  1. I just brought some cheap 2nd hand struts for my 32 GTR. They are KYB 'Buzz Spec'. The front is adjustable by a small slot in the top of the shock, but the numbers have worn away so I don't know where they're at. Can you take them back a number of turns till they stop on the softest setting and go from there? Or do they work differently? Any help would be great.....
  2. Correct. We recently did the brakes on our 996 cup cars. Kits, including the pistons, were $500 per side. Makes sense to just throw the whole caliper on.
  3. My 32 GTR has been losing brake fluid slowly over the last few months, and i'm 99% sure it's coming from the ABS unit. Is this common on 32 GTRs? Can the unit be repaired or shall I just replace it? Cheers
  4. My GTR has been losing brake fluid very slowly over the last couple of months, I think its from the ABS unit. Is this common to 32 GTRs, and can the unit be repaired of does it have to be replaced? Any help much appreciated
  5. Do you have the ABS unit still?? If so, need it ASAP, can pick up, i'm in Brisbane
  6. Incar footage night would be nice, unfortunately I think the drivers are in posession of the footage, and I don't know if we'll get to see it again...... We should be at rally Burnie though, see you there.
  7. Any idea of spring rates?, how many k's they have done
  8. Congrats Marlin on getting to the end. We took the car down to Tassie for you in the transporter. I'm from SherrinMotorsport, came and had a yarn to you guys at lunch on day four.
  9. It's the input shaft bearing. Very common on both GTR and GTS-T boxes. Mine does it (32GTR) but i'm not going to worry about it till I need to do a clutch.
  10. Cheers, yeah I pulled them out and found the bearings to be shagged. Popped new ones in and they,re sweet as.
  11. I recently replaced the upper control arms on my GTR because they had suffered the common fate of the bushes flogging out. I was told each arm is about $200 from Nissan, so I looked for a cheaper alternative. I found some 2nd hand aftermarket ones at a importers with ball bearings instead of bushes, so theoretically they should last a long time. I got both for $100. Whacked them in which is pretty straight forward, but the left hand side still has an audible knock going over speed humps and uneven surfaces, and the right hand side (which wasn't noisy before) now has an occasional very loud 'crack' when going over significant bumps etc. I've jacked the front of the car up to check for play and movement but there is none there. I'm a bit purplexed as to where these noises are coming from, whether its the aftermarket control arms themselves, or something else in the front end. Has anyone had a similar problem with these aftermarket arms? The car also has aftermarket castor rods that seem ok. Stock suspension which is in excellent condition. Any ideas?
  12. The other night I installed a Blitz front mount 'cooler in my mates '98 G-tt. I thought I would take it for a squirt before I started so I had a 'seat of the pants' basis for comparison. The car is pretty fresh off the boat, and it arrived with full exhaust (minus dump pipe) with high flow cat, HKS pod filter, Blitz ID boost controller, Bilstein shocks etc. It came on boost nice and early, (compared to my GTR) and all feels well till about 4000 - 5000 rpm, where the power drops off and the car just feels flat. I thought it would pull hard to redline. Boost held constant, but power was definately down. Anyhoo, I installed the 'cooler, but didn't get to drive the car again as it was late and my mate needed to get home. He thinks the car feels a bit better but not as much as he expected. My question is does the R34 have any common faults with the factory management, i.e running overly rich, retarding ignition timing? I know I have to get it on a dyno to see whats going on, but I havn't had much to do with R34s, and thought someone in the know on here may shed some light for me. I don't know whether the management has been touched at all.... Cheers.
  13. As it says above, i'm after some lowered suspension for my GTR, but as it is our daily driver, i'd like fairly tame spring/damper rates. So coilovers are probably out unless they're very mild.... Let me know what you've got.... PM or call 0415960393
  14. Ummmm, in which case just don't rev it past 8..... Easy
  15. Well your mech is wrong, or taking the piss out of you. Yes they are both a true bolt on replacement to the GTR, but have slightly different specs offering different power delivery and response. Go to www.turbobygarrett.com for the exact specs.
  16. Actually, after mulling this over it can't be right. On www.horsepowerinabox.com 2560R huffers are currently retailing for $1320 each. The bigger brother 2860R are $1650 each. $2640 for the pair of 25s and $3300 for the 28s. So surely the $3100 figure quoted for turbos does not include labour to install them, - not exactly a small job. Anyhoo, if these figures are correct I would be going ahead my friend cause it seems fcuking cheap for all that work.... As for your target, the 2560R is rated at 320hp and the 2860R 350hp, I think a figure of between 320-350AWKW would be more realistic without leaning on the engine too hard. Hope that helps....
  17. So are all these figures inclusive of labour charges to fit the listed parts? And exactly which turbos are to be fitted? 2560R's or 2860R's? Sounds allright to me, as long as labour costs didn't blow out.........
  18. I use genuine Nissan oil in my GTR. Can't remember the weight, whatever Nissan reccomends. $38 for 5L and a filter and no issues at all, doesn't use a drop.
  19. Black '90 32 GTR 120kms (109 when purchased) Paid $22 500 including use of hoist and tools whenever I want. Car has HKS turbos, MINES ROM, exhaust, cams, HKS oil cooler etc. approx 250ATWKW -All fluids changed when I got it, - both diffs, gearbox, transfer case, engine oil (genuine Nissan oil & filter costs me $38) coolant, brake fluid and spark plugs. All up about $300 and my precious time -HKS copy downpipe to replace the stock one. Pretty weird having split dumps off the HKS huffers & 3.5" catback, but leave the standard downpipe and cat.....$300 for the pipe. -Top control arms. Found 2 aftermarket ones at Option 1 Garage with ball bearings instead of bushes $100 for both -Full comprehensive covering both of us (my Fiancee is under 25) $1250 per year -$70-$80 to fill gets 400-500km depending on city/open road and heavy foot/light foot Thats about it. The enjoyment we get from this car well justifies the $$ spent. Being able to perform all the work on it myself saves alot also.
  20. Two pieces of advice: -Take your time searching, don't buy the first one you see or go for a ride in. -If you are by no means mechanically inclined, take someone with you who is, or have any potentials inspected by someone in the know....(hint, not RACQ, NRMA etc) It took me 6 months to find our GTR, came close to buying others, but I luckily I waited 'till the perfect car came along. After 9 months of daily driving it has been 100% reliable. And hell yes, they are worth it. After owning 23 cars, nothing comes close to the enjoyment of owning/driving the GTR.
  21. Reece and the Heat Treatments team ran a 7.92 @ 256kph last night at Meremere in the r32 drag car. Considering its not the best track its a top effort. Congrats to Reece and the team.
