  1. Hi all I'm thinking about putting a RB20DET into my VL Calais and use the RB30 block from the calais for the RB30DET conversion into my 32. I'm just wondering whether the RB20DET will go into the calais without too many problems. Thinking about chucking in the gearbox from my 32 aswell but thats a big maybe. Is there any mounts that need to be adjusted or what not to get the RB20DET in the VL engine bay? And if anyone has any ideas as to what other mods need to be done to get a engineering certificate that would be great Cheers
  2. Doh... I've got a series 1 calais. Do u think i would be better just getting a turbo block or a series 2 block? On another note...Where you saying that the standard rb30 rods and pistons and suitable for this conversion? I know they are probably not recommended but what sorta power do u think they could withstand? Cheers
  3. This may be a little off topic but anywho... To do this conversion do you need to have a turbo rb30 block or can u use the NA RB30 Block? I've got a VL Calais sitting @ home and was thinkin bout using the block to do the conversion
  4. What price are you looking for? and what are one of these worth new...cause i'll be getting one with my new fuel pump Cheers
  5. I made 125rwkw with the following mods: 10psi boost, 3 dump pipe from the turbo and a 3 inch highflow cat, 3.5 inch cat back zorst, pod filter and the timing advanced to 20deg. How are you guys pulling 150rwrk and what not, just curios. There must something wrong aye? Plus i also ran a 14.6 with 225 kuhmo's.
  6. I know this has nothing to do with the topic DCIEVE: Did you buy those plates off rob vickery? The guy with the TTV8 VS Ute?
  7. I know this subject has probably been talked over many times but i dont really feel like filtering through all the threads I'm about to change the oil in my R32 and i was just curios as to which is the best to use / you recommend? Cheers
  8. Nah...I dont have the seperate dump pipe....well i'm pretty sure i dont Is it actually worth getting the seperate dump pipe for the wastegate on the stock turbo? Dont mean to hijack the thread
  9. Is it true that you actaully get a better power output ( Figure ) in shootout mode? I managed to get 125rwkw in my r32 with the same sorta basic mods and 20 deg advanced timing on 10psi. I was under the impression that the r33's and 32's have a 20 odd kw difference in stock form? btw. Nice work enrico
  10. Son of Sydneykid: Do u mean a seperate dump pipe that comes off the wastegate? Because i'm pretty sure its one pipe Covering the turbo housing and the wastegate ( i'm not sure whether thats the right way of putting it ) Basically...its a 3 inch dumpipe from the turbs....3 inch cat and from the cat back a 3.5 inch.
  11. What about 3 inch from the turbo and 3.5 from the cat back? Thats what i got....is this a reasonable setup?
  12. Hi all This doesnt really phase me much...just curiosity i suppose. My car doesnt seem to run more than 13 psi. I've tried everything from even pulling off the vaccum line, fully opening the bleed valve etc. I dont want to run more than 13 psi but just curious as to why it wont do it. I thought that if u pull the vaccum line off it would run like a insane amount of boost. Could it be the standard release valve bleeding out the boost? Thoughts on this would be appreciated I just hope there is nothing wrong Thanks
  13. Thanks for the input guys. Current mods at the moment: 3 inch dump pipe from the turbo, 3.5 inch exhaust, air filter, bleed valve and running 20 deg advanced timing. nothing too flash The guy tuned the car on 10 psi boost with that advanced timing and said that i shouldnt really run more boost with the timing that far advanced. The car only put out like 125rwkw but that doesnt phase me too much cause it seems alot quicker. I think rev210's constant ranting about dyno readouts have rubbed off on me (no offence) I have also discovered that i have an exhaust leak around the dump pipe Could this be effecting the afr? Thanks again
  14. Heya I need a power upgrade and just wondering whether to go for the cooler or the fuel pump? i got the car tuned last week and the guys said the car was leaning out up top... dont know whether to go the cooler or the fuel pump... What are your suggestions? cheers
  15. Hi all... I'm just wondering whether having a mandrel bent exhaust will make alot of difference as apposed to one with bends welded on....dodgy but yeh. It seems my zorst has several little bends welded on.....just curios as to whether its gonna be worth the money to actually get a mandrel bend zorst and am i gonna notice the performance. cheers btw. my current exhaust is 3.5 inches from the car back
  16. Where bouts are ya man? and i assume this pillar mount will suite a 32?
  17. Yeah....just curious as to what the difference is. Which Flows better etc. Any help would be great as im in the market for a cooler and wanting to know which one to buy Cheers sLo
  18. Death....could i grab that number off ya aswell? cheers PM me or send me an email sLo
  19. I was considering the rb26 but it is quite pricey. Is the rb30 / rb25 hybrid goin to be a bolt on conversion? Do mounts have to be modified etc. What do you think rb26dett heads would sell for :D
  20. Dont mean to highjack the thread but does this apply to personal compliance aswell? Cause my cat was MESSED up when i bought it. Personal compliance tho....they let you get away with a few things aye I had snow tyres on my beast when i bought it :blah: Nasty Nasty things in wet conditions
  21. Hi 46n2. Try changing the plugs to kind that dont petrude out ( if you know what i mean). I couldnt find the plug code on the ngk site but here goes. I believe with a standard'ish plug the spark actually petrudes out from the end of the plug. I just recently changed them to the non petruding v style plug and no more misfires. It may sound like an overly simple solution but it worked for me and i was quite suprised it did. I was told that the reason this fixed the problem was because the spark was too exposed and getting blown out with the petruding plugs. I'm not too sure whether this is correct or not cause im not sure whether spark can be blown out Anywayz hope it helped sLo
  22. Ok...this is goin to be a long post as i dont want to post several little ones . I have a r32 skyline with a rb20DET. I'm wanting a powerful car but i dont want to loose the streetablity. My goal is to get in the 10 sec qtrs Does the RB20DET have the potential to get there, and how difficult would it be? I've heard that the quickest rb20det powered r32 in aus is a 10sec car. Have i been misinformed? Would it be worth my time / money try the RB30 Block / RB25 head conversion into the r32 or just play with the RB20DET motor...keeping in mind i'm wanting to eventually run 10's. What would be the most cost effecient proccess of going about this. All input would be appreciated as ive been wondering about this for ages and just curios as to what other people think about it. Cheers sLo
  23. nah went last saturday...they had a test and tune on. Wasnt to pleased with my time couldnt get any traction
  24. Yes INASNT...I have never had a FMIC. In fact this is my first turbo car and still learning alot about them. And I am learning a great deal from you guys at this forum. The only reason i questioned the power gain from a FMIC is becuase i've been in a s14 with a cooler and one without and the one without went alot harder / better. And they pretty much had the same mods. But i now know there is many factors that could have made this be. Thanks again sLo
  25. Well i took the car back and discovered that the timing was on 15 deg =/ which is standard. So the timing was retarded ( no pun intended ) originally....crap they brought the timing back 3 deg...sayin that when you accelerate your timing goes up 3 deg? is this correct? cheers sLo
