  1. Here is a pic of the ARC kit from their website, the design is different to what I expected, I thought they used the inlet and exit on the same side. BOOSTD is this the same as your one?
  2. Yeah, I gave GCG a ring, it is $1950 to my turbo, they do a full rebuild with steel wheels etc, so it is probably worth it. I will have a look at injectors, and I got a price on a GTR pump brand new from Nissan $800, plus needs to get ordered from Japan - stuff that. I have a mate who works in a jap wreckers, I will get him to keep an eye out for me. Is it possible to get around the 300-350rwhp mark running a hi-flowed turbo, FMIC & PowerFC on 14psi, with a GTR fuel pump and bigger injectors?
  3. Here is the link, obviously scroll down the page to see the Nissan section: http://www.perfectrun.com.au/performance%2...intercooler.htm
  4. I will probably get the 470x260x70mm cooler, that is the only one which Perfect Run advertise, and that will probably be a pretty nice size for my level of modification. The smaller core should also help with response and turbo lag (well, that is the idea anyway). I will have a look at Ebay to see if there is any decent coolers there, but as I said before, I don't mind paying $1000 for a good cooler. The Apexi GT Hybrid sounds good too.
  5. The main reason I am going for an ARC is for better response and decreased turbo lag. I have seen a few people (on various forums) complaining about loss of response and power after fitting a large cooler (like a 600x300x80). The ARC kit from Perfect Run is not that expensive, about $1100 or so including freight from japan. Yeah, it is more expensive than a GKTech kit, but it seems like the benefits will be worth it. I will get some pics and details of the install up as soon as it is done. I am just waiting on the buyer for my SS Commy to come up with the cash.
  6. Thats what I like to hear. I will be putting in an order for an ARC cooler very shortly....
  7. Good to hear, I have heard people say some good things about ARC. I have no problem paying $1000 or whatever for the cooler, as long as I know I paying for good quality. sounds like the ARC kit is the way to go. Thanks for the help guys.
  8. Thanks mate. I didn't realise it was that much. It that a price for a turbo outright or an exchange (or "they do mine") basis? I will be running a Power FC, I am just looking a little past the basic mods for when the horsepower bug bites a little deeper. I suppose I will probably need bigger injectors and fuel pump while I am at it too....
  9. Sorry if this has been asked 1000 times, I searched but couldn't find anything useful. I am wondering what the cost of getting a standard R33 turbo hi-flowed would be. I would like to be able to safely run say 14psi or so. Also, does anyone know any decent workshops in Sydney that do this?
  10. Thanks mate, I will be getting a PFC anyway, irrespective of what cooler I get. I have no doubt that the GKTech kit will do the job fine, but after seeing a couple of threads about people losing power and response because they upgraded to a large 600x300x80 (or whatever) cooler, I figured that the ARC would reduce turbo lag (therefore making the car more responsive), and potentially be more efficient because of the smaller core and shorter pipes. I was just wondering if the ARC kit would be worth the extra money. You mentioned that the GKTech kit will be MORE than enough for a street skyline, but my concern is that it might be TOO much. Once I sell my Commodore, I will have a few $$ to spend, I want what is best, not necessarily cheapest.
  11. I have seen a few people mention ARC intercoolers, and some have mentioned that their piping design is better than others because they have the intercooler feed and exit on the same side of the core. I found that Perfect Run has ARC "Turn Flow" intercoolers 470x260x70mm with piping etc for under $1000. My question is: would this kit be better than say a 600x300x76mm cooler like the GKTech (even though the GKTeck is alot cheaper), or a Trust one or something like that. Quite a few people say that the GKTech coolers are the best value for money, but would the ARC be better for response and less turbo lag with it having a shorter piping track and smaller core, or is it just not worth the extra money. The other mods I am planning on is full exhaust, 10psi & Apexi PFC (maybe 180rwkw), pure street car, not race.
  12. No worries mate. Yeah, clutch next weekend, I got the kit yesterday and got the flywheel machined so it is all ready to go.
  13. Perhaps danielson doesn't want to post the timeslip because he feels he has nothing to prove - considering we have a few 10, 9 & 8 sec cars in the area, we see critics all the time. The guy asks for an opinion on his new turbo, and everyone gets hooked up on the mention of the car running a 10, rather than the topic at hand. Congratulations guys, you are real credit the the Skyline Forum. Danielson, if you need a hand with your car, you know where to find me.
  14. At the moment I have the standard cooler, but I will be going to a FMIC soon (probably one of the GKTech ones). I am getting a standard airbox, when everything goes in, I will have a look and see what I can do. I was just curious as to whether there was a CAI kit available aftermarket for the Skyline, if not, I will make my own up.
  15. Didn't realise that, when I get the airbox in, I will have a look at what I can do then.
  16. Get an LS7 crate motor from the USA. That will get it moving. If you really feel like you want to go nuts, add some boost via a twin turbo setup (although I think the LS7 runs about 11:1 compression). 13s? Ha! How does an 11 sec fourby sound? Make sure you pay your life insurance up though.
  17. Is the cruise still on for this weekend? Is anything planned for the long weekend. Hoepefully my clutch will be fixed next Saturday, so cruising on Sunday/Monday sounds good.
  18. What is their problem with turbo timers? You need to let a turbo car cool down for a couple of minutes, what difference does it make if the key is in the ignition when it is running or not? I would like to see them get my turbo timer out. Mine is incorporated as part of the alarm system.
  19. I suppose the old cut a hole in the bottom of the airbox with a tube going to the front bar trick might work. I was just wondering if there is like an over the radiator type CAI available, though they probably wouldn't fit with FMIC piping anyway.
  20. I have an R33 GTS-T series 2 which currently has a HKS pod filter. I want to get rid of the pod and put in a factory airbox with high-flow filter and cold air intake. Is there any CAI kits available for the R33? Does anyone know who sells them? Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.
  21. In a car that heavy, a V8 would definitely be the way to go. CAPA in WA did a Boss 260 5.4L Ford V8 + supercharged into a Ford Territory, and that runs 13 flat. I am not sure about the V8 metioned before, but something like a Holden LS1 rebuilt with a head/cam package and a PD blower would create plenty of torque, probably enough for 13 sec passes if built right. You are going into unchartered territory with a conversion like that though, expect plenty of extra $$ for custom crossmembers, bellhousing, blah blah blah... Although if the specs in Post #9 are accurate, then the RB25 & RB26 produce more torque than the standard motor anyway.
  22. How about an Australian cop car. I took this photo from outside the Police HQ in Parramatta.
  23. I sent Branko a message on the SC forum. He wants to know what sort of cc rating or HP figures you are after. Also, is it a 14mm O-ring and standard or aftermarket fuel rail?
  24. Mate, try this site. www.tuffcarparts.com The name of the guy who runs it is Branko. He is a good source of info. He frequents the Street Commodores forum under the name of Sir5.7, try him, he is a very good source of information. I got injectors off him for my Commodore, Bosch 30lb for $500 set of 8. He should be able to get ones for the Skyline too.
  25. I agree that an engine with 119000 genuine kms should not need rebuilding, but I am also saying that there may be a legitimate reason for the rebuild - maybe the previous owner rebuilt it as a preventative measure, maybe they overheated it and fried the engine. My point is that if a dealer is willing to swap a "perfectly good" R32 GTR for a R34 GT, which is probably not worth much more to the car yard, then one has to ask why. Personally I think that there is some reason that the car yard is trying to get rid of the GTR. It isn't worth their while doing the swap unless the car yard is either getting rid of a car they don't want or cant sell, or the car that they are getting is worth more than the vehicle they are trading.
