  1. This may sound dumb but what do you mean when you say eau de oil vapour XD
  2. What is the other option, even if it’s no so easy?
  3. Hi everyone. Hope everyone is having a good long weekend. I have been working on my engine for a while now and I’m now only just putting it back together. Ive bought a catch can (with breather) on it and was going to run it like how I’ve seen it online. Which is straight from the rockets to the catch can. Or so it seemed to me. But I’ve noticed that the pcv from the turbo side of the engine doesn’t have anywhere to go if that’s the case. And because I took such a break I forgot what my plans with it were, I’ve got the intake pcv to the throttle side blocked off already but I need advice on what to do now. I’ll show what my engine is looking like right now but would love to know what to do with my lines and all. Maybe I’ve missed something I’m not sure.
  4. ah okay, i was mainly asking because i saw somewhere that you have to heat them up or something to remove them. and tbh i wasnt aware you could buy press in fittings and the main reason i bought the thread in was because i though thats what the oem ones did anyway and i thought it best to try and utalise the ones i have already bought
  5. Hey everyone, just been tearing down my rb25det to change a few of the gaskets and modify a few things. One of those things was adding a catch can. But I’ve run into an issue. My idiot self thought that the breathers were just screwed in.. even the slightest bit of research shows that they are intact not screw in but pressed in. I’ve already bought all the fittings for the system. So now I’m just wondering if anyone knew any good ways to remove the fittings? I’m in the Geelong area of Victoria if anyone knows someone specific, if not then just the sort of business that would be able to help me out with that? My idea after getting them removed was to tap the remaining holes and possible get them welded on too? Thoughts on this are welcome as I’m sure more than one person has been through this.
  6. okay first of all.. youre right, cant even deny on that. but yeah i get it now and its all kind of clicking into place now, thank you. is the high flow something youd actually recommend or do you think that maybe a different turbo might be the way to go? always looking for more opinions on what direction i should go with my build.
  7. ah okay, this is why i need you rb geniuses to help me out haha, im very new to the engine and have spent the last 4 years working with EJ's so i feel very out of my depth here haha. im just going of what ive been told by the mechanic ive gone to, hes been really trustworthy and has always shown me whats wrong before recommending i replace something, so perhaps ive misunderstood him. i saw someone how did say that you could bend the rod but youd be missing about 10mm worth of length which is required, how true this is? not sure, again just what ive heard. as on the topic of oem or aftermarket, i was thinking id just get aftermarket now as i do intend to put a high flow turbo on it at some point down the track and though i may as well get the better wastegate now rather than later, thoughts?
  8. yeah stock turbo.. i think? well when i first got the car it was pretty sluggish and felt like a boat, i did a few thing like cleaning the maf and tightening some hoses and it went up to about 8 pounds of boost, which im pretty sure is still low even from factory but do correct me if im wrong, but now its gone back down to 5 pounds of boost. with the wastegate did you have to modify it at all? cause ive seen a lot of the stock wastegates have rods with bends in them whereas the only turbo smart ones i can see at first glance have straight ones.
  9. Hey everyone, been having a bit of a boost drop on the C34, it was getting its caster rods done the other day and i asked the guy who was doing it and he said the wastegate had a lot of play in it? do i know what that means... not really. but i was wondering what wastegates people here run? stock? aftermarket? just kind of want to see my options. to answer some questions which may be asked its a non neo motor currently does have a stock wastegate i do want to go for more power in the future thanks in advance who replies and tries to help out
  10. haha, funnily enough, never touched drugs or vapes or smokes or anything like that, but i get what you mean, although the treadless tyres.. different story haha
  11. haha, love that. but yeah i have noticed that, had an 03 impreza, not a single engine mod done to it, only made it look nice, legit all rice... got pulled over and abused for pretty much no reason, tried to defect me on it being to low, it was just high enough. tried to say the body kit parts i had werent stock so therefore not allowed (first off.. wtf) but they were just sti parts so they couldnt do jack squat
  12. gonna seem like a dunce.. but what does victoriastan stand for haha? but yeah nah, ive memorised most of the cop spots, even then, if im gonna speed ill do a pass by of the place first before going to make sure im not gonna get shafted haha
  13. to be honest i didnt even think you could get 2 lmao, i was under the impression if i get caught with my pod filter and no box id probably just get shafted there and then (probably still will tbh) but yeah i get what you mean, definitely not a good idea i agree. i think what @soviet_merlinsaid is probably the best bet, just wait and save and then do it, cause lets be honest, its gonna be a while before i have everything to put on the car, may just do the intercooler for now, id prefer to do the ffp but if what you said is true then ill just wait, that way i may have even more money for an even more comprehensive set up. i do think just modding the turbo to high flow should be fine though (in the future) cause itll still have the same housing and the piping should cover up any sign of it being modified, do correct me if im wrong on that part.
  14. its innocent until proven guilty in their case, pulled over for just being a hoonable car, cops cant force you to rev your engine or anything. they did get a defect, but its a lot better than what would happen if they were caught with the turbo.
  15. thats a good point id be willing to forgo the screamer pipe tbh, but ill probably do what my made did when they turbo charged their 300zx and just disconnect the cable for the bonnet and relocate it so that it cant be opened. it works pretty well tbh
