A GTT intercooler on a R33 GTS-T is a very good upgrade it is effecient for power levels up to 200rwkw. my 2 cents For those saying the power increase is due to less pressure drop id say you are correct but its not because more boost is generated. Boost is messured after the intercooler remember. Power can be gained on the same boost level because the air is cooler this is for 2 reasons 1. less pressure drop so the turbo doesnt have to work as hard to produce the same boost 2. The efficency of the intercooler (air cooling is better) The colder the air the more oxygen it contains and the quicker it burns. Boost does make power but sometimes quality of air is better than quantity. If you choose to run stock boost not much will be gained by installing a FMIC because the stock one is efficent at this level. I was running 10psi with the stocker then upgraded to a hybrid FMIC, I gained heaps of power on the same boost cheers

All R33 GTS25-T have NVCS on the intake side from winkipedia Nissan Variable Cam Timing (commonly known as N-VCT, VCT or NVCS) is an automobile variable valve timing technology developed by Nissan. N-VCT varies the timing of the valves by rotating the cam shaft(s), valve lift and duration are NOT altered. The system is implemented with an electric solenoid which is controlled by the cars ECU. Some Nissan engines only have N-VCT on the inlet cam (such as the RB25DE/DET) while ot hers have it on both the inlet and exhaust cams. People have had mixed results with the standard turbo still in place. You only need to replace the exhaust cam gear and -3 to -4 seems to give the best results but not always as every engine is different. cheers
  3. Ive never heard that the s2 r33 turbo has stronger internals than the s1 I thought the weekest point on both turbos was the ceramic wheel which fails if to much heat is generated. As far as I was aware the only real difference between these turbos was the nylon compressor wheel which would not make the turbo stronger but does reduce lag. But please correct me if I am wrong.
  4. What other mods do you have frankxinyu? siddr20 - best results are usually found at -3 -4 deg but can be different as every engine is different. You should get the car dyno tuned once the gear is installed they will need to experiment to find the best position.

  6. No after the cam gear I have no mods planned. To expensive for my liking as new turbo, injectors, ECU, AFM, ect will be needed. cheers

  11. I have a HKS super dragger (car back) and it is reasonbly quiet, well a lot quieter than any other skylines ive heard with similar mods. ICE Performance have the same exhaust on there supra and it makes over 500rwkw so it must flow well too. cheers
  12. Interesting discussion guys keep it up. So am in correct in stating that due to the shorter piping length and the efficiency of the new penum the intake tempurature was dropped which allowed for the extra timing ect? I find it hard to belive that the shorter piping would make that much difference to the heat of the air as it is moving extreemly fast. So there would not be enough time for it to get any hotter. (please correct me of I am wrong) So is it mainly to do with the extra effency of the plenum (easier for air to get into the engine) that equates to less heat been generated hence timing can be advanced?
  13. Mate I have looked into this and it comes down to this some people gain power some do not. Im getting my 100K service done shortly and getting a exhaust cam gear installed while I am at it. Apprantly the idea is to retard the timing by about 4 degrees it is meant to give you increased midrange and top end power. I will get the car dyno tuned and post before and after results. mods are full 3" exhaust intercooler (hybrid) 11psi boost safc2 195 rwkw cheers

  15. Going to get my 100k service done shortly and im wondering if I should upgrade the stock fuel pump while Im at it? Car produces 195rwkw as is and I am getting a exhaust cam gear installed and tuned while the cam belt is getting changed. So should I upgrade the fuel pump to? or just get the condition of the stocker checked? thanks
  16. Most certainly get shocks before you lower your car if you value handling at all. If you dont do this the car will handle worse than stock

  18. 195rwkw on 11psi with the stock turbo a gcg highflow is still very responsive and good for 265rwkw with supporting mods. The read this in HPI there project car a while ago was a R34 GTT and this is what they had to say about the gcg turbo vs the stocker. stock - boost starts to build at 1000rpm and full boost by 2800rpm highflow - boost starts to build at 1000rpm full boost by 3200rpm My r33 (has the steel not nylon compressor wheel) boost starts at 1000rpm full boost at 3000rpm cheers

  20. I was running 10psi before the intercooler upgrade and 10psi after and a big difference in power was noticed. Cant comment on the difference it would have made in stock boost though but I tend to agree with mad082's comment.
  21. You will need a aftermarket ECU and other supporting mods mate. There is no cheap way out unfortunatly, things start to get expensive when you get to this stage. cheers
