  3. u know theres only 1 car in the HPI drag records which ran its time at kwinana... bit dissapointing. but seeing as the entry level time for a under 2400cc RWD is a 12.87 im a fair way off myself
  4. i would never import again other than the normal reasons such as a long wait, paperwork, hassles, the chance of the car being a piece of shit if you want my reasons PM me, cos i cant say on open forums
  5. just cos its been rebuilt recently whos to say it aint damaged? thats complete crap... maybe it reduces the chances of it being wrecked but it only takes 1 dyno run, or 1 1/4 mile to screw and engine. 10K to rbuild an RB26DETT and 2 x turbos. youd be doing it either in your backyard or with a shitty parts list
  6. yeh you need to modify the bonnet latch (move it back) and you need a grille to fit in the new gap. other than that its a straight fit. id like to hear more about people who have modified their GTS bonnets, as this would appear to be a more cost-effective solution with GTR bonnet being worth $6-800

  8. i dont think 700 degrees is critical. youre talking more around the 8-900 mark before damage occurs... mine usually runs around the 650 mark. if youre really worried a dyno is a better place to measure its state of tune and/or longetivity
  9. people who havent imported themselves shouldnt praise the system so much. yeh the price tag is lower, what that doesnt include is the fact you know nothing about the car before it lands, you will have headaches for 2-3 months waiting for it to land, then u have to compliance and license it. im sick of people praising the system as though its fool-proof. and i feel especially sorry for those who take this ignorant advice on the premise they are entering into the greatest deal of the century. a good exmaple is these 15 year old GTRs, come on people these arent 15 year old camrys theyre not going to be in the best condition when they arrive (esp the modified ones.)
  10. i dont think these 2 cars are even in the same league. does the term 'running costs' mean anything to you. if youre gunah suggest an alternative, try and make it a realistic one as that may actually help him... on the original topic yeh i think it is a decent price, and if thats the car you want then go for it
  11. my fuel economy is nowhere near that bad RB20DET Bosch 910 on 10psi i get about 400-450km a tank on 14.5psi i get about 380-400km a tank

  14. paul; no its not there are plenty of ways of measuring injector duty cycle
  15. paul; what havent i done! haha its hard to pinpint what exatly made a difference cos did a whole heap of stuff at once... simon said his injectors ran at 100% duty cycle at 240rwhp on steve's dyno. i made 238 @ 12psi then pinged at 14psi. maybe my injectors are maxed
  16. yeh mate im interested car seems to be behaving itself now no overheating, and the turbo has gone quiet

  19. jash; i appreciate that, and i havent been able to deal with that problem just yet. when i do i will let you know as at this stage i want to ditch all my ECUs and run a remap.
  20. i know these cars are cheap, but its painful to see people praise them so much. the running costs will outweigh the initial price eventually, and thats when you start to realise that a 15+ year old performance car isnt such a good idea theres also talk to the law being changed to 20 years so be careful you dont buy the car and then get it stuck in japan for another 5 years!
  21. haha enjoy the repair bills on that car itll cost you more than 20K in the first year to rebuild the engine and turbo. you honestly think a 15 year old GTR hasnt had the thrashing of a lifetime? yeh theyre good engines, but not that good
  22. it may be worth replacing the wastegate spring, i cant imagine itd be an expensive excercise
  23. theres a screaming gasket leak around the turbo area, i wanted to know which gasket is under enough pressure that a small leak would turn into a scream? turbo to manifold? (ive also got an external wastegate but im 99% sure its not one of those gaskets)
