I figured that some of our more seasoned members might be interested in this and have something to say about its worth. My mother in law is moving house and in the process it has been revealed she's been sitting on this potentially unique specimen. It's her fathers car and apparently it was his baby, only driven on the the odd weekend as he was a bike fanatic and rode everywhere. So the K's were apparently quite low, which is not all that interesting, but it gets a little odd from there. The story goes, that he was close friends with the GMH directors at the time, there was apparently 3 of them, and one of them had an eye on some old American tank he had at the time. So he told the GMH chap that he could have the car in exchange for a new Statesmen which was apparently a fair deal. The car in question looks fairly normal, albeit in maybe better condition than I expected it to be, but there is absolutely no petrol fuel system on the car, it's purely gas. Again, the story goes that this was one apparently only 3 prototype cars fitted with straight gas and was owned by one of the GMH directors. Facts are lost in time so none of this could be accurate, but the pics show the car to be in fairly good condition and it's definitely a straight gas car. The question then becomes, does that make it fall into the rare (interesting) catagory, or the rare (valuable) catagory. I'm just about to finish building a shed and could possibly wrangle some storage space to either help her out if it's worth keeping hold of, store it myself if I bought it while it builds value, or she could just sell it off as she has nowhere to keep it after her move. Thoughts/comments welcome I've been told there are pics of it washed and clean and I can get more in a few weeks. It apparently needs a radiator and some seals done in the engine due to sitting for so long, I've told her to hold off replacing anything unless, she can genuine parts, while I do some fact finding.

*cough* "Lets keep this on topic please guys."

Thanks for the update. Hopefully with new/better sensors in place, you'll be fine for a while. Did you talk to Willall about other upgrades while you were there for some of the common failure points?

You've worked out my secret... I never really died.

Yeah, a few minutes of his talking and I'd be out cold too

Sometimes going to bed early is worse. When I go through a bad sleeping phase I'm usually mentally active when I hit the sack which keeps me awake. So To break that cycle, I stay up later and watch a movie/play a game/read a book. Which clears my mind. Sleeping solidly between 12 and 6 is better than going to bed at 9 and tossing and turning all night. A good stiff drink or two can also mellow you out (it helps me on rare occassions).

I think I said before, if you aren't sleeping that should be your focus, not training. Back rounding is not the end of the world, when Matt spotted me, he showed me that when I thought my lower back was rounding, it was my upper back and the lower was fine, people see upper rounding and freak out. This coming from a guy with a bad back at the moment... but I think my issues are more to do with my mechanics being uneven. You need to get some decent sleep, you're going to cause yourself more injuries without proper rest time to recover/heal/build.

Well sounds like something is strained/out. You've either been repeatedly straining something and it's given up, or your form was off last night and you've loaded up badly. Either way, how are you feeling today? You might have to take a break from DL.

Did a 2 setter on Monday to get back into the swing after my week off, which wasn't really much of a week off but anyway. Last night, mixed it up a bit, dropped breaks from 2mins down to 1min, then 90 secs and lowered the weight a little on the bench knowing that the shorter breaks would make it harder, kept it the same for chins/dips. Managed 8/8/6 on each of my weighted motions, bench, chins, dips. Had no issue doing rows. Aside from that, between each of the heavier things did heaps of bodyweight squats, prob 60 reps at least, heaps of calf raises with a few dumbells, good mornings, pretend deads, some dumbell lunges and a good 2.5mins of planking while moving around, as in 30 sec front then switch to right side, then left, then back to front, just kept alternating. Was a good 40min session with a good heart rate going the whole time. Trying to shorten sessions but keep up some intensity and burn a few more calories, that plus some food changes sees my mid section leaning off a little and the old abs showing up more. There's been no improvement in my back/leg discomfort. Heel raises haven't changed anything. Admittedly I haven't been doing that calf stretch, but that was more an ankle rom issue where as I feel the back is an actual injury. I might head back to the Chiro and get an ultrasound or an MRI and see what's going on with the soft tissues.

Helpful posts, 2 thumbs up, would read again.

My problem solving process is to pull back from extra cirriculuars, thigns like gym, working on the car, etc, and focus on the main issues at play. That could be sleep, not eating right, trouble with the partner etc. Focus on one thing at a time, chip away. There's no such thing as a zero day, that is, every day you live, you make progress towards something. So for you, 3hrs of sleep is an issue, that should be goal number 1. If it's caused by stress, have an honest look at what you feel is causing you stress, the first "issue" that pops into your head, now gets your attention to be resolved, and so on and so on. You'll be fine. We live better than the vast majority of people in the world, keep that in mind and stay positive for all the good things you have, don't just think about what you don't have or isn't working well.

I get like that too, for me it means one of a few things. Not enough sleep to recover from the workouts, not enough protein in the diet for growth at the new load, form issue in the exercise costing efficiency and creating a plateau. So I'll try and get to bed earlier, dose up hard on protein in my diet, and have a good look at form. I also look to mix up the rep/weight scheme or order of exercises for a new challenge. Sometimes it's just mental for me too, which given your comments of late wouldn't surprise me (no offense, you just seem like you've got a case of the Monday's). Exercise should make you feel good not bad, if it's making you unhappy, change it up. My $2.50.

Hah, nice. Yeah, got in a short session tonight after my week off (week off being digging trenches and tree holes etc, good stuff). Dost thou even lift?

Are you capable of such emotion? That's the real question here.
-
You are definitely wrong.

Go to the gym. Even an average session is better than no session imo. Go and do what you know you can at weights you feel comfy with if you're worried about pushing harder. Or you could do something different and change up the rep/weight scheme just for something new. Or stick to the same scheme which seems to have been working well for you all things considered. Really the only problem you're having is a bit of knee bend at a specific weight on one exercise. No reason to ditch an entire session for that. TL:DR: Don't be a sook, go to the gym

This is how I saw things panning out long term, and honestly, is probably for the best so long as the new owner delivers on his promises, whatever they might be, now and in the future. Not many would doubt the prices or the work, so if they remain the same, but someone else is at the helm, everybody will probably be happier. Good luck to all.

Forgive the ignorance, but is there a reason you'd rather do all of this custom, and I'm guessing costly, development rather than fit your basic 2JZ stroker? Can make the same displacement, gain variable cam timing out of the box (I thought) and cheaper? Or do they not fit easily? Genuine question, I'm a gtr lover, just wondering as you seem like a guy who does his homework so I'm guessing you've done the numbers.
