Yes apparently that is the problem, or so says about every single person i show it to. There is a dispute however as to how much this job should cost. Most people say its a 1 - 2 hour job for a decent mechanic. I've rung up a few places and they all reckon 5 - 6 hours. I dunno who to trust?! How much did u get charged to fix yours?
-
where did u get that heatshield from?
-
Ah very interesting. Are the studs a generic part or is it a part that can only be aquired through a nissan spare parts dealer? I am having the work done by a mechanic but i want to make sure he does a proper job
-
oh ok. Its possible though that the dump pipe gasket is the faulty one since it hasnt been looked at yet. Although this would mean that i would not be loosing power since the leak is after the turbo. (i am loosing power atm)
-
I am getting my exhaust gasket replaced on Friday. Do u reccomend that i replace all the studs?

Ive got a quetion for yous all out there. I recenlty burnt out my clutch so i went and paid some mechanic $250 to install a new clutch into my '95 GTST. About a day after i got the car back, the engine started to make a really loud and annoying noise. I found out that the exhaust manifold gasket needs replacing. This is a $260 - 300 job since the entire turbo needs to be pulled off. My qustion is this: Could the guy who installed my clutch have distrurbed the exhaust and caused it to somehow get a leak. I already asked him and he said he didnt touch the exhaust but i find it difficult to believe that u could remove a gearbox without touching the exhaust. what do u guys reckon?
-
I just got a heavy duty clutch installed on my 33 and its started to make that barra barra noice. Sounds like its coming from the gear box and only occures in 2nd and 3rd gears at low rev ranges. It is really annoying and noticeable but if it doesnt do any damage i guess its nothing to worry about. Have u guys who have had experience in this noticed if the noice goes away or even gets softer after time?

Doesn't third party cover you for fire and theft? Hey coupe-this, i live near you and i will look out for you too. Try going down to elwood beach on a thursday night or any hot night for that matter, was there yesterday and saw a few cars that matched your description. The thief prob wouldnt be that stupid to take it cruising but you never know. Good luck mate

Some idiot today backed into me and smashed the front fog light and left a large chip on the front bumper. Are there any wreckers in the SE suburbs of Melbourne where i could pick up a fog light? Also to fix the chip on the paint, is it just a matter of sanding down the chip and then respraying that spot? Cheers

Yea thats right but i think even in the '95 models only after a certain month they got airbags.
-
Hey its funny, my series 1.5 has got an airbag but on the compliance plate it says built in Jan/05. I thought the airbag only came in July 95 and after??!!

... continued Sei Motors in dandy Pros: - None Cons: - The guy is dodgy period - Has no idea wtf he is talking about - The cars are kept outside and are in sh^t condition - He is overpriced (for whats he's selling) - Heard a rumour that he used to sell rebirthed cars (only a rumour though) (If u happen to visit this dealer u'll get the picture of what kind of business hes running) power rd in dandy Pros: - Reasonable prices Cons: - No r33 Gts-t manuals (the car i wanted) - Pretty poor service, guy was not at all interested in selling a car, it seems that surfing the web proved more lucrative than potentially securing a 17gran sale SSV in Oakley (the place i bought my car from) Pros: - Cars very reasonably priced - Cars in very good nik (provided auction report) - 2yrs warranty (optional though) - Very good service Cons: - Cars kept outside (some of them are under are tent roof though) - cars are uncomplianced which means u wait 2-3 weeks after u put down a deposit before u receive the car (this will prob happen with other dealers too though) Prestige cars (i think they're called) in spencer st, West Melb Pros: - cars kept inside - cars are clean and in good nik Cons: - No service at all (the guy sells porsche and Ferrari, why would he care about a skyline buyer, i dont know y he even bothers to sell them) ie nobody came to even greet me - Majorly overpriced, the equal most expensive with JSA - No parking These are the main places that have skylines on sale. There are many other places as well with 1 or 2 skyline but i wouldnt buy one from there and for a very good reason that i will explain. If there's a dealer that mainly sell cars other than Jap imports, the attitude towards skylines i found is usually: 'i wouldn't touch them, ur looking for trouble mate, those cars are expensive to run, service and they've always got problems." This is proof that these type of people dont really know much about skylines, dont like them and don't really want to sell them. So u ask urself the question: 'why is this guy selling a skyline?" There are 2 possibilities. 1. He got it as a trade in, which means most likely the car has got lots of k's and will prob be in bad nik 2. He got it for really really cheap. Since the guy doesn't specialise in skylines, he doesnt know really what to look for, and even if he does, the 1 car he has is going to be at the lower end of the scale since he got it for so cheap. Best to buy from a guy with lots of skylines so u can pick and choose and make sure that u dont get a lower end skyline. Hope this helps, if ive missed any other large dealers let me know coz i prob forgot a few

