  6. Yup, things like a new balancer, pullies, fittings a good sump etc all add up, the basic short motor is cheap, but the extras that should go into a build are the expensive bits. Take my old Rb25 - it had some good gear inside, but all the outside bits kept letting it down that I really shouldve replaced at the same time but my budget didn't allow for.

  8. Thats nice, Ive also seen a 1200hp Aspirated small block throw a set of Oliver Billet rods out the side of a Dart block while just running the cam in. So you are trying to tell me that even a well primed oil system will have perfect oil coverage on each and every bearing that is covered with assembly lube etc.
  9. $59 dollars for a mild steel 12mm header flange is not cheap guys, it would be about the price most people would pay. So I can understand why Wax is pissed, I know I would be.

  13. Well I would say once the turbos go back on, give it a good run with new oil and test the oil again, fingers crossed it doesnt run a bearing in the mean time. Oh btw did you find out what was causing the over heating on the last motor? I'm thinking that the dead turbos maybe caused by the same thing? maybe the turbo oil and water lines are a bit blocked? Oh and what i meant by the gearbox, is that the input shaft is not gun barrel straight it may be causing the back of the crank to move up and down. Its a long shot, but may be possible LOL I feel like I'm on myth Busters.
  14. what about the clutch/flywheel or gearbox input shaft? Something must be causing the crank to not move the way it should, not saying this engine is dead as I can understand bearing material wiping off in the 1st few hours of engine start. But the fact that it keeps picking up bearings tells me that there is something not quite right.
  15. Ah yeah you could be right about the bearings. What about the crank? Is there anything common between these engines you kill? and I mean anything at all.
  16. I wonder why there is a shit load of lead in the oil? Unless you are doing the sneaky sneaky and running Sunoco MaxNos lol Is this the same block you have always been using? or is it a different block to the others you have killed?
  17. Haha yeah It happens everywhere, I knew a bloke who put a 600thou lift and something with 260odd degrees at .050 cam in his stock 308 and wondered why it made 35hp on the dyno.

This - On a regularly driven street car I would be more concerned about having a good idle and what I call carpark drive ablility, i.e light throttle in 1st gear, or pulling up a sloping driveway without having to ride the clutch etc. Being able to do this would mean more to me than 10-20kws at 4000rpm and WOT. so it really depends on what you want to do with the car.

  21. well, If I had 2K to spend on tyres 595SS' would not make the list, esecially if the car they were going on was a 300KW R34 GTR 595RS or RSR would be a better option.

  24. Whats it like at part throttle/cruise though? bigger cams mean less dynamic comp = less HP unless it has boost
