  1. I realised that after i put in my speakers too. I have the same setup as elbee. I wouldnt recommend hacking into your parcel tray. looks a bit messy and once u do it its doen foreever.. I got a thick bit of mdf, and basically cut it to shape using the existing parcel tray. Has to be slightly smaller coz it sits higher, and the angle of the window comes into it. The wood is about 2 cm thick. sat the 6x 9s into it. There isnt much room to move and play with, and the speakers sit at a 45 degree angle like in elbees pic. Thick wood and a bit of foam tape around the bottom to stop it vibrating from the bass the sub pumps out and your set. Sounds really good. Might be an idea to cut some holes into it and cover it with carpet or vinyl so the boot isnt completely sealed. Want to let some sound waves through!
  2. Weird that you all say that... Im still using a fairly small battery in my car. Running 2 amps, and a flashpoint alarm. The alarm has 3 immobilisers plus the little key thing in the dash where u can turn it on and off without using the remote. I'd say that uses a bit more power than ur standard alarms. Also have my gauges hooked up, not sure if they use power to keep memory settings etc. I've had my battery for over a year and never had any probs. I went away to NZ for 11 days, came back and cranked over no sweat. In theory the amp shouldnt use any real power till your deck sends it the signal. Maybe i got a magic battery? In regards to the interference as the revs go up, its to do with your earthing. Check your earthing on your car, maybe move it to a different spot and you'll be sweet. The series 2 r33 has a nice little bit of metal down behind the ash tray behind where ur deck would sit with a hole through it . Perfect for earthing with a screw and a nut...
  3. Duncan, How bout a '72 HQ SS holden?? Red with the black stripes... old skool! Sitting in the garage ready for $$ to be poured into it. Only gets driven around now to keep the battery charged Can you PM me some details?? Requirements etc Great work btw..
  4. Saw a nice looking black r32 parked next to me at work in homebush <_< Also spotted a nice R34 and red r33 GTR on figtree drive homebush. Parked there every day.... How you beat those parking rangers i'll never know.... Keep an eye out for the white r33!
  5. Hey guys, The time has come to replace the KYB front shocks on my r33 gtst Series 2. Wheels feel like they are going to come through the bonnet and car is really soft and bouncy. I was looking at getting a set of second hand teins from another member. From my limted knowledge the KYB shocks work with the standard gtst struts and strut tops. The teins however require tein struts and strut tops and WONT work with the current standard stuff i have in at the moment. Is that correct??? Is there anything else you would need to have to get the teins in and fitted properly? Is it that hard to do, looking to do it myself.... Would appreciate any feedback or advice.... Thanks
  6. thats what i thought, but i'd heard diff things from diff people. one less thing im buying..... thanks
  7. Guys, How hard is it thorwing a 400R bar off a series 1 r33 onto a series 2 gtst? Is there much of a difference in terms of where you attach it etc i.e much chopping etc? Doesnt come with lights but ive seen the clear trailer lights thrown in them that look ok... ANy thoughts? Thanks
  8. Looking for a set of front shocks for my series 2 r33. Currently have KYB's that have had enough. Starting to feel like my wheels are going to come through my bonnet. Will take back shocks if you have them for the right price. Prefer pickup in sydney. Thanks heaps guys
  9. Spotted a few last night on my regular castle hill to earlwood drive home.("the gf's house -> home cruise") White r34 stock plates ADF ***. (You've got an extra turbo on urs ) haha nice car though. always fun at 12am Then in earlwood saw a fellow white r33 gtst. Flashed high beams, the window came down, horn hazards (it was late ok). No response! Felt sorry for the taxi behind. Seen a few of u boyz around esp MAR55S.. Also saw GRUNTN's old r32, all the way from newcastle. He's looking after ur car dude! Turns out its may mates sisters bf. Small world. Was that anyone here? Mines the white r33 with white enkies, gtr wing. ASD 74f. Enjoy
  10. Don't think it would be your cable.... You said your rpm slowly climbed?? That would mean the cable would have to be getting tighter. Sounds like something internal in your throttle body.... May be worth pulling it apart and checking it out. Has it done it since?
  11. I hear ya...A car can pump out big power, it all comes down to torque, gear ratios, driver etc. I've seen a fairly decked out sportivo get beaten quite easily by a type R. I had a Vti-R civic, thrashed and hammered but still a mean little car, and the sportivo did start to pull away, not by much but never the less it still did. For a fairly new car, u get the interior etc, slap an exhaust, pod and uve got urself a nice sounding quick little car..
  12. My series 2 has similar mods to urs. Turbo back exhaust, FMIC, power FC, pod (did my own piping to get some more cold air in near the pod bcoz of the crap boxing it in) and bov. It handles 11-12PSI no sweat. no spikes etc. I havent intalled a boost controller which i been meaning to do. Just make sure u get your chip mapped spot on and you'll be sweet. I heard stories about maybe upgrading the fuel rails or pump to be able to feed it high up in the revs. I gave it a go and found it didnt make that much of a difference. I was prob running rich, and didnt really tune it but it went fine without. Spose u dont want to be pumping to much juice in it these days anyway. Petrol prices are doing my a$$ in.
