R32 Gtr N1 Front Bar
THENIG replied to R32Abuser's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Is it fibeglass or plastic?? -
Make sure they don't get minced by the radiator fan blades, some peoples intercooler setups that pipe is pretty close. I have had to help a mate dremel the corners of his fan blades off to clear the intercooler piping before, i have read something on autospeed about putting rubber over mits over intercooler piping too. That wouldn't be as cost effective as your stubbie cooler cooler.

They are a very capable and underated workshop that can do almost anything to all types of cars (not just inports), if i were you i would have no second thoughts about taking my car there for either body or mechanical work.

Yeah i would def be taking some curtains, or at least remember to not accidently knock against touch sensitive bedside lamps if you thinking about getting into anything kinky.

Edit* For Sale: 32 4door Sedan
THENIG replied to bluer_32's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
Hey ring him, he doesn't check forums too much, its still for sale. I just helped him relist it the other day. Im pretty sure he has a few different sets of various nissan wheels. Those wheels might be for sale seperately for not much more. Cheers -
Prefer Melbourne, but will pay for interstate transport. Don't really car if they are perfect with tyres and centrecaps, powdercoated, chipped or scratched. The condition of the wheels will depend on what they are worth. I have been looking on Yahoo auctions and if i can be bothered waiting i can find a set for as cheap as $880 delivered, maybe even better. I dont want to wait 4 weeks so i am willing to pay more for a det already here. i am offering $900 to $1200 depending on condition. I don't expect a $1200 set will be perfect, but i would think that they would atleast have all the centrecaps or decent tyres. PM me your details Cheers Rob

For those who have asked here is how it turned out. here is a rough diagram of what it was originally supposed to turn out like. (yes i was bored) I ended up using alot less piping then i thought i would need. And this is what it looks like after being on the car for 16months Here is how its mounted I think the total parts list was: 6 x 3" Silicone joiners 2 x 2.5" Silicone joiners 4 x 90deg. 3" pipes 1 x 45deg. 3" pipe Straight section was an offcut from one of the others. 16 x clamps. 1 x XR6 core and some zinc coated brackets that could easily fabricated. The plate with the stud through it underneath the rio was needed so the fake GTR front bar doesn't foul on bolt heads sticking out when it was put back on because it was such a tight fit around the rio. Its has never blown a pipe off even though i havn't flared the cut ends ends, i tried to leave the original bead on pipes that were more likely to pop off. I have only recently come across a 3" pipe flare tool and will probably have a crack at flaring the cut ends when the new turbo goes on.

Seen G25's at centrecom nunawading (victoria) for very cheap (maybe $245), or try ebay. It's straight PnP for PC, good luck trying to get it to work for X-box.

Don't use www.iselect.com.au if you are looking for singles cover, use the government website, iselect comes across as being unbiased but in fact the website is owned by like 5 of the big private health insurers, so you will conveniently always get direct into one of their products, which isn't always the best value for money. If you want minimum so you don't get charged the medicare levy thing try Cessnock private health, it doesn't matter if they aren't in your state and you don't deal with them face to face, they direct deposit your returns or send you a cheque. Around $50 after rebate gets you ambulance and lots of other things that you don't get with the other big ones. compare them on the government website you will see that i mean. click here

Don't listen to what they are all saying, i have put this setup on my 32, it cost me less than $300 and a Saturdays work. I ordered the exact amount of piping, silicone joiners and hose clamps and designed it myself. I will send you pics and a rough diagram if you want. As far as performance goes don't be fooled, this is a very efficient intercooler, it has lots of good points. The only permanent modification i hade to make was to drill two holes in my rio. If you don't have one still fitted then you will have to get a bit more creative with your mounting brackets, maybe go off the chassis rails. People who say your not supposed to drill holes in your rio i tell i would prefer to replace my rio if an impact is big enough to move my intercooler than try and straighten any other bit of metal in that area. Advantages: Tube and fin design, will draw more heat out of the inlet charge than equivalent size bar & plate. Only drawback is greater pressure drop through it compared to bar & plate. This may be negated by having shorter inlet tract. Stealth, not only does the black paint work in your favour for heat soak, it can be easily overlooked and you wont have a long shiny f*ck-off pipe sitting in your engine bay. You won't have a massive intercooler blocking air-flow into your radiator as much. I think i measured an extra 70cm of piping over standard SMIC, i don't know how this compares to the length of 'over the radiator' style FMIC piping. On a day just recently when my thermometer on the HVAC was reading 40+deg. C the top pipe coming out of the intercooler was ambient. I tried measuring inlet temps once with a thermocouple when i installed it over a year ago but i think my method and equipment were wrong to get any comparative results. Either way detonation has been held off running 12psi boost through the standard turbo it pulled 162rwkW on the weekend, with factory (unchipped) computer. Other mods include split dump and catco cat, also pod filter sucking hot air from the engine bay and very quiet cat back exhaust. I might be shooting myself in the foot when i find out this intercooler is too small after the 2530 is fitted in the next fortnight running much higher boost, but i will still be keeping it and pursuing other methods to reduce inlet charge temps. Someone please tell me if i am overlooking something in the following statements, because i know if i preach too much without doing my research somebody will put me in my place on these forums. "it is a well known fact that an XR6 can be modified to put out around 300rwkW still using the factory intercooler, in fact it usually isn't necessary/recommended to upgrade it until 'stage 3 kit' that some performance workshops are selling. " I do know that the specs/efficiency of the XR6 garrett turbo fitted to the XR6 may complicate it more than just saying "if it can flow enough air to make 250+rwkW, then why couldn't it do that on a skyline." I can send you pics of the brackets I used off the shelf from work. If you plan to go down this path then let me know. Enough crapping on by me, if i get a chance to pull off my bar on the weekend i will send you some picks and you can make up your own mind. Cheers Rob fire away

