I think a lot of us have "tested" the top speed of our cars... but if I was caught, I wouldn't use an excuse. It's my bad, and i'd just cop it on the chin, so to speak.

Spotted a black R33 GTS-T with chrome wheels at Five Dock in the subway car park. He gave me a wave, which I returned

If you can't control the power, either a) Don't turn up the boost more!!! B) Invest in a decent tyre / suspension setup to reduce traction loss c) Drive by the throttle With that kind of power though, I don't think you'll ever NOT get it to spin. Ahhh, how I wish I had your problems !!!!
-
Try new spark plugs as well.... It could also be a faulty coilpack.
-
Best to put it in general mainteance dude: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/fo...isplay.php?f=10 Also do a search, thats TONS of threads about this (as I said on FFF)... search

Yeah, i've tried: - Cleaned the AFM - Cleaning the AAC - Cleaned the throttle body - Then reset the ECU Now it idles higher (800rpm or so, compared to 600rpm - I think I just need to adjust the idle), but is still a little rough. I'll eventually get around to taking it to a mechanic and get them to check the TPS, O2 sensor etc, but for the moment i'll just put up with it

Hi all, Does anyone suggest a place to purchase carbon fibre inserts for in the sides of the wing? Doesn't need to be genuine carbon fibre - as long as it looks decent Thanks, Tommo.

Good to hear you like the photos - anyone wanting full res examples should email him They were taken with my Nikon D70 actually - had to work during the day, so he took the photos for me... he's a great photographer IMO

I actually just got new wiring put in (last week to go with the new fuel pump - a relay kit to run a solid 12v, and you can hear the fuel pump whining away Thanks for the info - i'll have a more detailed search... Cheers, Tommo.

Hey, My car idles badly.. It never stalls, but is very rough and feels like it's missing on idle. The idle speed often sits anywhere between 600 and 800rpm... it seems to be worse when cold, but is very unpredictable (sometimes it idles great, othertimes it doesnt). Mods: cat back exhaust 500hp walbro fuel pump Any idea what could cause this? As soon as I start driving, the car drives great... just idles crap sometimes, and it shits me. (as I do a lot of driving in traffic / peak hour) I was thinking injectors might need cleaning? The reason i'm asking on here is to try and save some money, don't have tons of it sitting around at the moment Cheers, Tommo.

wrecking R33 94 model

Standard swaybars, or modified ones? -
I work with this guy by the way - NO PLATES, unless today is the last time you want to see female genitials for the rest of your skyline owning life.
-
Those plates are pathetic - i'm about to throw my apple at you Babylon.

For you guys suggesting it's not pinging, tell me what this noise is I reckon it's pinging AND missing personally.. as I said above. Pinging due to 15psi on stock cooler, and missing due to high boost and plugs not gapped to support it.
-
So it was spiking boost, or running unlimited boost, or?
-
Yep, that slow machine gun is defintely pinging. If it's audible like that, it's pinging very very badly. Turn the boost down!! Not sure on how much the Walbro or Bosch intanks can handle, but they are quoted at about 500HP... lots of people on here with 250kw at the rears plus still only have intank replacements, so they'll support plenty of power :)
-
I bought a Walbro fuel pump for $230. There's cheaper options out there, but you'll have to wait. Are you SURE it's not just missing, do you actually hear it ping? You said you had a "tune", did this involve putting it on the dyno and watching the AFRs? If it's just missing, it's most likely that your plugs need re-gapping to a lower spec (ie 0.8mm instead of 1.1mm), due to the higher boost. Could also be a coil pack is on the way out.

You'll get asked this question a lot, so i'll do it for you. I assume you cannot provide pipes as well?
-
Make sure you get a dyno run, and check your fuel pump is flowing enough juice in it's current form, and the car is making the power it should. I'd personally upgrade the fuel pump as one of your first mods. For a couple of hundred dollars, it could help prevent the car lean out, and will provide enough juice to support the mods you want to install. I'd then do (in the following order): - Turbo back exhaust (3inch - will be above the legal limit, but it's impossible to get a sports exhaust below the legal limit.. even stock WRXs are 89DB, the noise limit is 90DB). Go to your local exhaust shop for this. $1000 - $1500 depending on what you get - Replacement air filter in standard airbox. You can order this online, or get your local Repco etc to order one in for your skyline. $100 - Front Mount inc piping. You can order this online. Price depends on what brand you want. Estimate about $1000 or so. - Boost controller (turn it up to 12psi, on a dyno, to make sure it's running ok). Buy from most performance workshops, or order online. $100 for a T Piece mechanical controller. - ECU (PowerFC). You can order this online from Japan to save some money, or just buy one second hand. You could just get a SAFC or something similar if you are on a budget. $1k for the PFC + ~$500 for tuning Also invest in some good tyres to get traction. This is too open ended of a question, you really need to specify a budget if you want exact answers and recommendations.

Yeah, I test drove a few R34s are they felt a lot more nimble than the R33s, thats for sure... and defintely felt more 'nippy'... I ended up with a 33 though - couldn't justify the extra cash. Good to hear your having fun, you sound pretty excited about it all lol
-
lol - that's about a 20minute drive?
-
Normally they just to get the maxium reading the dial can go to (ie just over 180km/hr), and the speedo dial will just sit there and not move, yet your still accelerating. Buy a cheap speed meter (Pivot make some good ones), and that way you can still tell what speed you are doing.

I've got a Silver 33 with white wheels, might help you decide? http://users.bigpond.net.au/m_thomas/tommoskyline.jpg Cheers, Tommo.
