  1. NDSOC rather...
  2. Right. Im on the lookout for grandpa's C210 and a couple of project 240K coupes. I have a couple of leads. On the topic, I am happy with the way my white C210 handles, and I'm not afraid to throw it around some. Fingers crossed Ill finally get to do some entry level motorsport with the NSDOC this year.
  3. N1GTR and Das Kamu, just to clarify, what exactly are you looking for - C210, C211, 240K, coupe or sedan, and what kind of condition, grandpa-spec original, rusty project etc? If I am right N1GTR is hoping for a 240k coupe, and Jason would prefer a c210 or c211 of some sort. There are still cars around in Victoria, but it's bordering on pot luck as to what kind of shape its in. I'm happy to keep a look out and ask around if I know what you want.
  4. A 2L GT, a turbo? My friend has a 210 2L turbo coupe and it goes like the clappers! Im in Vic and have some parts in the shed. What are you after?
  5. Holy crap that thing is mint! What a score. Ill post you up a bumper end as soon as I dig one up. $25 posted? As for the wheels - don't know about offset etc, but you can go up to a 205/55/r15 tyre on a 15 inch rim without doing any modifications. All the datsun 4 stud wheels fit - from Z cars all the way to the 15 inch r31s and TRXs. I think there are some early 4 stud toyota wheels that fit too. If you want to sell the factory wheels, plastic louvre or any of the other original bits please let me know. I can always find a home for them. Also your front bumper looks like its sitting to close to the grill. Loosen the 2 monster bolts in the engine bay and slide it forward an inch and it'll look like it just rolled off a production line! Also I'd be filling those glorious doors with fish oil pronto, they are prone to rust!
  6. Ahh yes... the old stuff a dead rat in the centre console trick.
  7. Easiest place to score parts for your engine is from an early 80s r30's. There are still plenty of them around. They run an L24 like yours, but with injection. Be sure to grab the electronic distributor and coil if you find it. Your CD player fits in the glovebox a treat. The inner glovebox comes out (6 screws), and you run the wires through one of factory the holes in the top of it like this...
  8. factory mirrors - $30 posted?
  9. Im afraid of the reserve he has on it.
  10. I hear you mate... Still if you can find a coupe you're doing d@mn well these days!
  11. These 2 are nothing to do with me - although I may be flogging off some cars and parts in the near future. They both look like awesome buys for the money. http://cars2.ebay.com.au/_W0QQcmdZViewItem...emZ260287263568 and http://www.tradingpost.com.au/Automotive/U...ckToResult=true and a friend in Melb picked up this time-warp sedan... hopefully he will neither sell nor molest it! http://www.tradingpost.com.au/Automotive/U...ckToResult=true
  12. For 5K Ill deliver a car to QLD in person and buy you lunch as well!
  13. Sure. They came with a few different types. I'll have a look in the garage and see what I have. Ill post some pics and you can have a look.
  14. Tell me about it. He keeps telling me he knows what the cars are worth! Can't figure out why he hasn't sold an old skyline in the 3 years I've known him then.
  15. Not to sure about the mechanical problem - your clutch fork theory sounds good. Could be a problem in the box itself, too. Your car is the factory green and black (don't know about that pin-stripe though). It has the original radio, cassette, gear knob, steering wheel and alloys... All very hard to find stuff. I would look for another car (r30, 280zx, 240k, 240-280c) with a good engine and box and just swap the whole lot complete. L24 engines are worth almost nothing. If you find an L28 for a good price, all the better for you! Good luck with it - It's an unreal base for a project - and you shouldn't need to throw huge dollars at it either.
  16. Hey Mags; I had a look at that four-door, it's cool, but not my cup of tea. There is a mint condition silver L26 210 in NSW at the moment, without any of the pink bits. I don't like pink. I'd go for that instead. On the topic of overpriced cars there is a wrecker off the Hume Highway near Epping in Melbourne. He has about 6 C210s and C110s stacked on top of each other. All utterly stuffed, windows down, rusting out, ruined. He only wants $50 for a damaged piece of trim, or $2000 for a "complete" car... great.
  17. 16 cars is out of control. There is a guy based in Bendigo who has 7 c110's. Same thing, won't sell for anything, just lets them sit in the rain for year after year... given they are practically rust-proof and all (slaps forehead).
  18. Dont be put off by the auto either. The manual conversion isn't difficult or expensive - there are plenty of cars you can grab a 5 spd box and clutch pedal from.
  19. C110's pop up now and again on ebay, ozdat or the in trading post - but there are plenty of people chasing them. Oddly the coupes fetch higher prices from Australian buyers than the sedans, whereas the sedans are much more popular with overseas buyers. In Kuwait the coupe is unflatteringly referred to as "the cow". I recently bought a lovely four door for $350 by leaving a nicely-worded note on someone's windscreen about 6 months ago. Many people who don't really care for Datsuns sell them for very little, wreckers are likely to crush them as $150 worth of scrap metal without thinking, and then you get complete get-rich-quick tools on ebay asking for $4500 for substandard examples. I'll ask around for you, but happy hunting in the meanwhile - something will come up eventually.
  20. A mint green coupe with a black interior? Very, very nice. I actually bought one from a SAU member in Sydney, then had a small lapse of sanity and passed it on to a mate in Tasmania who is doing an RB25 conversion on it! Should have kept it for a rainy day...
  21. You found a 1978 Datsun Skyline C210 coupe for free! Bloody hell - that's a score - they are getting very hard to find in any shape nowadays. If it still has the original alloy wheels, radio, tape player and is a manual, you are doing extremely well! As for the carby - the single throat carby on your car can be easily unbolted and totally reco'd for little more than pocket change by your local carby place. Popular carby swaps are grabbing the round topped twin carbies + manifold from the 240z (hitachi, daf, or english SU), tripple-webbers if you have some serious cash, or the factory fuel injection system from the later models; C211, or R30 (too complex for me!) Let me know if you need any parts or help with the project. Post a picture if you get a chance too. Cheers
  22. Hi, I have a good mate with a turbo'ed L20 C210, and it goes like the clappers. There was a turbo manifold on ebay this week, and they come up on the US ebay regularly as well. You will probably get the best turbo L28 advice from Ghostrider, he is in the middle of building one now. Good luck with it, and let us know how it works out.
  23. First of all well done on finding a couple of C210's for $500 - that is a bargain! Second, if you get stuck for any parts let me know, I have a shed full. Likewise if you find more cars or parts I'm always on the hunt for my own/mates projects. Finally the stroker engine with the LD28 crank is a very rare beast in Australia. To start you'd probably need an L28 block, and then to source the crank out of the USA. According to an article I just read 9mm 1973 240z rods work well with 89mm pistons. For a budget build up I'd think about boring out your L24 to 2.7L, finding pistons (180b SSS?) to suit, find an E88/N42 head, add another carbie, and bang on some extractors. You'll go like the clappers!
  24. Always a pleasure. Post pics of your work if you get a chance. It'd be great to see an R33 into C210 conversion in stages.
  25. Oh, and suspension upgrages: I run Pedders Red Springs over adjustable Koni shocks with nolythane rubbery bits and the car now handles very well. While physically the same dimensions the C210 springs are designed to take a slightly heavier load than 240k springs (according to Pedders). My mate in Tasmania ordered a complete set of coil-overs to suit a 240z out of the states, but he has yet to install them in his C210. I'll let you know if they bolt up sucessfully.
