Best Tyres Under $300 Each
jrocket replied to Freeman's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hey guys. I have the fedral brand tyres on the rear which are 255/40/r17. They cost me $175 brand new fitted. They seem to be okay. Good grip etc. I am not sure how long i will get out of them though. They were the cheapest i could find round my area. Got them from lillydale. -
hey just wanting to know how many cars you are expecting to come, or how many you had come on the last cruise.
-
Hi i am interested in attending the cruise and show n shine at the start. How many positions have you left. Just wondering how many kms the cruise will prob cover.
-
Yeah thats a bit crap. So technically if i am doing doughnuts on my property they can come up and fine me and take my car.
-
Hey thanks guys for the info. I will have to think about this in a bit more depth it seems. I will look into that permit thing. I wass thinking that if you did what eva u wanted on private property that all the police could do was stand at the side lines and watch.

Hi all. I live out in the country area bout 2 hrs from melb and I find it hard to get to melb to go to different car events such as drags, drift, etc. I was talking to a mate the other day and we were thinking that we need something local that we can do. We are both into skid pan stuff at the moment and thought that we should try find somewhere that we can have fun safely and legally. My question is do you think that I should go and consult a police officer about me organising such an event where we could perhaps have police supervision or something. I was thinking of finding somewhere local that is off the roads and suitable such as dissused car parks, industrial areas. I would of course obtain permission to go there. I have thought about spectators n ppl getting hurt but it will only be a small group of my mates so not many spectators. It would be good if i could start up a event day with the local council here and i thought talking to the police about it might be a good start. What do others think. Am I just crazy???

Hey all. Just wondering if there is any skyline cruises or meets happening in melbourne around the mulgrave area etc in the next few days. Or can anyone suggest any good places round mulgrave or somewhere that is a good place to hangout and meedt other car enthusiasts.

You should do what i do. Get who ever is in the car with ya at the time to get out n tell me how close i am to the gutter. Or if no one is present i just get out n check my self. Bit of a hastle, i am still getting used to the car and how close it attually is from gutters etc.

Toothpaste might work okay to take very fine layer off the head lights. I am going to borrow a special jewlers tool like a dremel (think thats the name) from my work which we use to polish metal to a mirror finish. It comes with felt pads and a diamond paste (like $80 for glue stick size tube) and i will give this a go on my head lights n tell yas how it turns out.

Yeah its a pain in the ass. I have a flange right under the diff which sticks out like dogs balls. I loose like 10mm of clearance from that alone. My thoughts are to chop it out of that spot and weld back in somewhere higher. Then to make the rest of the exhaust hug the car beter i will prob use some of that stainless steel braided flex exhaust and that should be able to let the rest of the pipe sit higher. When the flange is moved i might get the pipe near the diff squashed into a bit of an oval which will retain the volume still and give me good clearance.

Head Lights. Does Your Car Do This?
jrocket replied to jrocket's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Thank everyone for the feed back. It given me quite a bit to think about. I am quite pissed bout the damage on the underside of my car passing before. I had a go at repairing it today. I just going to use a metal mend repair glue to hold the section in place then tar over it and should pass ok. It was only a short rip in the chassis but not compromising it at all. But just cos its the chassis the dudes wont pass it. Makes me wonder what the hell the jap owner did with this car. -

Yeah i can rewire it if i wanted but its a lot of trouble to go to if the car is meant to be as it is. I will see what happens at the next place i get rw done. Man i been having some troubles. I got my car not 2 months ago and first time i get pulled up i get canned. I haven't even touched the car since i brought it from a dealer. I was under the impression that thecar was legal as it had passed road worthy. Underneath the car ther was some minor chassis damage and i brought it to the attention of the dealer when i was looking at the car. When i go to pick the car up i looked under it and damage still there and i figured it must have been not bad enough to make the car unroad worthy and i figured i will just get it fixed in my own time. Also the car was low but i figured it must be legal too as they got it road worthied. So i thought nothing more of these things. Then i getting pulled up and cop issues tickets and defect for car sitting too low and made me get it checked over again. Turns out that the damage underneath is unacceptable and needs repair and engineers to pass. Also tint that came with car too dark. And i get this headlight bull $hit to fix also. Oh did i mention this car was previously ment to pass roadworthy. -
Hey sorry bout the lame heading but it draws attention. I was just wondering if many of you guys have 3inch or larger exhausts on your car. I have a r33 GTS-T and the exhaust hangs down quite low. Cops were afraid it might hit the ground and sent me to get it looked at. I want the exhaust to sit up higher but it has to go under the diff and this it where my problem is mainly. Its hard to get your 100mm here. What have other ppl done. I am thinking of getting the whole exhaust modified to better fit the car so i can still have it lowish.

LOL thanks for the feed back guys. yeah i was just really suprised when he mentioned it. But how can i prove that the skyline is setup like this from factory. I am going to get the car road worthied by another place ne ways so hopefully i wont have this problem again. -
Tinted Windows. Is There A Factory Tint
jrocket replied to jrocket's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
My car has quite dark rear window tint and side quarters behind the driver which is still quite easy to see thru and i put the darkest legal tint on the door glass instead of going to the darker tint to try and keep it legal. I am not sure if i can have the other windows darker than legal. It can be much over though cos road worthy guy says that i have to get vicroads to check it but i don't want to have to replace most of the tint on the car. Also i am in vic. -

Tinted Windows. Is There A Factory Tint
jrocket posted a topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Hi just wondering if anyone know if r33 skylines come out with a factory tinted rear and side quater windows. My car was tintted when i got it and i think its too dark for legal. -
Hi all. Just wanting to know some info on the head lights of the skyline r33. I had to take my car to a tester to get a road worthy done and they tested the head lights and said that when you turn it from low beam to high beam the low beam lights cut out and that they are suppose to stay on with the high beams. I thought this was just the way the skylines are. Does anyone elses car do the same thing. My car failed the test as a result of this bs. They recon that a relay might be the blame or the light selector on the column. Any info would be great.

Tein Suspension Legal Issues
jrocket replied to jrocket's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hey thanks for the info. yeah i was given that same story by the police. They recon it should still have 2/3 of its travel. Yeah it does still have the travel there i just cut it down to reduce roll of the car body. i think the police rather we drive around in cars that handle like shopping carts. I don't understand that if u enhance a car performance making it better handling and safer to drive why they say it is illiegal. -
Hi I was wondering if coil over adjustable suspension is legal to have on your car. I have tein suspension front and back. The man stopped me lastnight and recons that the car is too stiff and cos of the suspension it should have never passed road worthy. Is this true. any info would be great. thx
