I thought the meeting was next week. Sad I missed it. I've been seriously tossing up a cage for a while. I really want to run on slicks and stiffen up the car plus minimise the crash factor. Could I please have a point brief on the half cage keeping the rear seats in? Also did he give an indication on prices? Drew could you pm me with what you have done to stop the car being taily. Your car seems to handle really well with little under or oversteer.

Rowdyr32 replied to Rowdyr32's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
I only bought the right hand side hoping to find another but don't need it anymore. -
Thanks Snowy. Just gave Marcus a call and he said it should be ok if I fax it tonight.

Shit I didn't realise there was a cut off date for the entries. Guess I should have read the sup regs earlier. Looks like I've missed out.

Stability Under Brakes And Car Walking Around

I find the same at track days. By the time I get the car ready the week before you don't really want to crawly around under it and stay dirty for the whole day. If you do want to try something like increasing ride height or back off or on swaybars let me know. If you do I will orgainse something to lay on and car ramps. That kind of stuff really interests me but I'm the same as you and don't get enough time in the car to have it going as quick as it does in its corrent state and understand how to drive it at its optimum into and through corners at the track and then to try something else and see how it goes. Just look at our track times at PI. Each session was faster and faster. I also think the saybar option is the easiest way to go and costs nothing as a bonus for the benifits that can be gained. DO you have circlip or threaded height adjustment. Let me know when your going to Winton. I'll come along to to platy with my susp. There must be a few seconds in my car susp setup atm also. Sydneykid what ride height did you use on your track gtst and what were the spring rates? -
Stability Under Brakes And Car Walking Around

Bris after driving behind your car it seemed way to stiff. It doesn't squat at all out of corners really or even body roll that much. I have never been in your car before around corners but going on my old gtst I alway though I needed some a/m swaybars and softer rear spring to get some of the power down. Also you may have a blown rear shock because when I smashed the gtr I had no rear end grip at all and anything I did just unsettled the rear of the car (it felt like a water bed- all over the place all the time). After driving my car at Sandown again after repair it still felt terrible. Now with the new shocks it's really balanced and hard to believe its the same car. Could you raise the rear of the car to gain more rear end taction out of corners or back off rear swaybar insead of tightening front? Into corners I don't know enough yet. Did it feel different though turn 1 vs turn 12? Just messing around with the car a little made me understand how raising the rear or stiffening/loosening swaybars can effect grip and traction. Just moving the rear swaybar from hardest to middle changed the car from an understeering pig to almost right SAU Vic needs to have a suspension tuning day! -
This might sound silly but on the Winton and Calder days with WRX club do you have to really have a roll cage on slicks since the track is not CAMS? I know you don't need a cage on practice days. Just a thought I had recently. Do they use cams or aasa insurance? I like the idea of a cage since being paraplegic or retard vs normal = cheap since ours cars are now going faster and the idea of using slicks turns me on.

I bought a right hand front caliper and need the left to go with it asap. If you can help me out let me know.

Someone was saying a while ago that I can run my roadbike on the day. Can I? I'd be more interested to see what it can do. If not the car will be there.

I have some SK shocks in my car and they seem to work really well and I'm only on street tyres. They were off one of the track GTR's he works on and they are meant to be used with semi's . The car seems really balanced even though it needs a front alignment after my DIY one to remove some front toe in went wrong one night before DECA and I still haven't got it right yet. Didn't want to wear out new tyres. There is a lot of talk about abjustable dampening and rebound in shocks and if you don't know what your doing you will never get it right. I'm not a SK fan boy but from my car now and a mates 32gtst with SK street shocks only in the adelaide hills compared to his previous Tien's and my old Kyb's in my old gtst I was amazed how well it handled with a nice smooth ride and heaps of corner speed - didn't skid over bumps in corners. Would recommend them to you. Also if PIARC isn't boked out on the sat I'm in. With some more front end grip with an alignment, the TSC and some new brake pads I really want to push the limit and get a low 1.50. I've never backed up a day at the same track so soon so there should be some more improvements to be made.

SHIT YEH!!! This would have to be most fun I've had at a track day so far. PI alway seems to put on the weather for us and what a great track. The morning was a little slow but it was worth the wait. To all of you who weren't there you really missed out. Looking at the time everybody was doing. Crazy people! Ferni 1.51. You'll have to slow down or I'll never catch you if you start gaining confidence in the car as quickly as Jack did a while back and look the times his doing now. Bris- I might have to start calling you Mad Dog, the way your car wags its tail all over the track. Looks a little hairy to drive. I was waiting for you to loop in front of me but you alway pulled it back. Imagine if you did borrow my wing. There would have easy been a 1.50 flat in it with traction . Reminded me of the old gtst around there. FUN! BBGTR if only I knew I alway bring some spare clamps incase their needed.

Just take the pipe to supercheap or autobarn and pick a hose similar. You may have to cut it but for $10 it gets you driving for the day. I've done this before and it works because I couldn't be bothered waiting for them to order one.

I'm agree with Chris. This was only the 2nd track I had been on and I recommend taking it easy in the morning and building up to it. A lot of the corners your going to be doing the speeds of the back straight turn at Sandown for example. I was doing 1.31's at Sandown and started the day doing a 2.07 and brought it down to a 1.57 and consistant 1.58's on street tyres with 200rwkw. There are so many options for lines and I never worked it out. I'm definantly going to do what Dane suggested and view some other peoples footage if diffent cars. Theres a lot to learn. I've been hanging out for this for a long time know. Can't wait! This was the most fun I'd had at a track day! Expecially turn 3 and turn 12. Out of control scary but still in control if you know what I mean.
