  1. Thanks for the replies.. I should have mentioned... that I did have the plugs/coilpacks replaced...and then a faulty injector..I was pretty sure (and so was the mechanic) that this would solve the issue..but it didnt..and it seems worse in the cold weather.. But these made no change...nd it still runs rough when cold..once warm.. it runs ok..but will splutter and hesitate when "kicked in the guts"..but seems to come good after a few good "squirts"...it only seem to do it under load as well..if I stop and rev the engine it sounds fine.. One other thing I notice is that the Murano seems to rev quite low when started..unlike most every other car Ive owned that revs higher for a while until they warm up..could this also indicate a faulty AFM? Cheers.
  2. Well Iv'e not been on this forum for a long time..so its about time I rekon... I had a lot of imports in the past but I currently have a Murano (see pic) that is close to being a very nice car..but is proving tricky to get the way I want it.. As you will spot from the pics..it has 20 inch wheels and has been lowered...(more on that later in the post).. I am wondering if anyone has any info on a "Nissan guru"..(hopefully in the west/north)...that could do some work on her? The Murano has the 3.5 litre engine that I think is common to a lot of other Nissan's.. Basically runs fine but has some weird fault..plant the foot..and she splutters and hesitates..do it three or four times and it seems to "clear out"... Its an odd car and the CVT can be strange..particularly in the city where the car feels like a manual taking off in 4 gear..and typically doesn't go over 2 thousand revs's...but..on the open road..with the trans in manual mode...she has quite a lot to offer...so..thinking that If I can get some tuning done and perhaps some exhaust mods..that it will be a great ride...please let me know if you can recommend anyone. The other issue is the suspension..car is currently on Kings springs with KYB shocks/struts. I had a set of Yellow speed coil overs at one point but after 4 or 5 return visits to my suspension guys...they were replaced...as we couldn't get the coil overs to adjust to anywhere near a decent ride..The kings/KYB set up is still B grade and I'm looking for an alternative..not too easy to find for a Murano..it looks ok but the initial shock absorption is rubbish..again any info would be appreciated..
  3. Not a forced sale..I loved the Stag..but I hardly drove it. We have 2 other cars in the family..plus a freind has left his porsche 911 with me while he is OS...plus paying rego and insurance..it all added up to letting her go. ..that being said..I am cashed up and its a really good time to buy..I am trying to be sensible and save my money..but... I just saw a skyline 350GT manual ..the cheapest one I have seen...I am tempted! Its just a pity that for the first time since I got into imports I can see cheaper better cars being sold localy than from places like J-Spec and imports 101..its a real shame and I wonder if the days of going on line and drooling over the cars for sale in Japan are over. As an example I saw a manual TT soarer for 10K on ebay..not a bid..they are twice that from Japan.Aristos,R34 sedans..even TT supras and GTO's..all cheaper than you can import from Japan.. I guess its good for local buyers..but the importers must be suffering big time...and if this trend keeps going..then the importers will stop buying and the import scene may suffer..I hope not...but it doenst look good to me from that perpective.
  4. Well it has happened. I sold my S2 yesterday so I am no longer a stagea owner. It was sure hard to see her go thats for sure. Althought I kept in the backgound, I was on this site most every day. I found it was invaluable and one of the most down to earth forums around. So thanks to all the other stagea owners and those that have contributed to the wealth of knowledge on the site. I will leave you all with a couple of pics of the car that my mate took the other day. Cheers and all the best. Scott
  5. I agree that going back to 17's and a 45 profile tyre will help a bit.. I still find it a bit odd that most owners refer to their standard set up as soft..my standard set up was rock hard..(with four people and a full load... the springs hardly moved at all)... What I would realy like is the firmness of what I have now...but with more dampening to take away the initail "wack" of bumps..perhaps a set of good coilovers would give me this??? The reason I was thinking soft springs is...I drove my sons commodore the other day..it felt like a boat..but didnt have that initail "wack" from bumps... Hope that all makes sense..wanted to get some feedback so I can figure out my best plan of attack. Cheers
  6. I love my Stagea but I would like to make the ride more compliant..(I drove on some great winding roads the other day...and the car was magic..but for day to day driving..I find it too harsh). I am running some newish KYB shocks with original springs commpressed about an inch at present. From what I am told... Most Coilovers have an even harder ride than the standard set up.??? (comments please) If this is the case... I am thinking of trying to get hold of some softer springs.Any one know of any? Cheers. Scott
  7. I am back looking to swap or sell..dont need the wagon so a smaller import would be nice ..open to sugestions. Cheers.
