I think I'm going to get an S2 purely just because it's newer (and Neo 6, etc), but I really hate the grille. Can you just remove the lights and use a S1 grille? Are the lights important lights?
-
The lights in the grille of the S2; what do they actually do? Just parkers or something? I've seen S2's without these lights?

lol there's always a "long story" with importing a car somewhere
-
Do yourself a favour - don't call Seaway directly. Call Craig or whoever you are dealing with and get him to call them. Seaway don't know whats going on. I was told my car was in QLD and I needed to get a customs broker or something. I hung up, freaked out, and got a call no less than 2 mins later from Toll saying "I'm coming around with your car now, is that cool?".
-
Cheers all. Gee it'd be nice if someone just punched me in the face and yelled "GET A MANUAL" haha. Make my mind up for me.. There's positives to both - just need to figure out what the purpose of this car is. Hmmm.. Either way, hopefully there will be another Stagea owner in SA soon.
-
Yeah I'm still trying to figure out whether or not I should save the money and get an S1, or wait a bit longer and get an S2. S2's have more power and better fuel economy from what I can tell, not to mention newer so it makes me think I should wait..........

Hows it all going EGA41T? Well I hope?
-
Yeah - up until now I have only had manuals. I don't really want an auto, but realistically, it's probably not a bad way to go. I can have this car for chucking bikes in the back and going on holidays.. Who wants to deal with a heavy clutch on a holiday? What are Stageas like just for keeping simple? (as mentioned, lowered springs, exhaust and a pod filter or something). Are they pretty nice to drive stock? Would I be better off holding out for a S2?
-
Hi everyone, Just out of curiosity, I thought I'd just have a quick poll.. Is your Stagea an Auto or a Manual? Feel free to comment on whether or not you prefer either As you may have seen in the past I'm thinking about getting a Stagea, but last time I was thinking along the lines of a manual, that I would build up to look tough and go fast. Realistically, it's not the type of car you'd build up to race - slightly on the chubby side! So I'm thinking about getting an auto Stagea for daily driving and as a tow car - the missus can drive that one, and then possibly a 180sx for racing and weekends. Just not sure how "fun" a stock auto Stagea will be. It will just be wheels, lowered, exhaust and air filter, possibly kit and tint. Cheers!

I purchased my VR4 through J-Spec who got it through MY-Trading. Very happy

sweet nice one mate

Ahh ok that makes sense. So as long as they are just minor modifications (exhaust isn't too loud, wheels aren't too big), there are no issues?
-
do you mind me asking how much the rims set you back darrin?
-
Out of curiosity EGA41T, I take it you would need to borrow the exhaust/wheels/ whatever else is modified from the compliance place to get rego. Now does that mean that it needs to have the stock parts on when you get it checked in Sydney? Meaning you need to get the car trucked down to Sydney, then send the stock parts back to Queensland? Sorry.. just trying to make some sense of it...

It must be easy to wind back the stagea speedo...

Complying And Registering A Cef

*waves* hi simon remember how you weren't telling me what you were getting? -
Hi all, Some of you may have seen my post in the Compliance/Importing section but for those who didn't, I'm Jase from Adelaide and I'm looking at getting a Stagea. I currently have a VR4 Galant.. It's a good car but I want to be able to move my partner's and my mountain bikes. The question I'm wondering is though - Do you think two mountain bikes would fit in the boot without too much hassle? What is the "boot" like as far as strength? As in, this is a very bad explanation, but around the "bulge" for the struts, is the plastic very strong? or is it very thin? Also, what is the carpet like? Is it soft or does it seem fairly strong? Any photos of the boot area would be great too. Thanks all!

For what it's worth fLipKnot, I spoke to Kristian before coming on here - I don't want to create any arguments or anything. I'm one of the NS.com goons hehe. From what I can tell so far, I think I am looking for a S2 "RS-Four S" (thats the 5 speed, right?). Probably black, dark blue or silver I think - the dual sunroofs would be nice too, and a few interior options.. I don't think the tv screen is worth it is it? It's pretty much useless in Australia, yeah? I'm probably going to wait until Christmas passes, then chuck my car on the market and try and figure out 100% what I'm looking for. Also, just another quick question, are we allowed to have the dark as black tint on the back windows in Australia because it's from factory or something? Everyone seems to have it - just wondering whether it's legal or not. Cheers! -

Yeah I went through J-spec when I imported my VR4 and the service was great.. To be honest though, others are providing the same service (i.e. Kristian), for much cheaper. Out of curiosity, SydneyKid, did you come over to Adelaide to help Jack Monkhouse out for RallySA this year? If you didn't ignore that random question. hahaha -

I'm looking for a 5speed one - looks like too much trouble trying to convert one, so I think importing is the smarter option.. Thanks for the info mate. -

Haha don't worry Kristian, you're the person that I would most probably go through, just trying to get an idea of what others have done FWIW, is what bwilkeson suggested a fairly common way of importing SEVS imports? Regency have done it a million times before and they know how it all happens?
