  1. Meh, see how I go for time. You might have noticed I've knocked it down a notch. I'm not looking for big gains or anything.
  2. I'll be surprised if I match it today, see what happens.
  3. I'll put it down to having had a 450gm porterhouse for lunch that day lol
  4. Forgot to update Friday. Got the 7th rep on bench pretty easily somehow, only got half way up to the pins on the 8th rep though, so I'm close enough to probably add a little weight. Tried some 20 rep squats with a huge 5kg on the bar (the bar weighs 6 I think as I was using my smaller 6ft bar as not to unload the 7ft one. Did calf raises with a bit heavier dumbbells. Managed the full set of chins and dips and did some more lunges and another 2min plank and another 2 sets of rows at 73kg which seemed OK. MY back and leg is tender today but I think that mostly came from a full day working on the car Saturday. I have the chrio again this week and I think I'll move on to podiatrist after that as I'm not getting anywhere with it.
  5. Nice DL'ing and good job on the MP. MP is a tough motion when you're getting back into it. I managed to strain a shoulder at 30kg when I started out doing it. Take it slow and steady, Rev can also comment on some excellent assistance exercises to make sure the shoulders are healthy. His suggestions helped me fix my strain.
  6. This is something that should not be overlooked. A mate of mine is an amateur bodybuilder and in just about pushing 40. He's stronger than me in a few movements and is far stricter on his diet and gym routine, yet I have some ab definition and he doesn't - despite his grueling diet and gym routine. He's being trained by a guy who's had people compete and win so he's got the right people around him, right attitude, right determination etc - he's also lower BF than I am quite easily and while that shows in his face/arms etc, it doesn't show in his stomach. You've got to think there's a genetic element in there. As a skinny kid I always had abs, easy, but as I got heavier and larger I've managed to maintain them with limited core/cardio compared to what some people say they do and don't have success. N.B. Not saying my abs are special at all.
  7. So we're back to what I said a few pages back. If you like cardio and it works, do that. that's Kate's thing, I wouldn't try and seriously get her to do anything else because it works for her and it's what she enjoys. I joke to her about squatting because I think that with some training she could be an amazing squatter, but that's something I like, not her.
  8. I've said it before and I'll say it again. If you know your body well enough to say that exercising a certain way gives you the look you want, then do that. If I recall, you started this routine because you weren't entirely happy with how you looked, otherwise why would you change your routine.
  9. It happens, make progress in one area and another can suffer, it's only temporary. Take it as a success.
  10. 100kg DL! AWWW YEAH
  11. Good news, back on track quickly is the best way to be. Or you could just not have done any track events for well over 18mths like me...
  12. So the real issue is pushing beyond the limits then? I knew CAs were prone to do head gaskets around the 200kw mark, so was not susprised when exactly that happened. At least you know where the weak spot is so you can fix it right Not having a go or anything, just dont pointing out that it can be a bit rough to say something is weak if you know what the limits are and you've pushed up to or beyond it. Everything has limits of course. I hope it's a relatively quick and as cheap a fix as it can be! Not a fun job.
  13. I think so to. I told her she could use all my gym equipment and she'd be plenty fit but she loves to run and can't due to pelvis issues since having Ella and the next best thing from her experience is extreme cross trainer action - and she goes at it like a machine. So she wants to make sure that if she buys one, it'll last. Biking could be an option too, but with a dog and Ella (and the dog is pretty good but will sometimes dawdle or do stupid things - Boxer) it could be a handful.
  14. They're a bit faster paced in that I'll now slot a few extra squat reps or something in between sets of things and keep my heart up but 2min breaks are pretty generous. If I was back to 60secs I could not do what I'm doing now in terms of weight and reps. I play with that from time to time though, longer breaks when I'm going heavier or trying top break a plateau then I'll hit a busy period at home and drop back to 60secs (with lower weight) to get it done quicker.
  15. Funny you should say that Leesh, I'd say they've gotten easier. Remember I've switched to 3x8s and backed the weight off on everything so I can come close to making the 3x8. I'm also still using 2min breaks, where as I used to go 60sec. I'm still going though so that's a good thing Chiro next week and will pull my finger out on the podiatrist. Just been so busy, shed, car, gym, etc.
  16. My post should have said Evo "lover" not over woops. Yeah anyway, just saying. That sort of failure is probably less to do the strength of the factory bottom end and more to do with something like a failed oil pump or something like that (if the engine has not been previously abused).
  17. I've always seen chins as underhand grip, pulls as overhand, grip width not that big a deal, at least shoulder width. I do weighted chins, easier on my elbows.
  18. I used to jog in the mornings also, sacrificed an extra 30mins sleep but felt great for it.
  19. OK sweet, that same site has the brand Kate was looking at in the same price bracket so I can only assume it's going to be potentially as well built.
  20. Does this look familiar? http://www.fitnessmarket.com.au/shop/sportop-e450-corporate-elliptical-cross-trainer.html#.Umg-svlmhcY
  21. Fig: Did you speak to your parents about their eliptical?
  22. MMA would be a step above compound weights I'd say. Sparring is full body recruitment, huge tax on the respiratory systems. I didn't do MMA but I did do some freestyle martial arts back in the day, nowhere near as hard a work as grappling though, and I agree it's a different type of fitness.
  23. There's obviously more to it than that lol, you don't punch a hole in the block at that power and rpm if everything has been done properly. I'm no Evo over but by most accounts the 4G is a good bit of gear.
