  1. thanks for the info mate yeh its no so much dripping from directly under the rear main seal housing tho. so it seams to be dripping and then running down to fall our of the lowest point of the under tray (catch tray), but perhaps yeh it could be the cam covers and half moons and its just running down to this point one thing is tho that the oil seems pretty clear and thin...where as i would of thought oil coming out of the cam covers would of been more black and thicker... just as a note how much did u pay do get ur cam covers and half moons done the??
  2. Thanks SECUR1TY for the idea but i just checked the power steering resiovoir and its sitting right on half way on the dipstick which to me seems quite healthy ....for a skyline haha. any other ideas i have noticed that there is a bit of an oily surface on top of i what i think is the clutch assembly. like if u look into the engine bay from the passnger side ...at the back under the engine block...this surface is always oily even when i clean it with a rag a new layer forms after driving... hmmmm.... just wondering if its leaking down from here somewhere onto the drip try.
  3. hey guys i got a 1990 r32 gtst and have just had the slave and master cylinder for the clutch re-sealed or wateva u call it. i had this done cos the car was shuddering getting into gear....it fixed the problem. BUT now i've noticed drops forming on the garage floor under the car. The engine under tray is fairly damp with fluid to. i have cought some of the drips and they are oil drips and are a fairly clear fluid....and the flutch fluid that was put in was also clear... i have noticed that in the clutch resiovoir in the engine bay it is filled to about 2-3mm over the max line....so do u think the drips are from this??? the drips are dropping on the passenger side of the car so not directly under the clutch resoivoir at all....got me stumped!! is some seal maybe bust around the box area or something??? info here would be very much appreciated as i havent had any drips before i'll stop writing now..hehe
  4. i can't say i know first hand. but considering a lot of people upgrade to a rb25 turbo on their rb20's....i'd say the difference is the compressor housing because they upgrade for the larger flow. also i know for a fact that the compressor outlet attaches to a different size elbow for the two turbos. My thoughts -----> u'd b limiting the flow back down to an rb20 turbo standard basically.....tho not sure of this...someone back me up hahaha (if i'm right).
  5. dag namit..... so that's gonna havta go as well...hehe on another note i got my exhuast tested and it was 85db (legal's 90db in NSW) the exhaust is a HKS 3 inch cat back (obv not including cat) and has a resonator along the line as well....its not that loud right now question: will putting in the 3inch dump/front and high flow cat dramatically increase this level. like i've heard decibels are not linear...its sorta like 3 decibels is almost double the current sound that we hear....so surely putting the rest of the 3 inch in won't get it up over 90 db will it??? just wanna know if people with the full 3 inch usually pass noise tests??? (ie under 90 db on an rb20det)
  6. ps those pics are taken looking from the front towards the back so the pipe entering is the stock front pipe (left) ...covered in heat shield i think
  7. hey guys. just wanna know if this is the stock cat or not for an 1990 r32 gtst. i have a 3 inch cat back system...just dunno about the cat. wanna know cos i wanna complete the system so need to know if i need a cat as well also IF this isn't the stocker...then will it bolt up to one of those 3 inch JJR dump/front pipes from just jap? thanks for the help (have searched...found no pics)
  8. hey mate so did you actually pull off the compressor section to do this or just spray in there??? could it leave a residue if u just spray in there?? i too want to clean a turbo but not very confident in unbolting the compressor cover
  9. hey guys i am looking to complete my exhaust system it is currently a high flow cat with 3 inch cat back...but front section is stock i was going to go with one of those JJR split dump/front pipes (3 inch) but wanted to know will this bolt straight up to my high flow cat seing as this currently bolts to the stock front pipe, or will i need a new. like, is the front flange the same or is one side of it the stock size and the other flange the 3 in size? Also what should be used and where can i get the gasket for bolting upto the cat cos the current one looks dead ish thanks jeremy
  10. ok thanks guys. so basically a jack goes under and misses the skirts anyway so no issue here....
  11. hey guys please dont kick me in the balls for asking this but i just thought about this just then... i have a stockish 32 gtst and wanna put in a turbo and exhaust to do this i needa jack up the car however i also wanna put side skirts on dumb question...but if u have side skirts does that pretty much mean u cant jack ur car up anymore, ie u havta put it on a hoist like doesnt the jack lift up on the side skirts...or do they all usually just push under/past the skirt no worries... sorry this is prolly really dumb...
  12. hey man just throwing in a possibility. my drivers stopped working intermittently in my car. i could hear the click but no go. and it was intermittent, like if u give the door a bit of a hit then it would go sometimes what i did was take out the little black box behind the door trim (had AMP written on it) cut it open...slid out the circuit board and observed. ended up seeing a loose solder joint. i resoldered and bang hasn't stopped working since...this is a possibility but i dont know if this is the regulator or wateva u think its not...but worth a try and cost me 15c in solder and 5 c in electricity to do it myself. there have been post ups on this and its a commmon problem for this intermittent no worky stuff hope thats some help just a thought (that was for an r32 but same shit)
  13. come on kiddies...some ones gotta have some type m's lyng around....
