Anyone Got Spare R30 Rear Brake Calipers?
coupe72001 replied to coupe72001's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
BUGGER! Someone poached the brakes from the r30 and pick pay and go, and there are none to be had at pick a part Kilsyth. If anyone has some, or spots them at your local please let me know! Especially the rear passanger caliper - it's starting to make horrible noises! Cheers, D -
The actual gear lever sticks from L-series boxes come in a range of shapes. Check that your stick isnt a little straighter than your previous one. I asked Alfadog about this years ago, and from memory the part number for the C210 and 240k boxes was identical, but the Z Boxes were a little different (bronze syncros or something like that).

Anyone Got Spare R30 Rear Brake Calipers?
coupe72001 replied to coupe72001's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
Cheers mate, if you find the one in the garage, or hit pick a part before I do, can you grab the rear passenger side caliper for me? Ill fix you up of course. D -
I know some dodgy bikies who beat and rechrome bumpers fairly cheaply in Melb... the bigger problem you'll find is the rubber strip that runs the length of the bumper is usually rusted solid. Once it's off, it's doesn't go back on again! Repainting in original green and polishing everything is exactly what I'd do with Dan's car if it were mine!

240k bumpers are going to look pretty strange on your c210 Ricky! They are a totally different shape. As for your car Dan, the last sorry looking C210 coupe that came up on ebay went for $500... but that was about two years ago - I can't remember seeing one advertised since. There are so few left now that your much more likely having people compete for yours. It's lucky that your car is totally original - you'll get a much better price for an original car compared to one that's been modified crudely... that being said, the winning bid may well come from and Asian/Arab buyer. C210s go for serious money in Japan and Kuwait.

Try Babel fish to copy-paste a big chunk of text or translate a web page. With the yahoo auctions, you can translate them, but when you do a search it will jump back into Japanese. This means clicking on each catagory you need Cars - Nissan - tail lights etc, so that it stays in english, which is time-consuming and irritating. try searching for "c210" or "c211" etc in the import monster website which is in English, then heading straight to the corresponding yahoo auction to find the matching part. With Both websites you'll get better results searching for numbers like "c210", than for words like "skyline coupe"

2 door vs 4 door 240ks: the shape of the front wheel arches is definitely identical, as the panels are interchangeable. Same goes for the rear wheel arches, however, there isnt a whole heap of clearance between the rear wheel arches and the rear doors for the sedan.

Due to the rarity of this part in Australia $400 doesn't seem unreasonable. You can haunt the yahoo auctions in Japan looking for something cheaper, and then ask around for someone to post them over to you - but it might be a very long wait before some come up. Also check the 240k forum on classiczcars.com, as getting flares and spoilers made seems to be a hot topic over there. Also double checking that 240k and c210 flares are the same sounds like a very good idea. Ill ask around and see if anyone knows.

coupe72001 replied to harvo's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
Got buckets of used master cylinders lying around if you would like one. Whether it leaks is another question... Still I don't mind popping one in the post seeing I've got more than Ill ever need. -
unreal - cheers mate!

Not only does it look great, I can think of a few interested parties who would pay you for your time if you wanted to make a few more.

240k Clutch Master Cylinder<->into C210?
coupe72001 replied to harvo's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
Very. I think they came in a couple of brands Toiko and Nabi... something, but they both should work fine. -
I actually pulled the strut brace out of a wrecked C210 rally car. It looks home-made though. You can buy them new through yahoo auctions Japan/importmonster.com.au.

Changed to an electric fan on a thermo switch and tidied the last few things over the weekend. So that wraps up the engine build... until I have enough money for triples, and a stroker crank. Now... time to paint the body.

My right-hand high beam doesn't work. All the other lights are fine. I tried replacing the light, and the control stalk, but no go. According to the wiring diagram there is a relay in there somewhere... anyone know where to find it/what it looks like? Or what else to check. I suck at wiring, if you didn't already guess.

Thanks! Ill post pics when its all done. Hopefully it'll come up as well as Passing Ewe's coupe!

They took 10 weeks to get here, but they look the part. Now for a respray and bumper rechrome...

Found this one. Wrong country, crazy price. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-skyl...emZ160288768454 Also I forgot. If you want a c210 to handle you'll need a strut brace.

Ive got heaps if you get stuck. Postage will be a bit rough though - they aren't light. Even though the r30 ones are physically smaller they bolt straight on. -
210 Body Restoration Under Way
coupe72001 replied to passin ewe's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
Without cutting anything a 205/55/r15 will go under there with no worries. I remember that V8 skyline man ran 17's on his C210, but I don't know how much work it took to make them fit. -

That, my friend, is the duck's guts! It's finally getting warm enough to spray mine - they'll just about be a matching set! -
The WRX LSD centre was purchased from ebay UK, and it bolted straight into the long-nose r180 diff in my skyline. (It was not the original r180 diff, it's the front r180 from the datsun 720 truck with a 4.75:1 ratio, either way they are the same dimesions and spline count). I had to retain some of the internal bits from my diff, so I could attach my driveshafts - the WRX's have a different axle arrangement. Jack MacNamurra Diffs in Moorabbin Vic did this conversion for about $180, and the LSD centre also cost about $180. If I was going to run a monster engine, I would have to build up an r200 lsd with CV's and convert my hubs to suit them... much pricier than $350 though. Randy at the 1600 Factory in Bayswater would be the man to see about this. The ventilated disk/caliper set up came from a smashed rally car I purchased complete, so I don't know exactly what it is! There isn't a spacer from what I recall though. Some of the kids with 1600's at NDSOC are using C210 struts, with Volvo calipers and a Magna/Verada ventilated disk. Ill try and get more specific information about that. In response to Floody, it's true that I have had a big expensive bastard of a time breaking and rebreaking my white old-school skyline. However, the standard ones have never given me any big headaches, and if I had to start over with a modified one I think I could save myself a huge amount of grief and money now that I have a much better idea of what I am doing, which parts will interchange and who to ask to do certain work etc... It's not like the cars are technically incomprehensible, or were assembled in a communist backwater somewhere.

I'm glad you asked! Koni Red adjustable shocks and Pedders Red springs all round. Run 205/55/r15 rubber. Nolythane bushes. Replace the open-wheel diff-centre with a clutching type from a WRX. Replace the diff cradle and suspension arms with a 280zx rear end with disk brakes. Pop some Hilux 4 spots on the front over ventilated disks. All really straight forward stuff. Some of the guys I know have gone further, and are using 240z coil-overs for the front, and have converted to CV's. I also prefer to remove the power-steering, but each to their own.
