Ha ha, will i ever need this part again? i am actually considering shipping it to you. You guys have been so helpful to me. The last picture i took: if you are standing outside of the car looking at the front bumper, then it is on the left side. It is right next to both of the BOV's. I think from the factory there was another tube that connected the duct tape part to the BOV's.

Tapping, knocking, marble like sound coming from engine
kevboost7 replied to kevboost7's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Thanks for helping me sleep better at night. I have a bad habit of hopping on this forum too quickly in hopes that you guys would share some good news about my problems. I just replaced the red coilpacks with PRP R35 coils and the noise is gone. -

Alright so at the same time this tapping sound is happening, i'm also chasing a misfire from those red coil packs. On my way home from the store just now, it started misfiring really bad. I drove straight home immediately. The car was shaking at the stop light but it eventually went away when i started driving it. Could the tapping/knocking and the misfire be linked? When i say misfire, it acts like it dosent want to go past 4000k RPM for a few seconds and it eventually breaks past it and will drive normally. This happens very sporadically but on 50% of my drives. Spark plugs are already changed. -
Alright forum gods, i need your help again. RB26 just recently started making this very light tapping/knocking noise in the engine. It almost sounds like a bunch of marbles being tossed together. It just recently started happening or i might be going crazy because i didn't notice it before. It happens at idle, SOMETIMES. But it goes away the more i rev the engine. I'm not sure if i can't hear it because of my exhaust or if it actually goes away, but the sound DOSENT get louder the harder i drive it. In fact, the more gas i give it, it typically goes away but will occasionally come back. I did some research and i think it could be the lifters, i dont know too much about them besides that they help the valve open and close. Any remedy to this? And i'm i still safe to drive with it in the mean time? The weather is great now.

I dont understand how shims will cause that... the squeek is coming back now, but it comes back in really random times. Sometimes when i go on the brakes hard and it gets hot, then it will start to squeel. Sometimes i'll drive normally and it will not make a noise. And sometimes ill drive normally and it will STILL Squeel. This is driving me nuts.

Anyone have experience with the red coils? (spark plugs)
kevboost7 replied to kevboost7's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Thanks guys, i'm getting a misfire and think its those red coils. It's too bad because they look decent, but i might have to shell out the money for the spitfires or the R35s... Now to decide which one to get.. If i got the R35 ones, am i going to have to get the whole kit? The bracket, coil boot covers, and the harness? -

And are your coil packs held down by 2 screws? or 4 screws? All mine were only held in by 2. Seems kind of strange. -
OP here. The pins are now properly installed, cleaned and lubed up. Regarding the picture with the purple calipers. I dont know if i took that picture after i took apart the brakes and put it back just so i can have a picture, but i reinstalled it properly having the pins go through the brake pads. I also do have the retaining spring clips. I just took em off for the picture. Last night, i took everything apart, rubbed the pads on the cement. Installed the proper shims. Lubed up everything, both shims, the pins, the sides of the pads that come in contact with the calipers. Then I put everything back together... STILL Squeels..... might i add, once i did the other side, i noticed the previous owner/shop installed both pads with the wear indicator on the passenger side... What could it be at this point? Would it be the pads? Also i noticed that when i was pushing the caliper pistons back to make space for the shims, one caliper was easier to push in than the other. That means the calipers need a rebuild?

R32 GTR do-luck digital g sensor
kevboost7 replied to weikleenget's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I dont know what the stock g-sensor is like because my car didnt come with one. The previous owner in japan already removed it. But i installed the doluck sensor and noticed the car handles noticeably better in AWD than in RWD. -
i had a good laugh at all the girlfriend jokes 🤣 but shes gonna stay lol so im fixing the brakes. Truthfully, the squealing brakes bothered me but not enough for me to do something about it. So in a way, shes making my project car better 😆 Anyways, i took off the wheels last night and i think i found the culprit. There was no shims!! only the thin metal peice that came from the brake pads. I ordered a shim kit and its on its way. The brake pads i have are Hawk HPS something. on the last picture there was a thin metal plate on it, but i dont think it has the shim kit. Also, do those pads look glazed? And has anyone done a caliper rebuild? or should i consider going to a big brake kit?

My girlfriend is refusing to ride in the GTR with me because she says that the brake squeel is driving her nuts and is embarrasing. So now i have to figure out whats wrong. I notice that when the brakes are cold, there are no squeels. However after 5-10 minutes of driving, the squeel starts. And its always when i'm coming to a stop at a intersection. It dosent matter if i brake lightly, or apply the brakes very hard, it will 100% squeel. And i'm talking about a screeching loud sound that every car next to me will turn their heads to look. Something else i noticed the other morning when the brakes were cold, when i applied the brake, the car would pull to the right a little bit. Why would it do that? Would the left side or the right side be the culprit?
