I love these systems - they make stealing the car so easy.. Really mate, the best thing you could do with it is to remove it from the vehicle, smash it, burn it and never tell anyone you had one.. Then, put in an alarm system that will take more than 10 seconds to get around.

probably best if you dont put your tongue on it 9v battery style...

So what you mean is that you have a craptacular generic alpine box which isnt made for your car, doesnt take into account the vehicles design, your requirements, the amp your using or anything else. Oh I forgot to mention the problem of not having a spare etc.. Its an easy fix. Throw the box away and build a custom one that is tuned for the car, the sub, the power you have (amp in rms) and your musical tastes. You can also build a box that allows you to have the spare secured in the factory location with relatively easy access to it should you need it. Problem solved.

I have been to easternats, as an exibitor, spectator and entrant. I have been 8 times. Only one year I didnt go for a drive on the track because we were to busy rebuilding a mates car in one of the pit sheds they have. I do agree that the track setup limited the crusing, but honestly, driving flat out in straight line and then seeing a big block car trying to stop at the end of the straight and then corner was just stupid. I should also point out the only year i have taken an import it was damaged, the other years I have taken or been taken as a co-driver entrant has been in v8's.. the bogans like them better. Jon Davison - I dont even know where to start with Jon. Every single dealing I have had with him, he has demostrated his lack of knowledge on his own event, demostrated his vague thought process and demonstrated his lack of general knowledge on performance cars and the australian automotive industry as a whole. I should also say I have had dealings with him on a corporate level as well as an entrants level. Either way he failed and I wasnt impressed. I have even seen staff at the event under him correct him that he is wrong and refer him to the rules and conditions of entry for his own event. At least other promotors know their own rules and conditions. He has not been rude, arogant or had the ego that some of the other promotors of these events have. But honestly, I have likened his IQ to that of a wooden box full of hammers. I will say also that I am fairly anti easternats/summernats etc atm. I have lost interest in big block methonal injected cars with shotgun blowers doing burnouts. They hold no interest for me. I would rather take my R33 and throw it on the track against other street cars and see what has the best overall performance rather that please a blue singlet, VB drinking bogan by blowing out a set of 165's on stock rims under a set of tubbed rear arches... But that's just my 2c.

Nismoid.. I am very confident that Vicpol STTU (state traffic tasking unit), Fawkner TMU and Keilor TMU under the direction of their RTI (Regional Traffic Inspector) will have extra funding from TAC to pay for extra overtime hours, cars, backup personal and other resources to make sure this event is not friendly at all for the entrants or spectators. And, if this event is anything like the one held at Sandown it will be just V8 boguns who think cruising is going fast down the straight then doing 5kmh around the rest of the track. That is of course unless calder management cancel the event or ask Jon " i am a moron" davison for more money 3 days prior to the event in cash - as has happened with other organised events at calder..

the best thing about a kill switch is that while the car thief is searching for it in the car it gives him time to think of how he's going to trash the car. kill switches offer no protection, arent insurance approved and usually take less than a minute to find in any car. it is without a doubt one of the most pointless things you can do.

Who Regulates The Car Audio Industry?
frx026 replied to getyayayaout's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
The car audio industry has never been regulated. It is splintered. There has always been different factions here in Australia. Mainly led by small groups that have no reall input of staying power. Groups like Car Audio Australia, Iasca Aust, Car sound Masters, car sound challenge, aust audio buying group, etc etc have sprung up and due to no-one really wanting to invest in them or competitors not wanting to work together they fail or disapeer after a while. Db drag racing will most likely be the next group to fall now that the autosalon events are gone and do not provide a stage for new people to see how it works. With no-one investing in marketting and promotion how can they attract new people to a dying event? The Tafe course while attempting to formalise some of the knowledge with regards to instalations is a joke. It is not worth doing and provides a person with no real world skills that are suitable to an employer. I would never employ a person that has only completed the tafe course. Car Audio Masters is just a bunch of stores started by tonkins in adelaide and freeway in melbourne. Between Bruce and Michael who formed it they try to be different however it is really just a buying group that gives them some sort of group buying power with some of the larger suppliers so that they compete against some of the major retail chains. It has no real benefit and anyone with a shop front can buy their way into this group, throw up the cams logo and claim to be accredited. It should be stated that the most buying power they have is on surplus or discontinued product. Major chains, we all know them, jb, strathfield, autobarn have over the years all taken their own directions as competitors in the market place and as such are unwilling to form any group with ties to the opposition. They are increasingly facing more and more market pressure from ebay, repco, supercheap and some of the smaller chains (5-6stores) which means that none of the major retailers will get behind any sort of regulation. From my experience. Which so far has only been 16 years in car audio and involved working for retailers, wholesalers in various positions from the basic installer to national sales manager after i finished some business courses. I have worked as a judge at various audio events etc, etc.. Anyway.. the audio industry as people call it is full of people with no real qualifications, false qualifications, back yard mechanics and former employees of stores that think they know it all. For example.. How many times have you seen a mobile installer appear out of nowhere? His/hers only qualification is that they worked down the road at the local audio shop before leaving.. Ever wondered why they leave? Most of the time good installers dont just leave, their bosses know they are good and will try to keep them. Its the bad ones that get asked to leave. Now there are exceptions, some people are good at what they do. But those individuals are in oppostion to each other which once again goes against the whole thing of coming together and regulating the industry. Its a pity in this respect we cant be more like america where they have proper qualifications, differing levels of qualifications and the manufacturers of the product have meaningful training rather than just a product launch night with a few free beers. Anyone who as actully been to a product launch night will understand what I mean by that. So, as you can see it splintered. Its all over the place. And as sales of aftermarket audio products in australia continue to drop across all segments it is dying. -
have you checked the fuses in the engine bay? in the cabin? and for two door r33's there are also fuses in the boot.

