  1. I contacted ISC recently...they are one of this sites sponsors..and was happy to get a reply saying that they do have coilovers for the Stagea. At $1499 plus $40 delivery...I am thinking they would be a good thing...I am just wondering if anyone else has already fitted them to a Stagea...or has any feedback on what they are like. Thanks. Scott
  2. This topic has come in very usefull and is good timing..I was looking at my car yesterday as was wondering how the hell I would replace the front indicator globes (if they blew)...my stag has a dolphin front bar so it looked like I would need to put it on a hoist to get behind the bar....now I know they can be accecssed from the front...my fog light dont work either ..so I checked the fuse..it is there..so I guess the wires may be cut..will check it out soon...has anyone elst got their fog lights going?
  3. Hi..I have full comprehensive with "shannons"..I am paying just $68 a month cos I told them I only drive the car a couple of times a week (which is the case)..still ends up at about $1100 per year. The reason I want to know if anyone has made any claims.(where the stagea needed repairs) is this..I figure most pannel shops would have a hard time finding parts and so the cost and time involved would be considerable..(not aproblem if I am not paying for it true)...but.....I was thinking....I could most likely source the parts cheaper and quicker ...I also know a very good pannel shop that are very good and resonabley priced...I am starting to think I may be better off with just 3rd party insurance when all these factors are taken into consideration..your thoughts please.
  4. here here..very nice...can you tell me what brand the wheels are and size please...they look great!...do they rub anywhere?
  5. ended up using some dextron III.. only needed to be toped up...will see if the noise goes away now that its full.
  6. I had the "Noise" happen again today...I checked the Attessa fluid (resivoir in the back drivers side) ..this time with the engine runnig (as someone said this was the way to do it)...I thought it was sitting on the min level..but when I stuck my finger in the resivor to comfirm this.....I was surprised to find ..what I thought was the fluid...was a filter of some kind..either that or the fluid has turned to rubber!....can some confirm : 1) This is a filter that sits at the min level of the resivoir. 2) I fill it with "Castrol Transmax Z" auto trans fluid (please inform me of any other type thats ok to use) Thanks guys.
  7. Whoops ..sorry didnt read all the add..is the car in the pic fitted witht the springs in question?...a bit hard to see the amount of lowering cos of the darknes around the wheels...
  8. your ebay add say pick up only....sure about this...how many Stagea's in the ACT??
  9. Do you think " 1996.10-2001.10 RS-Four AWD" means will they fit 96 to 2001 model??..so will fit S2?? We will forgive them for saying AWD when it should be 4WD.... Also 51mm drop in the front and 25mm drop on the rear...bit of a big difference bewteen f/R..did you have them on ?
  10. another great driving song!
  11. Hey...STAGEA porn...I love it!.....great to put the cars in a color order....BUT...the music!!!...I know your son did the clip ( I have one of the little buggers myself)...but please ..its your job to tech him of our great music heritige..if your gunna show a class wagon..dont play that rubbish over it...that stuff should only be played for old commadores...honda civic's..maybe a pimped out Rex....Myself ...I prefer Deep Purple...Glen Hughs..local boys like Thirsty Merc are cool.....even if it does make the clip more "PORN"....I cant keep it up...all that talk..but so little to say...but... I'm hip...I'm chillin...I is bad....I'm down..."Homy Dog" Guess I am gunna cop it now.......lets just open up a topic on who like to play what in their stag...I think I have let my opinion.. be known.."Hyway Star" cranked up...pure filth! PS. Why do those rapp singers were belts when thier pants are so low???..
  12. I am glad I am not the only one that likes the triptronic...I worked as a driving instructor in a manual car and it was enought to put anyone off using a clutch for good!(using the duel control clutch)....that being said there is the odd occation when I would like total control and a clutch..but for anyone that is a general city driver that wants a sporty feel when the time is right...the triptronic is great....its almost like having two diferent cars...when I put mine in triptronic mode, it does little backfires when I backoff..burbles..gets the blow off puffing..or I can put it in auto and put around.
  13. When this thread was first up, I checked my Attessa fluid and it was fine. I still think it has something to do with the fuel tank. Still happens now and then to mine.. but never when the tank is full..and only makes a noise when I turn the car off....something to do with the fuel pump..still ot sure... but it does not seem to do anything apart from make a noise.
  14. Yeh I assumed by the type of seal around the cover that it was meant to be air tight..problem is it is not..moisture is getting in somewhere to cause the corrosion..letting air in.. to stop it turning into a greenhouse is what I am trying.
  15. Hi all.I have just replaced my third headlight globe in not to long a time (S2)...the first 2 were on the drivers side..the 3rd on the other side. I had noticed moisture in my headlight at times but have only now put 2 and 2 together. The seal on the back of the light is so good that it seems to trap moisture which in turn starts to corode the wiring near the globe. What I have done is to drill a tiny hole in the back of the covers to let air in. I hope this will stop the condestion and also the corotion causing the globes to blow. Not a major issue but could cause a short and probably shortens the life of the globe.Worth a check as the recent one was so coroded that any longer and I would have had to replace the wiring going to the globe.A job that would probably require the headlight to be removed. Cheers. Scott
  16. Coil overs are not out of the question ...but there was a chap recently that had coilovers with a dolphin kit that had a problems with the car being too low. Low cars look great but are a pain (with a low bodykit) so I dont want to lower mine very much.. I would like to know if puting a slightly softer spring would help...the standard springs are so hard that it feels like the shocks dont get a chance to do anything!!...weird thing is I seem to be the only S2 owner that thinks the standard setup is too hard..I would like to try a softer spring to see if it helps...I have seen after market springs with a rate of : Front: 3.4 and rear 3.2. I would be intersted to know if anyone has any info or thoughts on this (spring rates)...what I am after is the euro type of suspension set up...plush but not boat like....maybe its not possible....I have been in a couple of standard commodors lately and I like the complinat ride..getting back into the S2 is like getting into a go cart after the commador...sure it feels nice and firm and has less body roll..but somewhere inbetween would be nice.
  17. Hi all, I have been thinking about a suspension upgrade for ages but not sure what to go for.I know there are lots of threads, and I have read most of them.I wanted to get some feedback before I make a choice.... The standard set up.. to my mind... is good and firm.. but has really bad dampening...I feel every tiny bump.I want to retain the firmness..but get more dampening..I dont want the car to be much lower..maybe just a tad.. (as it has a dolphin body kit) and I have heard some coil over systems sit the car low. Will good coilovers give me the firmness with good dampening??...Would a set of really good shocks do the trick if I dont want the car lower? I would like to get the thoughts of other S2 owners that have aftermarket set ups...and their opinions on what to go for. cheers. Scott.
  18. I know modern cars like the stagea can handle a lot but I am always methodical about when I turn the air con on/off. Like any machine it will work better doing one thing at a time. I always let the car start and idle for a while before puttng on the air con or lights..or in fact anything..I see other people do things like leaving the air con on and just switching the car off with the air con still on..so it will restart with the aircon on...I may be pedantic but I alway think its better to start the car with nothing else on and stop it in the same way. I also return my car to normal auto trans mode before I drive in my house if I have been in triptronic mode..