  8. only a guess but i think it may be there to stop the filter moving around and becoming dislodged..so in a way sound deadening
  9. I still have these. They are free to anyone local that wants to arrange to pick them up.
  10. I picked up a sey of KYB's with springs from one of our fellow wagon owners for a very low price.So.. I thougth that I would offer my old set to anyone that wanted them for nicks. They are from a S2 RS4-V. The shocks felt like they were topping out on the front but the rears felt ok.... the guy that put my new set in said they had no leaks that he could see.Would suit someone that was after some standard springs or maybe a standard set up for compliance. Pick up from Ascot Vale Melbourne. PH: 93262745. Cheers. Scott PS. I had my new set (KYB's SR specials with standard springs) Put in by suspension City in North Melb. They do this thing where they compress the spring to lower the car.Its a great way to go if you only want to lower your car a little ( 30-40mm which is still ok to do with most normal shocks) Car feels great and only costs around $220.(thats for the fitting and spring compression).
  11. more interested in selling now..as I need to cart some gear for my new job..looking at straight sale or swap for nice ute.
  12. Whilst talking to someone about the stagea suspension.. and how hard mine was..it was sugested that I consider going to a larger diameter/profile tyre to get a better ride..the car allready has 235/40/18's which by an online calculator are larger than the original 205/55/16's... another size up would be 245/45/18..I am tempted to try this..so..I am wondering if anyone else has ever tried this on a vehicle or has any thoughts...I know it will gear the car lower and make the speedo go out (it's allready out by almost 10kph at 100kph)...but if they are the only effects then I may consider doing this. 205/55/16=631.69mm 235/40/18=645.16mm 245/45/18=677.67mm
  13. Interested in swapping for a manual import.. like a clean R33 with some mods+ a bit of cash my way ..or an R34 with a bit of cash the other way.... but open to other cars.
  14. I have found two long leads with mini jack conections that are tucked away in the cavity next to the rear passager seat..looks like they are coming from the amp that sits up behind the cover where the seat belt retracts..just wondering if any one knows if the head unit areial inputs are in fact two mini jacks..looks like they have never been hooked up..cant figure out what else they can be.. cheers.
  15. I was told that my stagea would not pass a road worthy (victoria) with the none standard BOV it has.I was surprised as it was checked by "Vic Roads" and was passed when I first got the car .Can anyone tell me if this is the case and if so what the "standard" set up is on the S2??? thanks.
  16. Would anyone know if the rear cargo blind is the same for S1 and S2. Thanks
  17. There is a lot in the media about "Carbon Credits"..althought not a specific Stagea issue...I wanted to raise the issue as I wanted to get some feedback from others. From what I can gather the carbon credits scheme is just another half arsed tax that some wanker thought up to give even more Money to the alrealy fat govt coffers..from what i know ( and I hope I am wrong)..bassically the way it works is polluters have to pay a taxe(buy credits) to pollute..so this is meant to make them want to stop...yeh right..all this will do is move the cost of the "credits" to little old you and me!...rather than actually making real steps to a cleaner planet...in true knee jerk fashion...our smart men in suits have found another way to make you pay.. Any way dont worry..the electric car is only around the corner..petrol prices are high because they want to make as much money as possible before the flood of alternative fuels...not because there is a lack of oil (not sure if i really believe this myself..but it makes a bit of sense) Check the electric car...0 to 100k's in 3.9 seconds...%100 torque and a red line of 13,000 RPM!..I want one! http://www.teslamotors.com/
  18. Thanks for the info and the pics..much appreciated. I think they are a good size to go for..particularly with my car being standard height (cant drop it much with the low dolphine front bar). What size tyres are you running being a 9" rim I am guessing 255/35/18 ??? Cheers and thanks again.
  19. Mine does the same thing..more so when its in triptronic mode..mine has a big exhaust and Blow off. From what I know it does this as a result of running rich and the poping is unburnt fuel..it can also be a result of a worn out O2 sensor I believe. I dont think it is a major cause for concern...sounds cool...but..the thought of using more fuel than is nessesary..aint a good one.
