  1. Personally I think your skyline is great! My C210 was $1700 2 years ago with some rego and a victorian roadworthy. It was very neat and tidy, but in color-me-unexcited white paint and worse still, an auto. The 5 speed will add to the value of yours I'd say... purists may disagree, but I don't think the 2.8 will have hurt the value of your car either. Also the motorkana looks very exciting, and when I finish fiddling about setting up my car, I'd be keen to give it a go. Drew
  2. Im finally wrecking my C210 rally car this weekend. All going well I should have a complete 2" exhaust - from extractors to tip, up for grabs. No leaks, nice note too...
  3. At a glance they are similar, but you absolutely need the centre garnish, its a couple of inches narrower.
  4. Alfadog is right. The neck on top of the dome is longer on the 240Z carbs. They are definitely not the flat top 260Z carbs... Triumph maybe?
  5. I was running a set of the 260Z carbs ( I got them free - no surprises) on my C210, and they went like the clappers, until I ran the car low on fuel and fouled them up. A lot of the complaints about these carbies are they are a pig to tune (many carbie places won't even touch them!), and they suffer from vapor lock issues when things get hot. My theory is due to the bigger grill the under-bonnet temperature of the C210 may be lower than that of the 260Z, so this may be less of an issue for you. I don't expect anyone to back me up with this, they are a generally much hated carby, but if you already have them, give them a go. Worst case you'll have wasted a few hours and will have to put the single carb back on... By the way, they do bolt straight up, but from memory you will need to modify your linkage and block off a few loose hoses. Actually, now that I think about it, getting them on and off was a bit of a pain. Finally, if you have the 240Z carbies, then I wouldn't hesitate to get them on there; all the fun, with potentially far less grief.
  6. Art, thanks for the heads up regarding the seats. Im pretty excited about the whole project. Racsov, the suspension work was done by the Nissco 1600 workshop in Bayswater Nth Vic, but the reciept doesn't specify which model the Konis were intended for. Cheers
  7. Hi, I recently picked up a C210 sedan, that was being driven on the street, before being entered in its first rally and subsequently rolled over (some 20 mins later), before being sold to me as a wreck. Legality and performance aside, the car was set up as follows: - Race seats, full cage and harnesses - 200sx (sr20???) 5spd internals housed inside the original gearbox externals - Big brakes - Disks all round. 4 spots and ventilated disks on the front - R180 LSD diff - 15", lightweight, 2-piece rally wheels, fancy off-road tyres. - Koni adjustable shocks, springs and adjustable suspension set-up (camber etc) and the engine... wait for it... the original L24 with flat-top pistons, twin SU's, a cam grind, elect. ignition, head-work and extractors. Clearly the previous owner felt the drivetrain etc. was a bigger priority than a really trick engine. I plan to swap some of the good stuff over to my (fairly stock) C210. The rest goes on ebay... or something. Any advice thrown my way will also be greatly appreciated. Drew
  8. Details are in the post. Drew
  9. Oops... other than Jason's 2 coupes I haven't seen one advertised for... ok, other than Jason's and the completely random unregistered coupe that just sold on ebay for $500 and the... (feeling stupid now). It's still pretty special and don't let anyone tell you different!
  10. Just want to double-check. Thanks.
  11. My extractors wanted to marry neither my twin carb set-up, nor the standard manifold gasket... so I hear your pain mate - and something for L24 Skyline to watch out for when he starts moding his C210. Seriously nice work on the minimal outlay though.
  12. That's really nice. I haven't seen a C210 coupe advertised for over 2 years. It's pretty special. How the hell did you get it that low? You're making my pedders lowered C210 look like a giraffe!
  13. $25 sound reasonable? Its much less than pick-a-part.
  14. Forgot to mention, mine is out of a L24, not an L24E... not sure if this makes a difference. Im in Melbourne by the way.
  15. Hi, I picked up my car and a mountain of parts. I have a complete instrument cluster with a (seemingly!) working speedo, but it is from the model prior to yours, a 1978 C210. All the same gauges, but arranged in different positions. Maybe the speedo can be adapted to your cluster, or maybe my cluster will bolt straight in to your car with minimal fuss. Someone like Jason might know... Cheers, Drew
  16. Picking up a parts car on Saturday, should be able to help you out. Ill let you know. Cheers, Drew
  17. I have no trouble finding 2nd hand sub $200 dollar 240K/C210 gearboxes at the wreckers, ebay, or on Oz Dat... but I have found the problem to be the condition of the box usually lies somewhere between questionable and completely unknown. Rather than hoping for the best, I think I should just wait until I have a lazy $500 - $800 and completely rebuild the one I've got. If I put another 2nd hand box in my car only to find it was stuffed I'd definitely throw a wobbly! However... if anyone on the forum does have a 2nd hand box, and can vouch for its condition, please let me know.
  18. No worries mate... I'll keep looking. Or saving for the rebuild more likely!
  19. Hi Jason, If Mr Mac isn't biting then I would seriously consider buying that gearbox, if you know that it is in good going order. I am assuming it's out of the late V8 C210. The 2nd hand box that recently went into my car is completely stuffed. I'm in Vic, but would be happy to sort out some postage. Cheers, Drew
  20. The plot thickens! The highest bid was $3,500 and he still cancelled the auction at the 11th hour. I would have guessed that he cancelled the auction upon receiving a good cash offer other than that the car has been re-advertised! Hi Lachlan. I have pieced together that the 240K’s are clearly the more desired (and valuable) car, but are still at a loss as to what the main differences between the two cars actually are, other than the body shape. I was previously under the impression that the running gear and other components were quite different, but now the two models seem to be fairly similar cars on many levels... time I start doing my homework! Drew
  21. Its advertised as having a leather interior... Is that a standard option? The buyers guide with this month's Unique Cars predicts that a 'condition 1' 240K coupe is worth $5,000... but the C210 coupe is only worth $3,700, and a lowly sedan like mine a mere $3,000. A bit of a discrepancy. Was wondering why the difference between the 240ks and the C210s, and if the Unique Cars numbers seem reasonable?
  22. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...mMakeTrack=true or search for skyline in the nissan section. Quite a funny ad actually, but the international interest is pretty amazing... does anyone know what shipping to the United Arab Emirates is worth? Here's your chance to find out. Drew
  23. Thanks for the reply... I went 4-wheel-driving on a mate's property in his old-school 70's Nissan Patrol (basically a rolling wreck mind you) and have started to get excited about the idea again... Off-road driving is plenty fun, and the current performance of my Skyline is a little... underwhelming. There has to be a happy solution that doesn't cost a fortune! 2 cars... shared componentry... Ill figure something out eventually!
  24. Lol... yeah, I guess there is a reason that Lada's fail to sell for $500. Anyway, other than toying the idea of stuffing about with Russia's finest 4WD, what I am really trying to figure out is what represents the best value for money when it comes to the L series engines. Is it better to keep and work on my existing L24 set-up, upgrade the head to something different, or do a complete engine swap? Surely there must be a world of difference between a bog stock L24 and an injected, turbo-charged L28... or not?
