  1. Can I ask what silver this is? it will be on the build plate listed as a paint code. There's a few silvers and it's difficult to tell from photos. (athlete silver? sparkling silver? etc..)
  2. if it's the cat then can you explain why it would go away after turning the car off for 10 minutes. Again, a dead cat would give constant power loss if blocking exhaust, and in some cases a power increases in fact since the cat is a restriction to flow in the exhaust. a few questions to original poster: When you put peddle to floor when this is happening, does the engine actually rev out but car doesn't move, or do revs not climb at all? I don't think you've told us that. +1 for video also. I still think it's electrical spark plugs air flow meter throttle position sensor coil packs etc....
  3. i'm sorry but to me a "blown" catalytic converter would not cause intermittent trouble like this. A "blown" catalytic converter would be constant. Also a "blown" catalytic converter would make the car seem underpowered but not down right unusable, and overcome by turning the car off then on. I'm a little lol about about this catalytic converter idea to be honest. There is zero logic in that. Maybe its the intercooler lol? My 2 bob is that it sounds more like an electrical problem. What exactly i don't know. But electrical problems are often intermittent like this.
  4. second one under the wiper arm is radio antenna. It'ss normal. Most antenna motors are dead now anyway.
  5. This is a beautiful car. I'm currently in the market. Unfortunately I'm not after black. That would definately be the only thing holding me back. Great car and great price. One thing I'd like to ask as I'm considering a non v-spec. Can you tell me where you got the front diffuser and rear diffusers from and put on? and possibly the cost of it all? PM is fine if you want. A great car, this really shouldn't last long.
  6. have you seen the ones at sports auto group? maybe that's basically the same company as you've titled this thread just a different branch. (i don't know). I think there's 2 or 3 blue GTR's there. You seen them? any thoughts? interested to know because i've had a browse there as well, but not as into blue.
  7. Another vote for ambient air temp sensor. I had an R32 before and I remember a thing like that being just under my front bar as well, and some how i found it to be the temp sensor. I guess if you wanna find out then move it to right near your engine, or put a blow dryer on it while the cars on and see if your temp display on the AC dash display goes up....(no idea what operating range it has so I take no responsibility)......
  8. If you want flutters then run no blow of valves (block off where the BOVs were), or do the one you have on there up heaps tight. You also will need to have pod filters as you just wont hear it through the panel filter. Been covered heaps, but flutters is basically air going back the other way and your turbo chopping it up. So really the air is going back out you filter (again pod filters are louder). With a properly working BOV installed however, the air does not reverse and go back through the turbo(s), rather it either gets dumped straight to atmo (usually illegal) or it gets recirced back into the plastic air pipe between air filter and turbo (the legal way, and the stock way of doing it). If you wanna hear it, go buy pod filters and block off your BOVs. Warning: There's debatable turbo wear from flutter (lets not get into this -> search) Warning: your car may run crap/stall....some do, some dont.
  9. if you really want to do this and if they're similar to the GTST type (which i think they are), then I would suggest getting some sheet metal (you only need thin, like 3mm??) and cutting it using tin snips to the shame, then drill out the bolt holes, then pretty much bolt that down covering the hole. You can even have it between the pipe and the BOV as if its like a gasket. My GTST originally had this done to it......it looked normal but go closer and you can see sheet metal blocking off the underside of the BOV. Sheet metal can be had from bunnings, ie aluminium sheet. But its usually a biggish size for you application. Interested also to know why you only want to block one off (though i'm not entirely familiar with the GTR set up)
  10. i think it may have been covered by archaeic bloke, and by the way good effort mate!!! anyways just wanted to add my experience. I had a 1990 r32 gtst once, and the drivers sinde window started working intermittently and sometimes not at all. However, when it was not working it would make a 'click' as you press the button but nothing would happen. Anyway, i had to take off the drivers side door trim (not hard) and then locate the (what i think is) amp. Its a small black box tucked away amongst the door metal. Since i then needed to get into this box to look at it, i had to cut it open at one end with a stanley knife. you can then pull the circuit board out. Upon looking at the board i could clearly see that some connections had come apart. SO it was a simple matter of re-soldering carefully and then putting it back together.....and it all worked perfectly again!!! So...if you have the 'click' happening but no upy/downy action then the answer may well be the circuit board in this black box. goodluck!