Looking For Good Cheap Reliable Mechanic
frx026 replied to ryan101's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
remember this equation... good + cheap = not fast fast + cheap = not goot good + fast = not cheap.. Take your car to Creatd in Campbelfield - Easily one of the best mechanics/tuners - 03 9357 7663 -
There is a thread on boostcruising that lists the same mobile number. Perhaps try the boondal police as listed in that thread.. http://boostcruising.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=480974

and we wonder why people with imports get hasselled by the cops when their "not doing anything"...
-
have you thought about going to the media? Seeing as a gun was involved it would help to get attention to this and possibly catch the offenders and recover whatever is left of the car. If you did get some media attention it may make the cops get off their lazy asses and actually go look for the offender rather than just taking a report and not acting on it. my 2c.

The old fusion gear was quite good - the new fusion gear is cheap green garbage.

How Many Kws @ Wheels Will I Make On Stock Set Up
frx026 replied to manuel's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I am not sure on your trust smic but i can tell ya with my ARC R34 smic and some other mods on a stock turbo R33 I make a 211rwkw @ 10psi. Dyno was done at Creatd in Melbourne on BP 98 pump fuel. Car has run 13.3 @ 109mph at heathcote test n tune with current setup on street tyres but it is more set up for circuit/hill climb use. Other mods - 3 inch bell mouth front/dump - apexi hi flo cat - hks silent hi power cat back - hks spark plugs - hdi dual ebc - apexi safcII - hks panel filter - custom intake pipe - 040 fuel pump - orc clutch + light flywheel. I like the idea of stealth so everything i did is hidden - black piping in the engine bay - concealed ebc and safcII in cabin. I got a mate who is a TMU cop to have a look over it and he had trouble finding anything I had done. -
The R34 smic is a great little upgrade for a r32 or r33. If you can, see if you can find a ARC R34 smic. They are a little larger again but will fit in without cutting etc. I have one in my R33 and its been a good power up. If your gonna run splits in all for corners dont install the tweeters in the rear. This is what I used to do when I worked in Car Audio. All our company demo cars were set up like this. Or we would just chop the tweeters out of a set of two ways for a laugh. Either way you dont want a lot of treble from the back, just mids, then dump in a sub to complete the set up. Next as far as mods that are good bang for buck, go for a full exhaust (turbo back), boost controller and a little piggy back computer like a SAFC or somethind and a fuel pump. Basic mods, but they will make a noticable difference to your car.

it is irrelevant if your lawyer has mechanicial knowledge or not. In court a lawyer is not classed as an expert witness when it comes to mechanical. You will need to get your lawyer to get you an expert witness. The courts have specific guidelines that must be met in order to classify someone as an expert witness. So forget using the ordinary mechanic. The expert witness can speak in depth about matters in which they are profficient. In this case mechanical. Usually you pay the costs of the witness as well as your legal costs, unless you win, then you can have the courts award costs to you. Although they may not award the actual cost, just the court perceived cost. If your lawyer has no idea how to do this or doesnt know about it, go and get a better lawyer and tell them to go back to school.

demerit points are transferred between states. Unfortunately I have a driving record to prove it. but, for those that want the low down. heres the link to qld transport.. http://www.transport.qld.gov.au/Home/Licen...demerit_points/ Licence demerit points If you commit a demerit points offence anywhere in Australia, the demerit points allocated for the offence may be recorded on your traffic history. Your traffic history is a record of all of your road rules related offences, as well as any drink-driving, drug-driving, dangerous driving or vehicle registration offences which you have committed in Australia. The demerit points set for the offence are taken to have been allocated on the day that you committed the offence, as soon as you have either: paid the fine set for the offence or been dealt with by a court for the offence.

