  1. Yeah long way but there are a few factors, reputation, quality of work, price, experience with C110's.
  2. Oh, this arrived at my office too... ' It needs to be attached to this...
  3. I made the 1500km round trip from Melbourne to Mt Barker in South Australia over the weekend to drop the car off for body work. ETA on the job is approx 8-12 months but I should get some regular updates which I'll post. There is lots to do whilst I'm waiting, engine assembly, sourcing induction and ECU, gearbox, diff, suspension brakes etc. All of the running gear will need to be blasted and painted and there is lots of work to do on the final parts removed like the heater, aircon, steering column.... Getting a non rolling shell on a trailer is pretty tricky work! We left super early for the 9 hour drive The car looked a little sad sitting there but it's in very good hands I dropped the GTR grill off for reassembly and painting and the GTR rear panel too as it's painted in acrylic at the moment.
  4. Oh, bought some wheels whilst I was in Japan too. Hayashi Racing CR in 8.5x15 -5 for the front and 10x15 -15 for the rear, plenty of dish!
  5. So, I hope you're sitting down for this news... I'm dropping the car off for body work next weekend! It's finally happening. The shell will go on a trailer and I'll do a weekend road trip to SA. There will be lots of progress shots on body work and I'll be busy again with the car.
  6. Update time... The body is now booked in with Custom and Classic Cars for body work but probably wont be started until the end of this year due to the work they have on. I've seen quite a few projects they've worked on including another C110 and 240Z and the craftsmanship is outstanding so I'm confident the car is in good hands. C110 -https://www.facebook.com/pg/CustomAndClassicCars/photos/?tab=album&album_id=522151214472678 240Z - https://www.facebook.com/pg/CustomAndClassicCars/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1328888837132241 I purchased the body kit from Restored which includes the over fenders, rear wing and chin spoiler and a few more missing rubber seals. The other big purchase is the fully built P90 head to match my 3.3ltr short block. Turns out that Locky from LCR is taking a different direction with his 240Z (matching numbers L24) and offered me the head that was built to match. Specs are: New 46mm Stainless Intake Valves. New 35mm Stainless Exhaust Valves. New Valve Guides. Refaced Rockers. High-side Steel Retainers. HSD valve springs. 54.5cc Chambers. Manifold face has been drilled & tapped for an LCR external coolant rail - blanking plates included. Injector notches have been welded up. New Freeze Plug. New Nissan Oil Gallery Plugs. New Nissan Rocker Cover gasket. New Kameari MLS Head Gasket. Near-new Rear Collant outlet Water Jet Blasted Head & Tappet Cover. Ported by Les Collins at LCR Racing, Intake port flow (average): 228cfm @ 28" of H20 on a 90mm bore plate. This head flows enough to make 380hp at the flywheel so it should be a very strong motor for a little C110.
  7. Oh, also started going through my part bins (2008-2016) and cataloguing the parts, I really had no idea where everything was and found some parts I didn't even realise I had!
  8. Picked up the short motor last weekend. I supplied the L24 front sump and oil pickup as the L28 has a rear facing sump and oil pickup so the block needed to be modified to suit. I also had a clutch supplied with the motor as the flywheel face has been designed around the pressure plate and it’s balanced with flywheel. It's a a single plate unit consisting of a 2600lbs AP pressure plate with an Exedy organic race clutch plate, built by Jim Berry in QLD. I've listed my Mikuni 44mm carbs and LD28 crank for sale and once they move I'll send the short motor back with the P90 head to be completed. I spoke with Jenvey about the 48mm heritage bodies and they wont be in production until March so I'll follow up then.