  14. i'm no expert but to get the ball rolling for ya i think most people disabel it cos it just plain stuffs up i think it only really comes into operation at around the 80 km/hr mark (could be wrong) and it just allows the rear wheels to steer by like 1, 2 ,or 3 degrees, if u were deciding to do a U-turn at this speed. i think there's a few people on here that get the locks because of a near scare they may of had with it stuffing up on them at over 80 k/hr...others just see the light come on on the dash and the easiest solution (i think) is to just lock that crap up. i really think its sorta useless so in short i dont think there are really any benefits ...maybe in extreme racing conditions??? i haven't had any troubles from mine tho that's what ive read on these forums but i welcome corrections
  15. hey guys need your advice/widsom again i have an r32 gtst i've done plenty of searching so please dont say that and i dont have a 5 puck button clutch so please dont say that either....hehe Anyway, lately when driving in the city my car seems to shudder quite violently when slipping into 1st or reverse. and by slipping i mean the usuall stuff, not excessive. If i give it plenty of revs then fine it'll go straight into driving normally but the clutch wont last long doin this all the time. what happens is that after a while of driving the slippage is replaced by shudders as if the gearbox/clutch/engine are about to jump off. but when cold its fine, also once into gear and driving it drives sweet. through my searches i have seen someone who had this problem and it was the master cylinder, they had also found oil around the clutch peddle. i just checked my clutch peddle and on the back of it i pretty much have a whole oil refinery!! so i'm thinkin mstaer cylinder has popped it i just wanna ask is this a likely culprit for shudders gettin nito 1st and reverse (WHEN car is HOT) also how much are these and will it be a lot of work to replace ps my clutch is only 1 yr old...some sort of PBR sorta H/D thing.
  16. hey ppl i was after some side skirts for my r32 gtst. Does anyone wanna sell me some type m skirts or gtr skirts that are made for a gtst. please sydney only PM me if ya got some thanx
  17. hey mate i can't say anything about the r32 turbo becasue i haven't gotten around to my swap yet. but my r33 turbo says 45 V 4. so yeh r33 should be 45 v something (1,2,3,4).
  18. haha thanks guys i'll give it a try i thought that it would sorta unclip at the wastegate end like u said...but didnt wanna try to hard incase i made something snap...cos then there goes my whole wastegate pretty much thanks guys
  19. hey guys, i just bought an r33 turbo the other day to go on my r32. i'm still psyching up to do this thing is they say to use the r32 actuator bcs it is set at 10 pounds. no worries. i have read and searched and everyone just says to "just swap over the actuators (between turbos)" no one actually details how to do that for us backyard mechanics...they just say "it's easy" ....not even in that projectr32 website. ive tried fiddling with my r33 turbo and can't figure out whether the actutor and rod should like pull out from the wastegate end....so that u transfer actuator and rod. or whether the rod pulls out from the actuator so u just transfer the actutors and not rods... anyone able to go into detail of how these disconnect cos i dun wanna break/bend something accidentally that needs to be fairly acturate and sensitive thanks a billion jeremy
  20. hey guys picked up my turbo today got it for $300. It LOOKS to be in good condition although the dump pipe was still on so i'll havta take this off tomorrow to check the exhaust turbine...bt the seller had a good story so i trusted him...hehe anyway it had abs no shaft play so looked ok...pending whether its got exhaust blades now it was off an r33 (apparently series1) but it had 45V4 on compressor which to me is actually a very new r33/34 turbo...it has also got a steel compressor instead of nylon...go figure... anyway photo-xl: i'll be re-using my old turbo to exhuast gasket as well...so hopefully mine won't blow so if anyone knows where to get this gasket (cheaply)...u'd prob be helping us both
  21. hey kids. just lettin ya know that i checked my water line banjo size today and yep they appear to be the 24's so my 1990 has 24's so it really from my research and what i heard it looks like it was early 89's that had the 22's which will cause some prob. that's how it appears anyway.
  22. hey gt-t r34 so you had to make up a new gasket then to go between turbo compressor and elbow??? cos i may be in this situation cos lookin at buying an r33 trubo but without the gasket betwwn the compressor outlet and elbow. so what did you use?? i'm thinkin of just goin to repco or somethin and seein if they got some metal gasket material. would this work??
  23. hey mate i tried to PM ya again but it doesn't seem to show up in sent items...my mailbox seems to be fine...so is it yours!? anyway could ya send the pics to [email protected] also wanted to know if the elbow's still attached to turbo and does it have the bolts (if there are any) and gasket (if there is one). i'll be up in wyong on sunday (is that near ya) so if ya wanna meet up preferably morning MAY be ok i just havta see if i got time. otherwise... PM me your number and we can possibly arrange somethin cheers, jeremy