When i bought my skyline i went to ever sigle dealer in Melbourne, here is a wrap up. JSA: Pros: - Nice cars many to choose from - Cost price aftermarket parts if u buy a car + free servicing for a limited time Cons: -Cars stored outside, high pressure selling, (tried to make me sign a contract so i could test dvrive a car) -Cars are majorly overpriced (Wanted 24.5gran for s2 r33 gtst, told him "mate ill give u my number call me when u want to discuss a reasonable price. Got a call in 3 days offering 19gran for the same car, told him still too expesive) Kamikaze Motors (Nearly bought a car from here) Pros: - Very good service [from the boss], knew what he was talking about, friendly, no high pressure selling - Cars kept in a indoor showroom, many cars to choose from, very nice clean cars [the best i saw] Cons: - two showrooms (1 in keilor 1 in nanawading) - Cars a little expensive (but they are in good nik) - No warranty, must pay extra for warranty Meticulous Motors in morrabin Pros: - Cars are cheap Cons: - Really really bad service (u feel like they dont want u to buy a car) - Cars are in really bad condition - Seem a little dodge To be continued... (have to goto work)

Tein Ha Adjustable Suspension
Taso84 replied to Taso84's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hey, ive been driving around more lately and had mates in the car and everyone has basically convinced me that the suspension is MAD and that i'd be an idiot to sell it. Plus i am getting used to the bumpyness, it makes it feel more sporty. My dad wasn't too impressed though. Theres a funny squeaking noise whenever u go over bumps. My dad reckons that the seals are gone on the shocks but apparently teins have a rep of being really noisy so im not sure. I'll prob take it down to centreline when exams are over, see what they reckon Thanks for ur help guys, if i decide to adjust the suspension i'll prob just take it down to the mechanics (Pedders are extremely unhelpfull). -
Hey ego, i just bought a skyline 2 weeks ago and trust me, its not a decision i will be regretting. They are MAD in every single way possible, seriously there is very little downside. 1. They're fast 2. They're VERY good looking 3. Thery're reliable (from what ive heard from many other pple. RB25 is bulletproof) 4. The fuel economy is pretty damn good for such a powerful sports car 5. Chicks love them 6. They are very do-upable. U dont have to spend relativel much to increase power 7. Bang for your buck, they are probably the best buy on the market 8. What else do u want in a car Word of advice for u ego. Dont be too much of a tightass when buying one. Trust me u will reget it down the track if u dont spend that extra 2-3 gran and make sure u get something with everything u want. (My mate bought an auto one trying to save himself 3 gran 6 months ago, now he is SPEWING). Its is worth getting a loan and making sure u get something ur 100% happy with otherwise what is the point of buying a skyline??!! Good luck hope this helps

So if i get the tool and adjust the springs down are u saying it wont do anying to make the ride less harsh? -
Cool that clears that up, so its a T3. So now, which is better, T3 or T28?
-
Hi all, All my mates and i are having a huge argument about the type of turbo in my car. Can anybody clarify this? In a '95 GTS-T (series 1.5 i think since i got an airbag) is the turbo a T28 or a T30. Also is it a ceramic one or a ball bearing one. Cheers

Yea, i think my car is at the factory height too, coz it had to be complianced. U think if a lower it an inch it will be better? I dont really want to do it myself coz i dont want to f*ck anything up. Whate a good place to take it so they can look at it and give me good advice. Apparently BOB Jane on cnr Dandinong/Warrigal roads is pretty good. One other problem is that its gota bodykit on it so if a lower it, it might bottom out, but yea captainah, what u said sounds a lot like whats happening to my car. Can pre-load on the springs wear out the shocks or anying? -
