  1. I'll be there all weekend - come to the Federal Tyres tent and say hi (although I'll probably be running around like a mad chook all weekend).

    Jdm'fest 2009

For everyone who is planning on coming - I wont be able to organise a meeting place as I will be there early to help set up so someone will need to put their hand up to be the organiser I'm seriously looking forward to this event, I think that if we get enough interest it could lead to birth of a sort of Japanese car Summernats (without the bogan idiots of course) in the future! See you all there!
  3. With the rate that Canberra is losing any interesting or exciting events / past times, where will we be in 20 - 30 years? - Canberra is going to end up being known not as a city but as the worlds largest retirement village. Think about it: We had a drag strip - Gone We had the V8 Supercars - Gone We had fireworks - Gone We even lost SAU Texikhana because some old fart who lives 10kms away from the Sutton Rd complex complained about the noise of the cars! We still have Floriade though!! I am seriously considering moving to Brisbane - Sun, beaches, theme parks, race tracks... End rant
  4. Just because there is now a "ban" on fireworks in Canberra it doesnt mean that they will dissapear, the industry will just go underground... If you can find the right people you will still be able to buy them out of the back of a truck somewhere (if you really want them)... I know for sure that there are some privately owned pirotechnical companies in the ACT - might be able to sweet talk one of them into selling you some mortars I think we will still see plenty of lights in the sky over the Queens birthday weekend for a few years. P.S. The Fun Police have struck again... I wonder what mildly entertaining past time they will ban next.

There are always good and bad stories about every workshop... I am sure that RP071 has a true story to tell but one experience for one person doesnt mean that it will happen to everyone. I know these guys quite well as they are a customer of mine and they seem to know what they are doing.. They have built some very serious cars.
  6. I'm here, I'm here! Kat - What do you want most out of your tyres? - Life, low noise, max dry grip, max wet grip? No tyre can do everything, there is always a comprimise... With your car's power figure and the amount that you drive it (I'm assuming not that much?) - I always recommend the 595RS-R because it will give you massive amounts of dry traction whil still being quite predictable and progressive in the wet and maintaining good life (around 25 - 27,000kms depending on how you drive). You will need 255/40R17's for your rims. Ask Michele, Jeno or Donnan - they all use these and I'm sure they are very happy with them. P.S. - PM me for prices.
  7. I hear this from people way to much these days... It is to easy to say that a tyre isnt a "semi-slick" because it isnt an 'R' compound. The term semi-slick is simply determined by the tyre manufacturer or their marketing department to describe a tyre that has a lower void ratio than a normal "street tyre" in their range. - This term is used to describe the tyre's tread pattern. The term 'R' spec or 'R' compound simply means that the tyre has soft compound and motorsport casing made specifically for race or track use (although many are approved for road use as well), whether the tyre is a "semi-slick" or not doesnt matter. - This term is used to describe the tyre's tread compound / casing. Falken RT615, Kumho KU36, Federal 595RS-R, Bridgestone RE070 (factory fitment for R35), Toyo R1R - These tyres are all considered "semi-slick" but not R- spec (there are more but you get the idea). If by saying "Real Semi's" you mean 'R' Spec tyres then you are correct, the KU36 isnt considered an 'R' Spec tyre, but it is widely considered as a semi-slick. I hope this clears up some confusion.
  8. Damn! - $19,500 is cheap for that car... I had the pleasure of seeing it up close and personal at Final Battle 07' and the quality of work must have been extremely good, because that is one amazing looking car! I hope someone who really appreciates it buys it and looks after it. Good luck with the sale

    Jdm'fest 2009

Hello all, Skylines Australia ACT have been extended a personal invitation from Ultimate Tunes to attend a new event that will be taking place in Phillip on the 5th of September 2009... This looks like it could be a great event for local Jap car enthusiasts and will surely grow in popularity in the coming years... So lets show our support! I have been told that there are limited spaces for the show and shine (60 in total) and there has been quite a bit of interest from other local car clubs already. So put your hand up (or name down) if you are keen on attending the FREE Show 'n' Shine and / or DYNO Challenge so that we can get some idea of numbers. Also - there will be prizes and giveaways on the day for entrants to the Show 'n' Shine and the DYNO comp, so as the ad says - start polishing your ride! I'll start us off... 1. Bullet32 - Show 'n' Shine
  12. You have to be the luckiest person I know John... CHEERS for the round of drinks, much appreciated!! Certainly was cool to meet up with almost everyone from the old crew again, even though we had to leave early - Big ups to Jayce for organising it!!
  13. Aww, Jayce... Youre going to make me cry Seriously, I'm starting to tear up...
  14. Bugger... Oh well, I'll just have to keep looking for a good cond. cheapish set for mine
  15. You suck Luke... Cancel your Sydney trip and come to the reunion!
  16. Hmmm... I'll have to think about it
  17. NIIIIICE - To bad you were driving a French made diesel P.O.S
  18. I'm interested Richard... How hard would it be to find a matching drivers seat?
  19. Sounds like the rack itself is moving when you turn the wheel... Check the rack mounts to see whether there is any rubber bush left in them - if they are heavily worn or there is no rubber there at all, replace them. That should hold the rack in place. Other than that, it could be badly worn tie rods or rack ends.
  20. Awesome to hear that you guys had a great trip and your back safe and sound Jeno , did you actually go on the Nordscheife circuit?? So jealous that you got to go on the Autobahn!!
  21. Ok, Its time to officially "let the cat out of the bag"... After almost 14 months of blood, sweat, swearing and large sums of cash... Last Saturday I picked up the "Silver Bullet" from a certain performance workshop in Queanbeyan. The former power figure (which a few of you may remember) has been eclipsed by more than 30rwkw (41hp) which is even more impressive when you consider that it is now running less boost! I couldnt be happier with the final tune... And all of the extra work, bolt on parts, electrical bits, time and effort have finally added up to make a pretty complete package, it is an animal to drive (I'm still smiling). I have to say a HUGE THANKS to: James (DriftGTS) Luke (Frink) Mark (Bluprint) Paul (DIRTgarage) For all your help - Cheers! P.S. The reason I am being so criptic is because in light of a recent increase in stolen Skylines I would prefer to not disclose too much more info about my car... PM me if you would like to know more Cheers, Mick
  22. Spotted a certain Silver R32 Gtst drive out of ESP Racing on Saturday...
  23. Hmmm... I dont know what the going rate is these days. I am sure that we can come to some sort of agreement though We're still waiting for Jayce to tell us when he wants to put his motor back in too.
