  1. Randy at the 1600 Factory in Bayswater in Vic does this conversion. He retains the C210 wishbones, welds on a bracket for the R32 calipers, changes the wheel bearings and hubs so they become 5 stud and accept CVs. Sorry that's not really specific - but it is do-able without major headaches.
  2. I'd re-post in the Japan forum. By the way, I'd just about kill to have anything in Kanji printed on a factory part in my engine bay. Even if the direct translation was "like the goat" or something odd like that.
  3. Very nice! I'd love to hear more about the triples and the 3.0 overbore. Was the weber tuning/rebuild expensive? Are they a standard piston from another car, or something special? Does it go like the clappers? Good luck with the body resto. I am hanging out to finish painting mine white/black, but it has rained every weekend in Melbourne for about 3 months! Stupid wintertime.
  4. You can poach the electric distributor out of a 280zx. Also, I hear you can use a 4 cylinder Datsun Bluebird series 2 Bosch distributor, with a Bosch 6 cyl distributor cap (for holden or ford). Don't forget to grab the coil too. cheap and cunning way to go electric. Got a pic of your car?
  5. You're right about the hoses. Im just cross-eyed. The radiator is leaking from the bottom of the radiator itself, not the core, which is a bit odd. I chucked a nasty spare radiator in there for the time being, but will keep an eye out for a better long-term arrangement. My C210's have had a history of sweating a little at 110km/h on hot days.
  6. Thanks - that's interesting to know. My radiator is 68cm wide by 50cm high. The bolt holes are about 66cm by 25 cm. If you are in drivers seat looking towards the front of the car the hoses connect to the top right and bottom left of the radiator. The hoses connect perpendicular to the radiator - they aren't coming off at strange angles or anything. D
  7. My C210 radiator is leaking... so maybe it's time to grab a shiney aluminium one from ebay or what have you. There is plenty of Z and later model nissan stuff coming out of Hong Kong and the states, however nothing specifically for my car. Anyone else know what will bolt straight up besides 240k? I'm thinking likely suspects are R30, 280zx perhaps others. Anyone know for sure? Cheers!
  8. I have got bits from importmonster as well... but don't get excited about the idea of paying $15 for the ECU - by the time you pay postage twice, a 25% commission of the total including postage (at a $25 minimum) and 10% GST on top of all of that it'll hit $100 easily. Still, $100 may still be a good price compared to what you can find locally - just be prepared for the shock when they calculate the total amount!
  9. Actually, I have tried ordering from them again. This time I filled out both my mailing details and the billing details (it says that this isn't necessary if they are identical) and the cart was able to process my order. I'm still dirty on them for not replying to my polite email, but there's no denying they have some great stuff for L series engines.
  10. Hey, These twits stock the pulley, http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/CTGY/PEM06 but good luck with their defective online shopping cart, or getting them to answer emails. I got lucky and found mine on ebay USA for a little less as it turns out Word of warning though - these pulleys do not quite fit onto the key on the end of your crank. You'll need to file a smidge off the sides of the key to get the pulley to slide on without breaking the pulley, the crank, the oil slinger etc.] Cheers, d
  11. The secret of the rocker cover is... er.... ebay usa actually. I polished all the other parts though, like the timing cover and manifold with a wire brush, then sandpaper then autosol. Have turned the key and the car runs a treat. Once it's run in Ill get a pro to look over it to make sure it's correctly timed and that I haven't misseed anything.
  12. That's better! Stupid file names.
  13. It runs... IT RUNS... IT RUNS!!! banzai
  14. Find a 280zx series 2. Drop the entire rear end as one piece- diff cradle, suspension arms, hubs. Grab the disk brakes and Toilko calipers. Poach that 15/16 brake master cylinder. Bolt it up to you C210. No mods, geometry issues or hassles. If you grab the rear brake calipers and disks alone you wont have anything to bolt them to! Toyota Hilux 4 spot calipers bolt up a treat to the front. You can then use a larger ventilated disk from a... anyone? Good luck
  15. I agree. Always on the lookout to buy and sell the early stuff.
  16. I want to change from the grey plastic c211 hotplates to the chrome 210 hotplates. I know the c210 came with a numberplate surround (which I can live without) but does anyone know if the center garnish is interchangeable? The 211 center garnish is 49.5 cm long. Anyone got a c210 garnish they can measure for me? The tail-lights don't look so hot after you've taken a hacksaw to the garnish! Cheers
  17. Nice one - been curious about that for ages! Oddly enough the info will be more exciting for 240k owners though... 240k carpet isn't exactly plush when it's there, and it's often AWOL altogether!
  18. How long ago was that C210 in Talbot? I was there about 3 months ago and there was no sign of it. They did have a handy Gold C210 that was bent around the passanger door like a banana! Anyone from interstate having better luck? Datpares just about laughed at me last time I went round there looking for parts. Too bad that I cant poach anything useful from the R31 series.
  19. Im really struggling to find older cars at the wreckers now. Pick-a-part, Pick-pay-n-go etc used to be a treasure trove of 70's - 80's Datsuns, but they have had bugger all this year. I found a great place in Talbot, in rural Victoria, that has some interesting older stuff. Does anyone else know of wreckers that still have older cars? C210, 240k, z, zx etc... Even half the Z places in the yellow pages are bare of parts!
  20. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/the-only-datsun-200...1QQcmdZViewItem last one... apparently
  21. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/nissan-datsun-240k-...1QQcmdZViewItem I'd like this - but getting it to Vic would suck!
  22. I spend several hours looking for 70's datsun parts per week. Repco/bursons can get very basic stuff (think wheel cylinders, gasket kits etc), and that's about it. Nissan dealers have generally sucked in my experience, they seem to have a deep-seated loathing of anything more than a ten years old. I'd be combing ebay and importmonster, and join a club like the Nissan Datsun Sports Owner's Club. I can get my mitts on some second-hand 240k bits. PM me if you get really stuck, and Ill see what's in the shed for you.
  23. I have just met a guy through the NDSOC club who apparently has a friend building a super-charged L24. The super-charger is from toyota (1ggze) and it is bolted to the air-conditioner mounting plate (the air con compressor has been removed.) Pulleys and belts are holden... Plenty of folks are turboing them, why not supercharge? Mind you, I'm hardly an expert on forced induction.
