. I say this with a good Attitude, I love my car it’s an absolute animal and it handles great but damn the rb26 just doesn’t have the meat it needs to be strong and other than the sound and the power they “can” make I struggle with the fact of how thin they are. Compare it to a 5.9 Cummins it’s just hilarious haha I know it’s apples and oranges but the theory of overkill to me is awesome. Anyway cheers for everyone’s help throughout. I will be back just need to make a solid plan. More attention to detail on the next what ever that’s for sure.
  18. I sware by the stock motor buddy, the motor before this built one was a stock beast! It was killed by a triple plate clutch or I guarantee it would be still going. Found this little guy too today...like gtsboy said it’s probably gunna crack on the other side....already was lol. I don’t feel I should continue with this block as my pistons and everything else are still good and could go in a new block. I can get a brand new block for 3600 Canadian dollars from boost factory here in Calgary.
  19. The block was cracked on outside right from the start I don’t think the prp brace could help it was to late. Thet cracked is fixed with jb weld. And here’s a photo of what I think is the blow out in the head gasket. Can even see little burn marks. I compared it to the gasket I knew was good when I pulled this motor apart the first time to fix the valve guide that was leaking and the old head gasket doesn’t show the same signs as blow out...
  20. After some thorough inspection we cannot find anything at all wrong with the head or block. how ever we did find an area of the tomei head gasket that looked complete blown out. ive done many never had an issue but this car seems to bring out the worst in eveyone so maybe i pooched it. throwing another head gasket in and trying it. thanks for the help and support. cheers
  21. i had so much coolant dripping from plug 5 and 6 i just put them back in and walked away
  22. well fired her up and the jb weld did its job great! only to force a bunch of coolant into cylinder 6 and 5.....so yeah im bunged for now and will confirm whats wrong. im guessing head gasket or cracked internally block. oh well.
  23. im about 3 hours away from filling it up with fluid and trying it out again for the 73rd time. if it doesnt over heat or leak ill be happier than pig dung. if she over heats ill be pulling the plug on this engine and getting a prp rb30 i think, if its gunna go wrong it will for me hahah so i gotta go with something stronger. ive debating doing the jz swap a few times now...