Vicpol have a TMU and a RTTU - both are tasked to reduce road trauma by targetting unsafe driving practices including speeding, drink driving etc.. These units are equipped with late model cars, Lancers, Golf's, Terrotories, SS utes and wagons. As far as I have been able to find out they are not currently using older cars for general or traffic use. Remember if you do get pulled over by someone claiming to be a police officer, they must be able to show a badge. provide a badge number and station they are based at. If you suspect you have been pulled over by someone that is not a police officer call 000.

if the fine he received has points attached to it, the points will be transferred from vic to qld. the defect however is invalid once your over the border.

I got a HKS silent Hi-power on my 33... it is awesome.. very quiet while crusing, but a nice roar when under throttle or at the track.

Make Your Skyline More Resistant To Thieves....
frx026 replied to smok74's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
you can do that - or you can make it so that when the car is turned off the switch is an instant trigger for your alarm and does not unlock the door and while the the car is running it works as normal...(or locks both doors) -
its no great surprise. the V8 meat heads that went to the event wrecked it for themselves. remember meatheads only have very small brains - they can only drive fast in a straight line... pit straight or princess hwy its all the same to them.. and the crowd didnt help... ripping it up in the carpark after their hero's used a 670 big block on methanol to smoke up a set of 165's on 14" rims... and it will be those fully hektik meatheads that return to the princess highway and help along the government stats by donating their cars and cash under the hoon legislation.. either way the residents will whinge, complain and be totally superior to everyone who would like to use a fantastic facility at sandown..

So, your original question was Fusion or Pioneer. Well, I have been involved with both companies at different levels over the last few years. Fusion - Powerplant - all made in china - varying degrees of quality control depending who is running the production line - poor aftersales support - new powerplant does not come close to old powerplant in performance. Pioneer - make good headunits - make ok entry level equipment - but please dont build an entire system from it - its not that nice.. In the show/demo cars i have built I use a simple rule - JAP brand headunit - Pioneer/Kenwood etc.. AMERICAN Brand Amps, Subs, Speakers - MTX, KICKER The JAPS are great at making head units with lots of gizmos, buttons, lights and sound processors, but their amps generally lack power, their speakers lack tone and their subs lack bass. The AMERICANS on the other hand arent that bright and are used to big things, big hats, guns and cars. So, they make amp, subs, speakers with big power. And generally the better american brands actually sound ok to. SO, you get your jap gizmo to drive american power. Or at least that's what i have done for 12 years and never gone wrong. With your car - Forget 6x9's in the back. Not only will you cut alot of metal out that you might need one day, but once you put in some subs you simply wont hear them. If your passengers ever whinge, just slow down to 60 and throw them out of the car. The guys here are correct - spend your money on a good set of front splits. Make sure that whatever sort you buy you have an amp that has more power than it needs to run them. SO, if you buy speakers that are 50WRMS, get an amp that pushes 75WRMS per channel. That way your amp is not running at max gain all the time and you will avoid harmonic distortion and heat distortion thru your amp. Same rule for Subs. As for 5 channels. The last car I worked on with 5 channel amps had two of them in it. Yep. 10 channels in total. One sub each, then a combination of front, internal rear and boot rear speakrs of the other channels. If you load a 5 channel amp up it will run very hot. We ended up having to put cooling fans under the amps to keep them from shutting down. The best way with amps is to get one amp for front and rears, and another for subs. Two power supplies that run independant. You wont notice thermal distortion as much and if using the right guage cables they shouldnt shut down on you. my 2c.

Dragtag stopped being open to the public because they are concentrating on getting there TAG driving systems ready for export, primarily to Dubai, but other markets are on the horizon. It was nothing to do with the cops as the owners of dragtag had the support of the local epping rttu and fawkner tmu. Or at least that is what Neville the owner of dragtag told me last time we talked.

geelong car sound closed cos Harry the owner died of cancer. The new guy that has bought the business name is called craig, he is a human dildo. The box they had in stock was from innovation audio in qld. good boxes - but well overpriced and innovation audio may take months to bother processing an order and building boxes.
