  1. Hi mate, just to confirm, by the old scheme are you referring to the previous 15 year old rule or the old compliance scheme?
  2. Do it More PPL should. It's hard to tell how loud/soft the exhausts are but good to hear the exhaust note on different setups.
  3. Racepace Full Exhaust Sound Video. Screech after startup is from starter motor starting to play up. Revving to 3k then 4k.
  4. No plans on doing anything to the exhaust at this stage Interesting. I'm keen to see if I can get more power (closer to 330rwkw) with a new intercooler too. Mind you 360kw is nothing to complain about! thanks mate. Thought I'd get some high quality shots of it before it changes a bit in the next 6 months or so
  5. Spent Melbourne Cup Day working on a couple of interior items. Some dress up items (photos coming shortly) and Child safety restraints etc (for eventual engineering to get the car on the road). Got a mate to take a few photos for me too. (thanks Nismad) Santa has (in the form of my Mrs) has some OEM and aftermarket interior goodies coming for me too so looking forward to that Sitting tight on getting anything major done on the car in the next few months. Deciding how much of the body I want to get worked on first before sending it off for engineering and road reg.
  6. No idea. Probably change over motor when someone needs a rebuild done quickly I guess. The HKS piping appears to fit well around the airbox, mate. RPM did all the labour so I don't know if they had to modify how the standard airbox is mounted or anything. I'll take a look next time I'm working on it.

  9. Shitty job of doing the rebuild. Probably a back yard job. Bearings were OK I think. Scouring from piston ring damage. Detonation from running too lean. Might have had another ECU in there from Japan? Impossible to tell now.

It's a great feeling getting into it and driving it again The damaged motor usually goes at the start of these threads but I'll take a bit of time out today to show what happened to it all those years ago. Chris was nice enough to crack it open and give me a show and tell session. Firstly it appears the motor was fitted with a metal head gasket in Japan but no machining was done. Okay then. Every bore showed signs of scouring. Every piston showed signs of detonation Piston number 6 has a section missing from the top corner of this photo. Chris has told me he would give me this piston to keep on my study desk. Motor has been sold to RPM so it's going to get a new lease of life RPM style. Godspeed.

  14. Nope not an N1 lip. N1 lip is no where near as big and doesn't stick out towards the rear of the car like that one. I have an N1 lip on the standard boot lid and it's not even close.
  15. Came from Japan with it. Looks like some sorta custom fibreglass job. Needs clips to hold it down properly. Will mount a wing later on this one and keep it for track days, standard factory setup for the road.
  16. Got the car back again. Old Exhaust. Basically just a straight 80mm stainless steel pipe attached to FGK tuned length front pipes. Race Pace Exhaust Now In. Hard to see however also got some fasteners to hold down the Fibreglass boot. My rear wiper had been removed in Japan with a rubber grommet to cover the hole All plugged up properly now with washer nozzle also removed. (Thanks Ants!) Getting close to the final tune. Boost was dropping from 20>18 PSI. Unfortunately it seems that for whatever reason there is a pressure drop in the current Apexi Hybrid intercooler. Tuned with 21PSI dropping to 18 for the time being. Theres definitely more in it so will be getting a new intercooler in a month or so and sending it back January for a retune. (thinking Plamaman ATM) Least she's back for Christmas Verdict on the Racepace Exhaust. They cost big $ but was definitely worth it. All I can hear is induction noise now and everything rattling inside the car when putting it around normally. Just enough RB26 burble on idle and on the highway and it comes alive when you open it up. Very happy with it.
