  1. Unfortunately you may find that not many people are looking for non-turbo GTS Skyline's these days so their sell price is very low... Most people wouldnt pay more than $5,000 - $7,000 especially if it has done a lot of kms.

  3. You know, sitting on the roof like that can put a rather large dent in it... (not that Im complaining about the photo though).
  4. ^^^This is actually not totally correct. The treadwear rating on a tyre doesnt indicate how hard or soft the compound is or how much grip the tyre can provide. The only way to judge how well a tyre grips is to use it and judge for yourself. There are many different factors that determine a tyre's outright grip, like: tread design, tread depth, casing construction, silica or non silica. The tread compound isn't the only thing that gives a tyre it's grip. Treadwear ratings are also highly affected by the depth of tread on the tyre... For example if a manufacturer made 2 tyres with exactly the same tread compound, design and casing but one had 5mm of tread and the other had 7mm of tread you would have almost the same performance from both tyres but completely different treadwear ratings. To answer the original question about Hero tyres - they are manufactured by Federal as their tier 2 tyre, they share a lot of similarities in design and construction with Federal tyres and are comparable quality. I have personally driven an R32 GTST Skyline on Hero Milanza HZ1's and found them to be very good tyres for their price. The moral of the story? - Don't judge a book by it's cover.
  5. Make sure that you keep in mind the variance in overall diameter of your tyres as well as the ideal width for your wheels as the RTA doesnt look kindly on different O.D front to rear (your actually not even supposed to have wider tyres on the rear unless the vehicle came out of the factory like that, according to the RTA). I would recommend: 17x8 = 225/45R17 - 634mm O.D 17x9 = 255/40R17 - 635mm O.D You can usually go up to 255's on an 8" wheel but it's a bit too wide and you can go up to 275's on 9" but thats also a bit oversized. Also remember that if you want maximum traction then you dont want stretched tyres... As for Federal 595's - they are a great 'bang for your buck' tyre, you'll get plenty of grip and life from them for a good price. I hope this helps
  6. I remember that... I dont know what they were smoking when they put that together
  7. +1 For this system... Looks and sounds awesome!
  8. You have a V35, buy a Japanese exhaust off the shelf (Trust, HKS, Tanabe etc.) through someone like Trojan Motorsport - cheaper and better quality than getting one made up.
  9. Academy is sh!thouse... Its full of teenie sl_ts wearing next to nothing and underage d_ckheads who think they're tough using a fake I.D to get into a club so they can drink copious amounts of vodka and red bull and 'score' with some easy lay who has no self respect. (I dont like Academy).
  10. The same story you hear about every workshop... Some people love a workshop and always recommend them, others wont touch them with a barge pole. I have just seen and heard some things that make me think twice about getting them to do engine work on my car.
  11. Thanks, but no thanks... It seems I'll have to wait the 2 months for a reputable shop to start on it because I read the warranty terms that these guys sent me and there are holes in it big enough to drive a truck through... I dont think I'll risk freighting a motor from interstate.
  12. All good advice, thanks I'll ask them for a copy of the warranty conditions in writing.
  13. The engine that I am looking for isnt exactly common... Its not for my Skyline, its for my daily - Toyota 3VZE V6. Freight isnt a problem, I can organise it cheap through work. I have looked around locally and there isnt anything available... Especially not for the right price. Also the wait on getting it rebuilt here in Canberra is over 2 months for work to start on it, so it wouldnt be complete for 3 months or longer and I just dont have that long to wait
  14. I agree that getting one locally would be better but I have tried that option and there arent any in or around the ACT. The shortest wait on getting it rebuilt by a reputable shop here in Canberra is 2 months to start work on it, so completion would probably take 3 months or longer and I cant wait that long unfortunately
  15. Hi all, I thought that I would post this here seeing as these guys are based in Brisbane... Click here for link... Any help and/or opinions would be much appreciated! Cheers Mick
  16. Ok, so I'm considering buying a fully reconditioned engine from BMI -aka- Brisbane Motor Imports. http://www.brisbanemotorimports.com.au/ I have been communicating with them via e-mail and so far they seem pretty straight forward, knowledgable and friendly... The engine comes with a 12 month warranty (but I know that sometimes these warranties aren't worth the paper they are written on) and is a very good price. Anyway, the reason for this thread is to ask whether anyone has dealt with or knows of someone who has dealt with these guys and can give me an idea of whether I should go ahead and order the engine. I really don't wan't to spend thousands of my hard earned on a dodgy motor, freight it down to Canberra, bolt it all together and find out at the first turn of the key that it is f_cked and I cant get it replaced under warranty. Opinions please! Cheers Mick
  17. Thanks man... I'm pretty happy with it.
  18. You have cats! Cat people rule! (I have a cat)
  19. Come on guys, someone must want a cheap, retro classic cruiser to play with? BTW - I have bought my new daily (why I need the room) so if anyone sees me getting around in my new 4Runner, give a wave
  20. There is a For Sale section for these sorts of posts...
