  1. As many would know...the true K's and the amount showing on the speedo of imports can be two different things! I purchased my s2 stagea with 38.000 on the clock...Although my head tells me this is false, the car has been checked out by a couple of "in the know" mechanics and they say it looks so clean that the low K's may well be correct. The wear on the drivers seat indicates high K's...the clean under body indicate low K's ( and I dont just mean clean looking)...Now to my point.. I am not that fussed about the K's apart from the fact that I know if the timing belt breaks because it has not been changed...it means an expensive repair...I know that in an r33 they was a tamper seal that could tell you if the car had the timing belt changed...and now my real point of the post.....does any one know of any other way to get a true indication of the K's that the car has done, or when the timing belt would need to be changed! I know its all a bit convoluted but you know what they say about prevention being better than the cure! cheers. Scott.
  2. Your not wrong about cops leaving us alone..it is a bit of a generalization, and I am, sure one could make a stagea look "bad" enough for cops to take notice....but as long as you pick your spots for right foot fun...and dont be silly then the conservative nature of the stagea will help keep the smell of pork from overwhelming your senses. For me the Stagea is good compromise...I have had 2 r33's...the stag is heavy and its bulk means it will never handle like a smaller car. For the price...I have found nothing else that can come close to the versatile nature of the stag....to my mind you have to look at WRX hatch backs...MAZDA MPS or maybe the CX7....all of which are mega buck more than the stagea! I am a muso and need to cart gear and family....the stagea does it in style!
  3. ....Cedric....Silvia....Stagea...I like the funny Nissan names....quirky...just like the cars....I hope the dopey names put other people off so there are more around for those of us that know the true value of the cars.
  4. I still love my Stagea but have to get some bigger wheels to fill up the guards.. it came with 17's..they look way too small..I know 18' fit with no probs but I am wondering how much bigger I could go (in total) before it would become problematic.I know I am restricted buy what will physically fit ...but a what stage would it start to affect performance/acceleration. My logic tells me a larger overall wheel/tyre would decrease acceleration..and show a slower speed than reality...???? I am not thinking stupidly big....18's or 19's with a larger side wall profile is what I am thinking of. Cheers Scott.
  5. I have read a few of the threads regarding this ...but just wanted some confirmation that a set of GRT 18x9 with +25 offset wheels will fit on my S2 (not lowered) . The rears have a bit more dish than the front but off set is the same and both are 9". Also what size rubber would be the go on these? Cheers.
  6. Here is some info I got from an official Stagea site. Transmission Dualmatic M-ATx (Electronically controlled 4-speed Automatic Transmission) Gear ratio 1st 2.785 2nd 1.545 3rd 1.000 4th 0.694 Reverse 2.272 Final 4.083 so isnt final OD and what Im on about ?
  7. I know the they are the same stud size but in general will 17"' R33 whees fit on a stagea with no problems? I did read as much as I could on wheel and tyre size threads but still I am a bit in the dark. Thanks.
  8. Thanks for all the info...I should have said this before.... but what I mean is the little change AFTER 4th gear! I assumed this was OD???...maybe its somthing else (lock up???)...or have I got one with five gears?haha..It definatly does have another shift after 4th on mine but only in normal auto..in sports or triptronic mode it stays in 4th...if you put it back to normal auto it does another shift. I guess another S2 triotronic owner could say if their car dose this.
  9. The S2 Triptronic has no OD button or power switch ( that I am aware off). It has only done this a couple of times. I just hope its a glitch and not an indication of anything bad to come.
  10. Hi. I noticed when I first got the car that it did not go into OD until it warmed up a bit and thought this was normal. In the last week or so I have noticed it is sometimes not going into OD. I would like to get some feed back to try and negate any costly trany work.Any one have the same thing? cheers.
  11. If any one has a set of 350Gt original mags that they are looking to sell please contact me . Cheers. Scott. ph:03 93262745.
