  1. Hmm I put some in my car yesterday when I filled up... I put the acetone in after the fuel tho just cuz of the logistics of the whole operation. Went for a little drive today and I'm hoping it's not just wishful thinking but the car seems to run a hell of a lot nicer. I am reluctant to say this for fear of being seen as an idiot but my impression is this is the nicest the car has ever run... whether or not it's just cuz i drive an '89 and the acetone has cleaned some of the built up shit out of it but it just seems to drive err, smoother? Anyways I'll let you know after i've driven it for a bit more. Putting some into a mates S14 today so i'll get his impression as well.
  2. Sorry to divert a bit but by crunching gears do you mean when you go to change into another gear it like grinds and stuff? Mine is doing that...
  3. Is there an acetone craze going on...? I went to 5 different stores, and each had the label for acetone and a price but all were out of stock! at one place there was a little 500ml bottle and i picked it up and thought "narh there'll be a bigger one here somewhere" - the guy next to me swipes it and says "hope you weren't planning on buying that" then he giggled merrily to himself and proceeded to the checkout. Managed to get the last one available at bunnings although I had to settle for a 4L tin for $28.99
  4. Drivetrain loss is roughly 30% I thought. Ie stock R33 gts-t with 185kw at the fly will be roughly 130rwkw. R32 gts-t with 160 will be 110. Works for me. I think everyone in this thread was talking kilowatts weren't they?
  5. They say they have had dozens of different plastic/rubber parts soaking in a 90% fuel/10% acetone mixture (a lot higher than they recommend you use) for several months with no signs of wear.
  6. I do 450-500km per 55L in my '89 R32 GTS-T That's with a nice mixture of gentle and spirited driving Edit: Should have mentioned I use the 98 octane stuff, costs me about $75 per tank down here.
  7. Hey just a quick question, I was cleaning out my car a bit more thoroughly than previous and I came across a little yellow post-it note that says the following: Apexi Temp oC (degrees) APE - 17877 Just wondering what this means or relates to? Thanks
  8. Hmm I think I will give this a go, will head down to K-mart and put some in when I fill up next to see if it improves on economy. So you just add it like an octane booster? They say to use 2.5ml per Litre... so for my 55L that's like 140ml per tank.
  9. How much does this stuff cost?
  10. Don't consider the 180sx if it's a CA18DET. One of the advantages of the SR20DET in my opinion is the amount of mods and comparative cheapness of said mods compared to other engines. For me the choice was pretty simple... I just hate the way the 180sx looks, and love the boxy, straight angles of the R32, so I bought a little '89 gtst with RB20DET and I love it. Bare in mind I've never driven a 180sx tho so I can't really compare driveability. I think as someone mentioned above your first factor should be what you think looks best
  11. My slightly modifid RB20det (160+ rwkw) made 500km off of a tank the other day, which is 55L I think. So roughly 11 or 12L/100km.
  12. You could buy a lot nicer one off someone on these forums for $14-15k I think. That's the same price I'd let mine go for and it has oodles more done to it.
  13. I was watching something about this on ACA tonight. At the end of the show they said to go here to find out whether or not your car can run safely on the 10% ethanol mix. Apparently pre-2004 nissans won't.
  14. Hey legend would you mind posting up what modifications you've done to your car to get it to 238rwkw? And also your mates car if you know.... those are some awesome times. Very impressed with that 60ft time from a rwd.
  15. You messed up the link http://petrol.racv.com.au/index.jsp Doesn't work for me on the south coast =(
  16. Mine weighed in at 1330kg with stuff all fuel in it.
  17. It's an old thread... the links to the pictures probably aren't applicable anymore. Ie the files have been moved.
  18. Hey buddy you're running a 2530 with an untuned factory ECU?
  19. I liked Barry's nice little jab into Maguire's gut... not usually an AFL fan but watched it with the Girlfriend as they're her team and it was actually quite enjoyable Can't wait till the grand final.
  20. Is it fairly common for non-turbo varieties to have better fuel economy than the turbos?
  21. Yeah I get roughly 450km a tank in my '89 R32 Gts-t.
  22. I definitely wouldn't be complaining about having a NA skyline on my P's... awesome car with great handling, and hopefully you won't kill yourself as easily
  23. Thanks guys I think i'll replace em with... might be a good chance to get some little HIDs. Other than that I think i'm in love with my new car.
  24. Hey there, finally got my little '89 r32 gts-t registered today and was driving it home when it became dark so I decided to switch my lights on. As it got darker and darker tho I realised my driving lights were totally inadequate... Ie they barely light up the indicators infront of me, and I can't see anything beyond 10 feet ahead. They're just really really dull and faded, the headlights seem to work fine tho. Is it possible the plastic is just dirty? (I read threads about cleaning them) Or is there another possible reason for them to be so dull? Also when I'm on high beam is it normal for the driving lights to turn off? I read there're different styles of lights so mine has; parker lights on the outside, then these little circular ones that give a blueish light, then the high beams on the inside.
  25. Hey sorry just to clarify. If I have an rb20det and I was looking to upgrade to an r33 turbo, all I would need to buy is the turbo and the elbow and i'd be sweet? nothing else needed?
