Car Goes Left And Right
THENIG replied to USU_R33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
In my experience its because i have put rims on that have too big an offset (+30 in my case)which changes the roll centre of your car, basically when u hit a bump, instead of the tyre moving straight up and down over the bump , the wheel will roll around the bump, tugging on the steering in the process. Maybe getting a bit of extra toe in when u get a wheel alignment will help the car track straight and turn into corners a bit better. May have adverse effect on tyre wear though. -
Brake Creaking Kinda Sound
THENIG replied to mystery_kid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I have the same sound and i have fitted a brake master cylinder stopper to my R32. It didn't go away. If you find out let me know. Do you have ABS? Is it leaking? -
Will These Mags Fit My R32 Gtst?
THENIG replied to Flux_nz's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I have R33 GTR wheels on an R32 gtst with 245/45 rubber, standard-ish ride height with stiffer shocks & springs, i had to get rears rolled (not lipped) and have had no scrubbing what so ever. Front is a different story..... 245's on the front, standard guards untouched, only when i hit a big dip or bump does it slightly scuff something on the tyre, it hasn't chopped sidewalls (I cannot see any damage what so ever to the tyre's), i use to have a pair of tyre's on the front with worn shoulders and it never scrubbed once over anything. Tyre's rubbing shouldn't be your main concern, just slap 235's maximum on them and you should be fine with standard-ish ride height. (My 245's stick out front the guards at the front and would probably be deemed unroadworthy, next set of tyres are going to be 235's) I would worry about the +30 offset rims effecting your roll centre and what it does to your steering & suspension. +30 changes your roll centre and steering becomes more 'darty' over ruts and divets on the road. (each front wheel wants to roll around bumps instead of travelling up and down over them). This means constant corrections have to be made to keep it going straight. 12 months have past with the wheels on and i have had to replace steering rack bushes from all the extra movement in the rack. Other bushes at the front have probably been prematurely worn because of the wheels. They look fat and grip great on the twisties and track but are very compromised on the road. More solid steering rack bushes at the front have helped quite a bit but I wouldn't recommend +30 offset on a car that has to be driven daily in the city unless you like the steering wheel jumping out of your hands. Just my 2 cents -

Nah the cage isn't bent, the bars are made like that on both sides so that they are below the level of the seats (so your hip doesn't rub against them) across the drivers & passengers doors & don't obstruct you getting in and out of the car, I may have pictures fitted somewhere if you are interested, PM me your postcode so i can quote you for freight. Thanks

Top End Boost Drop On Gt2530 Equipped Rb20
THENIG replied to femno's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah thanks Matt I have read the whole thread, i had no grand illusions that the 2530 would flow any better with an extra 500cc of capacity, I am simply contributing my experience with that turbo, and its with its ability to hold boost at the top end. I think my boost drop is excessive and NOT normal and if there is any post to to put it out there for other people's advice I thought this would be it, sorry not trying to hijack thread.