Hey i went into autobarn in a victorian store the other day asking for these, do you have a part number or specific autobarn that you can buy these from because the bloke i spoke to didn't now anything about them and neither did any of the other guys. Also they had never heard of them at the repco i went to either. Do you know when/if they are planning to release them at all stores? I'm expecting it to be up to the idividual stores if thet choose to carry this line of filters. Cheers Rob

C33 Nissan Laurel Turbo - 12 Months Rego.
THENIG replied to CEE33T's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
Still hasn't sold yet? would have thought somebody would snap this up for sure?? Really nice car, lovin that interior. -
HAve you tried these people? Dancore I cant find the receipt but im pretty sure they sold this to me about 12 months ago, you will be hard pressed to find anything better, closer to you, direct to public. It was expensive though, i think i payed $100 for a square metre of the 11m aperture 1.5mm wire thickness mesh that was galvanised. There is a shiny stainless steel version that was about $190 for the same thing but is much harder to work with and cut. they had a small display to give you an idea but is seems they are used to people who know exactly what they want or are from the industry so don't be a hoodrat when you walk in. Maybe print off their catalogue page and highlight a few, creditcard only or business account, you order, you pay, you wait. They roll it up in one loop and put a piece of string around it for you and then its up to you. 1sq. metre is the minimum and they are used to selling lots more than that in one transaction so don't expect the greatest service. Things may have changed but these are my recommendations. P.s, The gal. steel version still looks good but is no londer as shiny as it was new, if you are going to spray it do it brand new because the shine will dull and it will be harder to do down the line or opt for the 'pimpin' stainless version. PM me if you want photos of how it looks.

Hks Gt2530 Dump Pipe Recommendations?
THENIG replied to THENIG's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
It has been decided, i am keeping the hks dump and buying a bottom pipe from pacemaker and getting it HPC coated. Thanks for all the feedback, if anybody is interested in the JJR pipe which is less than 6 months old and thermal wrapped with $140 worth of quality fibreglass wrap then PM me, i will be taking offers. Otherwise i keep an eye out on the forums in a couple of weeks when it comes off the car so i can take some pictures of it. I forgot to say the firbreglass wrap has been sealed with the recommended high temp paint so it wont oxidise and fall apart. -
Building New Pc - 1 Question - Help Please!
THENIG replied to Owgasm's topic in PC & Games Discussion
Go get the feb(latest) issue of PC users magazine, it will answer all your questions for $8. I wish it was out before i built my comp a few months ago. it will basically tell you that you have to match your RAM speed to your FSB otherwise your just throwing money away buying faster RAM than your FSB can handle, basically if they are not matched one will always be waiting for the other to catch up. It will tell you to go and buy the cheapest CPU out of the respected intel family and overclock it, it will tell you to NOT use vista when trying to play crysis because it will run like poo, On the cover CD there is a patch to give you all the vista options whilst running it on XP and run heaps faster, It will tell you that more than 2gig is just a wank unless you have vista and like having 200 tabs of SAU forums open at once, (or a 64bit OS), or maybe some profesh photoshop/video editing/ CAD applications. it will tell you quad processing is a bit of a wank, esp for games, most apps don't utilise it, maybe some encoding but thats about it, you are better off using a dual core with a faster clock speed. It will tell you that the current direct X10 video cards aren't doing there job (and compare the best value ones). It has heaps of motherboard and CPU comparisons. And no i dont work for the magazine, i was jsut reading it last nite and found the info really relevant to what is being discussed on this page. Also disproves all the bullsh#t i was fed at computer stores by misinformed staff when i was building my system a few months ago. -
Really??? I thought they used the non projector headlight because the projector assembly was heavier in the normal GTR lights than the standard assembly in the normal lights.
-
Apparently there are the clips to hold the GTR grille on with that the GTST lights dont have. Also it has been said that the glass is thinner to make them lighter and the reflection pattern on the inside of the glass is slightly different. I have never seen a pair in person so i cant confirm this, if you want the N1 spec look then simple little brackets can be made to make a gtr grille bolt up without using the clips on the gtr headlights. Also the non projector headlights were fitted to turbo versions of the sedan (like mine), the inner light is a fog light operated by a button on the dash to the right of the steering wheel, if you have projector headlights than this button would operate your factory fog lights fitted into the mspec front bar. Be very weary of anyone trying to flog you 'genuine' N1 GTR headlights on ebay if they dont have detailed photos of the clips and can tell you the weight. Go tot eh wreckers and but a set of non projector headlights and make up a bracket for the GTR grille. There are more threads on this topic if you do a search.
