  1. for the distance you were pushed the car looks to be in pretty good shape. but it doesn't take much to write off a car nowdays. but the time you have to replace lights, panels, paint, it all adds up pretty quick.
  2. probably not. he may be a mate, but he charges stupidly. he charged 1 guy more to do a 3 door echo than to do another mates HSV GTS. and the guy with the echo was supposed to be one of his closest friends, and his mechanic as well, so he got lots of mates rates work done. but give him a call and see what sort of money he wants to do it. tell him young marc sent you (there's 2 marks he knows). his name is dean 0421543308
  3. i used to do that to people just to piss them off.
  4. and said sommodore is more likely to have 5 people in the car, and end up around a power pole/tree.
  5. the other thing is that there is a huge difference between a stock car and one that has a bit of work done. its not that much of a huge achievement to beat a car that is stock if you have spent 5k doing up your car. then you also have to take into account how good of a driver the other person is, how good the tyres are on both your car and their car, and strong the motor is (it might only have good compression in 1 or 2 cylinders and be about to croak, or the turbo may be dead), etc, etc, etc. if you know the car, and the driver and then beat them you can brag.
  6. make sure it is a place that does the rear window as 1 piece, instead of as 2 or 3 pieces. my mate owns an ultratint (but its in gympie) and he does all rear windows as 1 piece. that way you don't have the tint bubble along the centre join after a few years.
  7. its because people think that the GTRs are super quick because they can beat a supra off the line because off the 4WD. we need more rolling start races to see that once you take the massive traction advantage out off the equation that GTRs aren't that much faster.
  8. some people are able to outlay 10K and not have a car on the road for 12 months. i on the other hand could not.
  9. that last one has cash on delivery as a payment option, so if you did win it you could just turn up with the money and if it was false you haven't lost a cent.
  10. what i find funny is that so many people are comparing a car that sells for over 20k-25k after 15 years with a car that cost that brand new. try taking into account the cost of buying the car, doing it up and how fast it goes then. i know a guy that had a dirty old exa that ran low 13's and the car cost him about 10k all up. that was on stock internals, stock ecu. another of my mates had a GH sigma that had a stock sr20 in it with just a front mount, exhaust and more boost that ran a 12.56 at the 2005 jamboree. the car cost him $5000 to buy the car, motor and do the conversion. wrx's are a completely different car to the GTR. they are aimed at 2 different markets. the GTR was aimed at the supercar type of racing, so it has taller gears, etc and makes a better track car. the WRX is more rally based, so its not such a good track car. i know if i had the option of either a 25k, 100% stock gtr or a 10k, 100% stock silvia and then spending the other 15k on making it go fast i know which way i'd go. sure the gtr would get a better launch, but once you get moving the silvia would soon flex its muscles. but you guys keep having fun comparing your cars that cost well over 50k new to cars that cost 20k and cost about half as much to run.
  11. so if i had put one on my 33 i would've gained 95hp according to this. as far as i can tell, all it does is lean the hell out of your motor. you could get the same effect by drilling a hole in the side of the plenum (on a natro car).
  12. whenever you drive any RWD car that looks done up you will get pulled over. as for skylines doing skids, when i had my 33, whenever i saw someone i knew either in the street or coming the other way, or just drove past their work and they were out the front, it was back to second, slow down to about 50kmh, heel/toe the brake and the gas until it builds up to full boost then kick the clutch and dance it up the street. i went through my rear tyres in 5000kms. i never did this in any of my other cars. i never really did any skids in any of my other cars, just the skyline. i never got cought in the skyline either. skyline owners were already getting picked on when i got mine, but i didn't help the situation.
  13. does the scramble boost button tell the boost that the cops are coming so they all scramble?
  14. if the car you buy is an auto, i'd fit a tranny cooler, no matter what sort of car it is. better to be safe than sorry.
  15. its all good. got a hold of him.
  16. sorted out.. hopefully
  17. anyone?
  18. hi i was wondering whether anyone knew how i could contact glamour detailing services on the gold coast, i cant seem to find there phone number or address in the white/yellow pages.
  19. i'd say something like an old V8. my father-in-law used to tow his caravan to wintersun every year with a VB commodore with a stock 253 in it, and it towed it better than his EA falcon. although a late model car will tow better than an early falcon. we towed a silvia back from brissy with an auto vt commodore (v6 with over 200,000ks on the clock) and it towed fine, so i'd say an au falcon would be fine. just stick on a good tranny cooler. but idealy a turbo diesel would be best.
  20. and simple solution is to ask if you can go and inspect it.
  21. OMG its got the biggest motor i've ever seen in a skyline, 2500L.
  22. i know people who know him. but he really should get a car that will handle a bit better than a falcon. if he had a car the handled a bit better he might not have spun out a few weeks back in front of my mate (who ended up hitting a sign post while trying to avoid him).
  23. you are just a tool. how about you go and outlay a few thousand dollars on something that you think you are going to get in 2 months, then wait an addition 10 months on top of that and see how you like it. he isn't doing them any favours. it is a business transaction. and i'm sure he is making his fair share of profit out of it, which he is entitled to do.
  24. they only have bike lanes in major cities. other places have no bike lanes and the bikes are mixed in with the traffic. and most people think that they have no rights being on the road, when the road rules say differently.
  25. this and the increasing police crack down on imports is another reason why i no longer drive my skyline.
