  1. The block is 280zx, with the dipstick holder pressed into the side of the block. The sump is L24 skyline, and the oil pick up is too. The skyline sump also has a dipstick holder, so I will retain that one, and remove the redundant 280zx dipstick holder from the block. I won't be able to work on the car for 5 weeks though. My mate is away, and the car is in pieces at his house. Bummer.
  2. Etch-primed, primed, and sprayed in acrylic. The rest of the car will end up that color in a bit, too.
  3. It's only a mobile phone, and my hands shake from too much coffee!
  4. Just about ready to go now...
  5. Yep. Far as I know.
  6. Your in luck... provided I can just remember to pick the damn thing up! I'm going to write ECU on my forehead with texta before I go over there again. Do you still need those axle bolts too?
  7. Definately can get one, just forgot to pick the damn thing up. Will try to remember this weekend when I visit my mate. Sorry bout that. D
  8. I'm off to Japan - Banzai! I have a wish-list as long as your arm for 70's Skyline, 240k and 240z parts to bring home, and no idea where to start. Anyone know of a wrecker that deals in the old-timers? Cheers, Drew
  9. Should be able to help, let you know tomorrow. Drew
  10. Yeah, not a bad idea to store all your original parts and to try really hard not to cut anything if you can avoid it. This is especially important if you run afoul of the police and they want you to change bits back to stock, or if you want sell the car for better money in the future. Hiding the stero gear/using the original holes is a pretty good idea too. Good luck with it, and remember, vinyl roofs are awesome. Post some pics of your work if you get time.
  11. Thanks so much - they look great.
  12. Finding a mint original C210, even a four door, is next to impossible these days, and as a result the value of them is finally starting to increase. Why you would do a conversion like this is beyond me. V8/turboed cars are almost impossible to sell - international buyers are looking for original cars, and local buyers will struggle to get it registered and roadworthy. As a result you will probably only get back a fraction of your investment. L28 N/A engine upgrades are huge in Japan and the Middle East for this model, but that's about it. Moreover your brakes and drive-train aren't remotely going to cope with the increase in power gained from an RB2_ so there's more headaches to sort out there. Still... if you are really determined to do your conversion get in touch with Brendan, who's attempting to sell this beasty in order to fund his next c210 RB project: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...A:IT&ih=009 he knows what to do. Stovetops are tough to find. Don't forget you'll need the matching centre garnish. Finally, if you want to sell the original wheels/louvre/other parts please PM me or get me on [email protected]. Also, if your planning on putting in a big stereo, let me know before you cut the door trims/center console. I'll do you a swap with a cash difference if you like - my gear is in great shape, but already has holes cut. I'm trying to restore my interior to original. Cheers, Drew
  13. Got all my parts today. Everything arrived in great condition due to being so well packaged. Thanks so much. Drew
  14. My current L26 came with a mystery cam - couldn't find a receipt for it. I'm going to donate it to my friends 240k project. The L28 that I am building now has been set up with a Wade cam grind 733A - cam lift 320. There was buckets of valve clearance with the mystery cam, so I'm hoping not to run into any problems with the Wade number. Maybe I'll retest to be on the safe side. I slept through the end of Blax240's auction and lost the oil pump, so PM's away to Ghostrider.
  15. Ill check the shed today. I didn't realize you had a 240k - despite it clearly saying so on your profile. Drew
  16. Excellent - I'll give it a go then! I finally got the call and the head is ready to pick up - just in time for the long weekend!
  17. That's great to know - and your right, it is blax240. I (will) have the L28ET oil pump, L28 (n42) block, L28 timing gear/cover and an L28 electronic distributor. Will the drive spindle I need have to be for an L28ET or can I get away with the non-turbo L28 drive spindle? Are they different lengths/shapes? I have never seen the L28ET drive spindle so I can't compare the two. Cheers for you help, Drew
  18. Ok, finally have assembled and painted the short block and it all turns over by hand. There is buckets of valve clearance and number 4 bearing cap has been machined to let the crank turn freely. I am just waiting on new shims for the head so the tappet to cam clearances are right. A 280zx turbo oil pump has come up on ebay. Do I want this? Obviously the car won't be turbo, but some other l28 N/A engines I know of are using this pump.
  19. I remember this car from ebay from about a year ago if I'm not mistaken. Why doesn't it run anymore? How long has it been sitting? Do you have any other stock parts besides the wheels?
  20. For the air dam and over-fenders you can google "yahoo auctions japan" and translate this page or hit www.importmonster.com.au and start searching. The purchase price shouldn't be shocking, but the additional expenses are going make you cry though: Japanese postage + international postage + commission +GST for whoever buys your part in Japan then forwards it to you. I bought a $17 piece of JDM trim through import monster, but it cost an extra $80 to get it to Australia!
  21. congrats on getting your old engine back. Cant tell you how much I'd like a set of triples for myself! Ill ask around and see if I can find a home for the 260z engine - you never know...
  22. What parts do you still need? You never know - I might have something in the shed. I don't s'pose you have any of the electric window switches for the C210 - we never got them here. What other parts do you have surplus?
  23. That is just unreal. I am also restoring a c210 (slowly and painfully) and would like to hear about everything that you have done to this car. I am also just about killing myself trying to get my hands on local/JDM and performance parts for the C210, so obviously I'd be really interested to hear about any bits that you are selling.
  24. Im getting around on these from Pedders, and they are great. Front Spring Low 2315R Sports Ryder Coil Spring RH 2315L Sports Ryder Coil Spring LH Rear Spring Low 2110 2110 Sports Ryder Coil Spring The wrecked rally car I bought was on King Springs, but people seem to give them bad reviews. I never drove with the King Springs, so I can't say either way. I don't think the Pedders shocks represent good value though - you can probably buy better for the same money. Also a mate is importing some coil-overs for a 240z from America for his C210, and says that they should bolt up ok... but this is yet to be seen.