  9. So a pretty major development this week, Lachlan Fowler at Les Collins Racing had a fully built 3.3ltr L series short block for sale which I've purchased. He's decided to go down the full billet crank race spec path meaning the built bottom end is no longer needed. I'll supply my own P90 head to the builder to be ported, polished and rebuilt. The motor should be good for 350hp and 280ft'lbs of torque with the right head, cam and induction. Short motor specs are: L28 3.3ltr short engine. 89mm bore x 89mm stoke = 3322cc Engineered by Les Collins F54 block. Acid dipped, 1/2 grout fill, sonic tested & offset bored to 89mm & finial diamond honed to exact clearance. Deck milled parallel to crank tunnel centreline. Clearanced crankcase, de-burred & painted in Gyptal. New gallery plugs. Blanked oil pressure relief port. Standard sump & pickup (to be replaced with Kameari pickup) Modified 89mm stroke crankshaft, oil gallery plugs tapped & plugged. Custom CNC billet steel 8.8kg flywheel to suit crank (no clutch assy). 137mm I-beam connecting rods with ARP2000 rod bolts. Custom SPS 89mm forged pistons – designed to work with a P90 head. New timing chain guides & new Kameari HD timing chain. New OEM front timing cover (de-burred, polished & water-jet blasted) fitted with replated bolts. New Water pump. At this stage I'm looking towards injection as the 44 Mikuni carbs I have just wont be big enough and would limit the motor to around 280hp. The other option is 47mm OER carbs but Jenvey make a 47mm heritage DCOE twin body with the injectors hidden in the body. Heritage look with modern features. I'll need to look at a fuel tank conversion using EFI hardware's EFI conversion kit and consider an ECU, perhaps Motec M800 or a Haltec equivalent. Not sure who will complete the head work and engine but at this stage I'm looking at either Peter McDonnell or Les Collins Racing, both are true professionals and will do a great job. Here are some shots of the motor before it will be torn down:
  10. Hahaha, might be pushing it! [emoji38]
  11. It's been a pretty crazy few weeks so not a lot happening on the car front, hoping to reassemble and pain the GTR grill this weekend though. I can't for the life of me find the paint sample we made up so I had to get a mate to send me down his colour chips for matching, no paint codes available for this stuff unfortunately. I was going though some boxes from my trip to Japan in Feb this year and found these goodies. Some door handles, a GTR style gear know, NOS badges, water heater seal and stainless trim for the centre console. Also a whole bunch of stickers for the car, it's the little details that make the difference!
  12. Thanks mate! Some goodies we purchased in Japan at Nostelgic 2 Day arrived today (no pun intended), a set of S.E.V Marchal headlights.
  13. I was up in Brisbane over the weekend and attended Cars and Coffee in my mates C110, it definitely turns some heads and draws a crowd where ever it goes.
  14. Nope, all the images went missing so I rewrote the start. It's sitting like this at the moment.
  15. Haha, we're now in real time. [emoji6]
  16. I picked up an R200 with a 4.4 LSD on the weekend, I'll strip this down and rebuild it along with the rest of the rear end in the coming weeks.
  17. Next we moved the caravan from the shed to make more space as it was time to strip the fuel tank, suspension, engine and gearbox. I've only got a few small things to pull of now, mostly brackets, fuel/brake lines and remove some rubber. Next I'll be welding up a dolly to send the shell for repairs and paint whilst I work on everything I've removed.
  18. Needless to say when I came back from Japan I was pretty motivated to get my car on the road. It had now been sitting in the same place, untouched for 2 years and was looking pretty sorry. I gave the shed a good clean out, got the place organised and ready for action. I started by taking more photos of the engine bay noting every detail in an effort not to forget how the car will go back together! On the first day I stripped the engine bay of the cooling system, fuel system and wiring loom then got to work on the rest of the interior including the heater box, wiring loom and steering column.
  19. We of course visited the holy grail of Nissan, it's Zama Operation Facility. This place was insane and it was an absolute buzz to see all of these legendary cars in the flesh.
  20. We called into Rubber Soul to pick up some small parts and see some of the work they were doing on a C10 GTR and also visited Tea Valley who were doing a first class restoration on another C10.
  21. We caught up with another friend who knows Hayashi San, the founder of Hayashi Racing. We were really lucky to be shown around the shop, learn a bit about Hayashi San's racing career and see the Toyota 2000GT being restored with custom Hayashi wheels with centre locks. Unfortunately the foundry wasn't casting that day but it was still a great experience to meet the man behind the wheels my C110 will run.
  22. We called in to Star Road and checked out some of their cars later in Tokyo, they do some great work. They had a C110 which from memory has been sitting there for years!
  23. I took a trip to Japan in February 2016 with my good friend and C110 internet celebrity Scott (pictured below) to visit Nostelgic 2 Days which was brilliant for both inspiration and parts! We were graciously hosted by the guys from Restored who not only have us tickets but also gave us exhibitor passes so we could jump the queue!
  24. Between 2012 and 2014 I had a lot going on in my personal life and my priorities shifted. I'd bought a house, was running my business and didn't have the time or money needed to start body and engine work. During that time my father scored a shed that was being dismantled at a school during some asphalting works. We dismantled the old carport and rebuilt the shed to home the project car and caravan. We moved the car from their garage to the shed where it was to sit dormant for 2 years.