  12. Hi..just a word of warning..my Stagea was transported down from Qld (a year ago now) using TNT..they not only damaged the car (cracked the front spoiler and put two big scratches on her) but tried dam hard not to admit any fault. It took a lot of hassling to get them to pay up. Who ever you decide to go with I advise this..DO NOT sign the paper work until after you do a proper inspection of the car...if there is any damage at all that you were not told of by the dealer..ring the dealer and confirm this. When they delivered mine the paper work was shoved in my face at the front door and the delivery bloke took of down the street before I had a chance to see the damage!.... Cheers
  13. Here is the email from the seller of the TSC units: Hi Scott, You are correct in that you cannot run RWD on the Stagea. The only vehicles that can are R32 GTR & GTS4's. However, the main functionality of the Extreme TSC, which is torque split control (controlled by the dial from 1-10), does work perfectly on the Stagea. You get the same functionailty as you would if you had an R33 or R34 GTR fitted with the TSC. What do we think?....worth the bucks?..would be good to hear from anyone that has one already one in a R32. Scott.
  14. I know this topic has been discussed at great length..but I though that I would let you all know that I just got an email form the guy that sells these units informing me that it is now available and proven to work on stageas!....I have contacted him and asked him to supply more details.I am sure lots of us will want one if he can assure us that they work safely. Sounds to good to be true and I know others have said its not possible..I will post again when I get the details. He has them on speacial at $199. plus postage...stay tuned! Scott.
  15. yep that was me...I took a look at the show ( I was hoping to see a new skyline but none there)...I parked in the fed car park and was probably in transport bar downing a beer o two when you all showed...sorry to miss you...next time for sure!
  16. I have seen one of the new stageas on ebay. I also thought they were a non turbo ..but this one says it is a turbo. So compliance must be already happening..unless it was brought in as a private import...seems odd that the newer skylines are not turbo but the stagea is...a good reason to get one!...
  17. Hey chaps, I'm thinkin the same thing..meeting up at the show and shine. Just need a rough time and place. Scott.
  18. Thanks Chaps...I know exactly how I want the car to feel so I want to do a lot of research because I think getting the right set up can be very difficult to attain...To me my S2 although not bad.. is hard on bumps at low speed yet seems too soft when I drive harder.
  19. The car does have an after market BOV and a large after market exhaust system...guess I will have to wait and see if it happens again..
  20. Just wondering if any S2 onwers had upgraded to coil overs . If so what brand and with what results...I am starting to feel like my S2 is not "planted" enough . Scott .
  21. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else or if anyone knows what may have caused this. I was approaching a green arrow which turned amber, I decided to stop..it was a controled but qick stop..the car stalled just as it stopped...it started again ..and didnt do anything unusual after. Just seemed a bit weird.Any thoughts? Cheers Scott. It is an auto by the way.....
  22. I was only thinking a couple of nights ago that I've had my stagea since feb last year, and apart from a service and fuel, I havnt had to spend a cent on her.I've been slowly making my way through many of the imports (2xR33,1xSoarer TT,2XIsuzu Gemini) as they are unbeatable value for money. The stagea is my atempt at being sensible and still having a car with some get up and go..she does the job well.
  23. Hi . After going through two diferent speed reading devices (one on the way to Geelong and the other on the Hume) It looks like my speed is not showing the correct KPH..And the most annoying part is.. I am going slower than I thought!!!...at 110 on the speedo the detector said I was doing 103. I hoped it was wrong but the second time (through a different one) made me think its probably right. I would like to know if anyone else has found this. I dont like it ..even thought it will help prevent speeding fines.I am guessing it is a result of the after market wheels rather than a speedo fault. My tyres are 45/235/17 If this is a result of a larger overall diameter then some acceleration will also be lost. I know its a minor issue but I would just like to get some thoughts. Cheers. Scott
  24. Hi...just wondering if anyone else has had this happen. It has only done it three or four times over six months. When I turn off the ignition, I hear this loud moan/groan type sound coming from the rear of the car..I am thinking its the fuel pump in the tank (I guess theres one there)..anyone had the same thing happen or have any ideas?? Scott.
  25. If you cant find anything local you may want to check this lonk to a jap parts action site http://www.slidewizeimports.com/index.html