  11. Hey long, It's basically gonna be one of what's been said so far. Either injectors, fuel lines, 02 sensors or a leak somewhere around the fuel pump cover itself. Yes a computer will help with fuel consumption but that's an extreme measure just to try and fix the consumption part. On another note, got any pictures of how the xd9's look on the car? Love these wheels on gtrs... =)
  12. basically this is already answered but its usually a leak between turbo and exhaust manifold and/or a leak between turbo and dump pipe. Gaskets may need replacing, or it's just the bolts have come loose. I've had it happen twice before (2 skylines) and fixed it twice. Not a massive deal. And it sounds much like this. hope this helps.
  13. pm replied guys, one thing that's been brought to my attention: As you can see in the photo, the BOV is attached to a pipe which mimics the stock pipe. This pipe goes from the stock SMIC up to your crossover pipe. SO i think you must be running the stock intercooler pipe up to the crossover, or similar to have this. So sorry, no adapter for other applications. If your extra keen, you can always cut the pipe this BOV is on, then cut out some of your non stock intercooler piping, then silicon joiner this thing in. But most prob wont wanna do that. cheers
  14. Hey guys got these things for sale: 1) R33 gtst blitz bov. This bov has been sprayed black for a little more stealth. i was running it on my r33 when i bought it. it has a screw at the top so u can adjust when it will release. ie, that means that you can have the flutter sound down low, but when you give it some it will release with the psshht sound up higher, or any combination. It's just a little screw that you wind in or out. 2) R32 boot lid. This is from a GTR. It has the GTR holes in it. gun metal grey. It does have some other smaller holes which will need plugging (2 tiny holes, possibly for another wing). Suits respray. negotiable. located epping area. please pm me.
  15. had the exact same set up myself... turned out my stock one was blocked off, tho looking at yours its not as obvious but there may well be a thin piece of sheet metal in there (gasket type). Mine was like a 10mm thick steel plate so it was obvious. So yeh i would think that ur stocker is blocked off...tho as someone said above their stocker wasnt blocked off in their set up....so.. dunno with mine blocked off and same bov as you it made the chu chu chu sound down low..and then a proper choooo blow off up high....chu chu chu sound is from air reversal through the turbo.....chooooo sound up top was the blow off valve opening and venting air. You can adjust when these happen on the nut on the bov...so as much or as little chu chu chu as u want......fully. ps my preference is not.. so if anyone wants to buy my blitz blow valve (i painted it in black for stealth) then they may...just pm.
  16. i MAY be interetsed in just one also BUT from ur picture it actually looks like you have one gtr BOV and one GTST BOV. One on the right is GTR, and one of the left is GTST......am i missing something here? I havent ever seen a GTR BOV set up...but i would assume they would both be identical!?...please correct me...
  17. ps my mid pipe is new as of last friday!
  18. Hey ppl Just wanted to see if anyone wanted to swap me their exhaust mid pipe (pipe from cat to dif), as i currently have a SS 3 inch xforce pipe with a hotdog resonator but wanna just make it straight through as i have an oval muffler which i wanna make loud as possible. So if anyone got a straight through mid pipe (probably xforce is best), and wanna swap or perhaps sell then pls PM me. CHeers jeremy
  19. hey anyone got one of those S2 front grille's that are black mesh with the red S in the middle??? lemme know thanks
  20. AFM is that black box that the pod usually screws too. it has an electrical plug coming off it. unscrew your pod filter, and disconnect the AFM from plug. then unscrew the hose clamp clamping the AFM to the flexible intake pipe. pull out the AFM. Now spray it with CO Contact Cleaner bought from dick smith. try and clean out the inside as well with a rag as best u can. but i dont think u should go touching the elements too much (i very carefully just like dabbed mine with a cloth to get a bit of the oil off the white strip one, but upto you). best just to spray quite a bit with co contact then leave to sit in the sun to dry it up. now just put it back together. ....this may be whats causing stall....but i'd put my money on ur non stock BOV
  21. hey guys, seen one so far it was unfortunately a bit too loud for me. so bump.
