  2. hey mate, my father owns a race car shop in sydney, and has done roll cages in quite a number of cars now! maybe 60 different types! check with your local engineer/adr rules to see what you are and arent aloowed to have, pm me if you want my dads contact number as he is located in sydney, and may know someone in your state that may be able to help you! my father makes his cages out of chrome moly and its strength and light weight out-muster everyhting else! if you choose to do it yourself, he has all the chrome moly you may need! best of luck, hope you find something you after and keep the tough street car look/drift toy look! Garth
  3. hey mate, each amber is 4 tenths of a second or .4 of a second! if you get the car ready to launch as soon as your in stage start to launch on the last amber and you should be right! my best in a street car is 0.006 and my best when i raced jnr dragsters was 0.001 or back then, 0.401. hope this helps mate! good luck
  4. hey mate, if you having trouble with 60ft times, soften up the suspension if you can, lower your pressure to about 28psi, and launch (riding your handbrake if your not scared to) this will decrese the chance of crappy tyres wheel spinning! im my 32gtst year ago, my best was 14.1 with front mount, pod, and cat back exhaust with 14psi. then i started to launch harder and ride the clutch a little, got 13.9. then my old man has been around it for years, now builds drag cars, which i raced when i was yonuger, but he advised that maybe my tyres are shitty, and to use the handbrake... i tried it and it worked, went 3 separate time in my gtst, each time got quicker! 14.1, then 13.9, then after hard launches and handbrake riding, i got it down to 13.4 @ 98mph, 60ft - 2.003 my gtr now has run best of 11.7, but after this build it should be closer to high tens at 130mph or there abouts! goodluck, and if you want any help or me to come and watch you launch etc, let me know! cheers, Garth
  5. www.a1pg.com my mate ian dyk, is the new driver for australia, he is doing quite well, and you can follow all his, and the australian teams drmaas and highlights with live updates lap times etc. great site, support my mate, who is doing us proud, and 2weeks ago in mexico, he finished 3rd in the sprint and 8th in the feature race, this week in shanghai, he had dramas with the car, starting the sprint in 20th, climbed up to 16th, started the main feature race in 16th and got up to 12th by the first corner, few laps later and dyk'y was up to 7th before the car got rear left hand wheel vibrations and was forced to retie as it began to come worse and worse, later was found the suspension had bent arms and wasnt deemed safe to continue racing! he is a top bloke, and for all you a1 fans, support your countires if not australia! thanks Garth

  12. thanks for everything guys, at the moment im not changine the cmas on the run in tune! just wanna drive it. and yes i wanna crack the 10second barrier in my GTR. as for the rwkw, just easier way to measure power i guess, against other cars, cause not many cars will be keeping up with it around a track or on the old pac! hahaha! nah im sure there are other fast cars out there that will probably beat it, but thats fine. as for racing on the streets, nah dont do that, my dad would kill me as he builds drag cars for a living! so to answer it no i dont race, but i give it a squirt here and there! nothing crazy! sounds good about c16 i think, avgas was my question as i could get it readily from a good friend of mine, and i work in the aviation industry! as for the power figures, i was guessing 380rwkw with cam and c16, but if it gets more beautiful! and if it doesnt run a 10 second 1/4mile time, ditch them turbos and put the big single on, just to run a 10! keep the twin set-up for track days etc! thanks to all for comments and advice, appreciated highly! but cams will be done before the big tune... only going to use the poncams anyways! so it aint that big of a job is it? cheers guys i will try and post some pics up soon if i can get them to load without being to big! thanks once again! garth

  14. thanks for the imput! i believe i have the right set-up (with the cams) to make 400rwkw, if not, go shopping and buy a big single and external, then hope to mkae 500rwkw! it just keeps going on and on... endless $$$ hahaha. thats cars! thanks for all the responses and i will let everyone knwo the results when i get them! thanks Garth
  15. performance-wise has some for sale at a good price mate! from what i haev seen they do very well, greddy uses better cores, just depends how much money you want to spend! mounting them on a gtr is a fun job, mine is mounted on the l/h side in front of the wheel arch, i removed the airbox resonator, cant remember the exact size! but yeah, looks the goods and gets good airflow form my gtr front bar! goodluck mate

  18. hey kane, interested in you car and mods etc. i have seen many cars (GTR's on the dyno) i believe firmly awkw is more than rwkw, as the drive train loss etc. not as big as some people think, but about 10% difference on average! if you have time, pm me with you mods and figures etc! as for the cooler, i just installed my 100mm cooler on my GTR, whatta bitch, hahahahhaha! if you need any help with anything or would just liek mroe information, dont hesitate to ask or pm me, look forward to hearing form you and seeing how your car has turned out! mine should be running, well run-in tune, in a few weeks! ~15k later! hahahahha! did full forged bottom end, 33gtr crank brand new, everything new or replaced or overhauled to some extent! im hoping to push close to 400rwkw, but im sure my 2860r-5 wont handle it. see hwo we go and some fine tuning might get me there, car has run 11.7 with stock everyhting just boost and turbo upgrade. so we shall see 10's hopefully on a stock box. hahaha! hopefulyl she holds up! cheer kane, look forward to your response mate! Garth
  19. mate check out your coil[packs for hairline fractures, veyr easy job, and look for snapped or burnt out probes. also look for evidence of (white chalkiness) type powder or staining as this often leads to coil pack breakdown. take the valley cover off for starters to let the hot air out and see how you go, if it still happens have a look at the coil packs! splitfires are a great upgrade mate and relatively cheap these days, check all your plugs for gap, if you dont have feeler gauges, a hacksaw blade is .8mm if the slides in and out of the gap easily, buy some iridiums and re-gap them to atleast .8mm. any problems or further help, pm me mate! cheers and goodluck, Garth
  20. hey all, curious to see how this works out considering the cheap price! my father owns a race car shop in sydney and we have modified a few plenums before, eg: rb30 rb25 and made custom ones to. on a rb25 race car, the customer was after the xf throttle body on the front of the plenum. we separated the 2halves and made an aluminium top for it and machined up a block to suit the xf throttle body, all in all, we made runners to weld inside the custom top section! lots of stuffing around to get flow as even as possible, and lots of time and calculations involved! huge job. although customer was happy in the end as it bolted straight up and we just moved a couple of vacuum hoses around, lost 70cm of cooler piping, and increased curve/less lag on the dyno, by about 10%. so it came on boost a little quicker! cant wait to see the results, as im sure with some tidying up, and a little tlc (match porting) with a die grinder, could get these (cheap) plenums flowing just as good as the (genuine) ones! if your not scraed to cut it open and weld in a couple of air flow dividers, i honestly believe it will work alot better than the greddy units! best of luck with this little project, and if you require any help, feel free to pm mate! thanks all, look forward to seeing the results! cheers, Garth
