thanks everyone for your input so far i agree with you guys in that fact that if te engine was to come out, it would recieve more than a sump, which =BIG$ what sort of oil pressure guage's have recording features on them, beer baron?

does anyone know where to find the appropriate noise legislation for passenger vehicles, i spoke to a copper and he said to look for them at te EPA, but i tried and could find anything usefull i'm after what the law says and how to test it all i've got so far is that it has to be under 95dB(A) cheers

^^^^^i'm not that serious....... yet^^^^^ i've heard over overfilling (its one litre above the MAX level right?) i think overfilling will be the solution for now

very true^^ with the gtr the engine has to come out to do the sump, probably worth doin a N1 oil+water pump at the same time yeah? or the alternative is to get a dedicated track car and work that, to save the wear and tear on my streeter

hey i'm planning on doin some track days soon at QR, and my mechanic said that i should consider puting a baffle in. he said its borderline requirement for street tires/brakes, but better safe then sorry i haven't come across this before, and considering its a fairly big job puting one in i'd like to hear some opinions.

cheers fellas, cj motors is the ebay price i listed above ($3900) i think thats a bit hexy, and they don't have actuators anymore r31nismoid, i agree, they're not bolt on if they need to be drilled out!!

i'm looking for some turbos for my GTR but cant seem to find anyone who offers what i'm after i'd prefer to get the HKS GT2530's but everyone who has them seems to buy them from yahoo japan, then ship them. ebay wants $3900 +actuators nengun wants $3225 +actuators+shipping rhdjapan wants $3200 +actuators slidewize imports wants $2420 (used 8000kms???) +actuators the next choice would be to get the Garrett GT2860-5's which usually retail around $1400 each while the cheapest supplier seems to super cheap auto at around $2300/pair (after staff discount) +actuators however these are not exactly bolt on, they require minor modifcation to the oil system also super cheap auto order through 'rocket industries' who i've emailed, and i cant tell if they get the get the turbine housing that fits nissans or not Also how come noone includes actuators anymore???? they are around $250 extra the main reason i'm asking this is 1. i have heard bad things about nengun 2. i want to make sure that if i pay over $3K to a company, they will be in business long enough to deliver the goods 3. i'd much prefer new turbos maybe i'm just being paranoid but its alot of money. But where does everyone buy their 2530's cheers Trent

i would make the rods/pistons for a less expensive engine as practice. or less vital parts first -
all fixed now spark plugs were wet did a comp test while i was there and got 155,150,169,167,160,155 does that seem unusual to anyone else

hey everyone yesterday i degreased my engine cos it was filty from puting a oil cooler in. anyway it now as a missfire whenever the boost builds above 8 or 10 psi. i think it must be wen i was rinsing it off some water got onto the coils/injectors/something electrical i removed te afm's before i started has anyone got any input? my guess is coils, but i'd like a second opinion cos i don't have the budget to replace anything thats not wrong cheers fellas BTW the mods that might effect this is a APFC, 550cc inj, and boost

I agree with GTR1993, how there would be a large air pocket in the cooler unless the return line is at the top, so it air bleeds itself as oil flows thru it. I'm trying to put one of these in my 32gtr, but i haven't seen a way to deal with the air after it leaves the cooler. all these pics show good air flow to the cooler, but there is no way for the air to leave.

Which Garrett Turbos Should I Get?

i'm looking at getting the GT2860-5's myself. who stocks them for $2500? i was planning to get them thru super cheap auto, staff discount brings them down to around $1100 ea. however the garrett website says that the 2860-5 comes with the 'compact 5 bolt' turbine outlet (which won't fit standard dumps) , but the 'turbine housing option' is needed to keep your dump pipes. I'm not sure which SCA stocks hope it helps -

for sale is the suspension off a R32 GTR. some people say they will fit in a GTS-4, and some people say they won't the car it came off is a '94 model with approx 120,000 kms the reason they came out is because i put coilovers in it. as shown in the pics, the dust covers of the rear shocks are a little worn. no visible leaks and drove fine without noise/knocking. more than welcome to get an expert opinion on them. there isn't many of these for sale so i'm only guessing what there worth Price is $400 or reasonable offer PRICE CHANGE: NOW $300 OR REASONABLE OFFER willing to post at buyers expense (Approx $15 for bris, $40 for syd, $50 for mel, $100 for perth) cheers Trent 0414863386

another point is that you won't be able to get anything for your car. who wants to buy a car that can be impounded/confiscated??? if you keep your car sane (eg. not 5mm off the ground, 20in wheels, and 120dB exhaust) we should be fine.

sorry, i tested the wrong thing, Step 2 there was not contiuity, that means the harness has problems. i got under the car and cleaned the conecters just above the rear diff and the problem is still there. has anyone got any suggestions??? -
yeah a turbo busa would by nice... the engine is actully in a open wheel cart and the rules say it can only have the one throttle body, which has to be infront of the restrictor its just you can only suck 73kw of air through a 20mm hole. (the engine is about 60ish at the moment) oh and its got a motec in it.

hey fellas. first of all, i'm doing a uni project where we're looking at puting a turbo on a yamaha r6 engine. problem is we have to run a 20mm restrictor on the intake. the restrictor limits the air flow to around 97hp or 73kW. the engine on its own is able to make that power close to red line (13800ish), but we're looking at trying to get the mid range (8800ish) torque/power up close to this level. i've estimated that the required boost will need to be about 5-8psi for mid range, and close to zero for top end. the intake pressure is about -7psi between the restrictor and where the turbo would go. is it safe/smart/worth doing to put a turbo on it. any comments welcome cheers, trent

hey, the attessa in my car is playing up. the 4WD light comes on SOMETIMES when i start the car. (it SEEMS that when the car is warm, it operates properly more often). the control unit blinked 18 times, so i went to the service manual (page CH-72)and tryed to do the diagnostics test on it. step 1 there was continuity step 2 there was continuity so apparrently my hydraulic unit is kaput. has anyone had any dramas with these things before.
