Absolutely! They mean 'trackworthy' rather than 'roadworthy' - ie. no loose parts inside or outside the car, no major fluid leaks, working seatbelts/harnesses, seats properly secured, etc. Safety items.

I probably eat more than the average person. How I don't weigh more than 58kg I don't know. I eat so much. I found that container was barely enough for one meal.

You'll need to bring your own helmet. Motorbike helmets can be had for ~$100 and you'll be using them again as you'll get addicted to these events. You need one for passenger rides as well.

There's no room to haggle on these cars at the moment anyway, demand outweighs supply by a huge amount so no dealer is going to give you a price reduction. What it stops is dealers marking up over RRP by upping dealer delivery charges, etc. which is what some Toyota dealers have been doing. You only need to look at the phantom cars on Carsales to realise - these cars don't exist, they're getting people to call up and they say "oh sorry, we don't have any GTS. Oh but look, we have a GT, here you can have it for xxx (over retail price) right now." So at least you don't have to deal with any of that bullshit. When I ordered on Saturday it said 12+ months so it's gone up a month on the website. The Subaru dealership itself was quoting a shorter lead time (approx. 9 months) but we'll see. I've put a clause in my contract that I can pull out if the wait extends past 12 months. Just waiting for confirmation of my contract acceptance, hopefully tomorrow!

The 'hype' came from car journos who fell in love with the car and the word spread like wildfire. Not much advertising has been done, the car sells itself. It's not like the you can just waltz into a dealer and buy one (well, maybe a base model GT if you're in the right place at the right time - the demand isn't as high.) No denying it's not fast but straight line speed isn't everything. I've had cars with straight line speed, nothing I've had feels as fun as this car. Go and drive one before you pass judgement.

Oh absolutely, they were far nicer. Really pleasant experience at Subaru Docklands, that's why I nominated them as the dealer I'd pick up from even though there's 4 closer to me. I want them to get the comission. I just appreciated their no bullshit attitude and allowing me to test drive it by myself, given how rare the car is and if I wrecked it they'd have nothing for people to test drive and they couldn't even get another one in for a year!

There's limited numbers around to test drive and they're being really protective of them. All metro Toyota dealers pretty much have one that I spoke to but it might not be the model or transmission you want, or they don't want you to drive it. The BRZ there's even less around but Subaru Docklands were happy for people to test drive it. And that's more surprising given the way you have to order them and they might not see anything from the sale (if you nominate to get it delivered to another dealer.)

I'm sure they'd have one you could borrow. But I carry a screwdriver in my handbag all the time, you don't know the amount of times you end up needing one! It's not so great when your bag is being scanned at the airport before your flight and you forget it's in there though lol

I tried through the website (like you are supposed to), no-one got back to me. So I called Subaru Docklands and booked a time. Toyota on the other hand, you're best to just call. You'll either get a wanker salesman that wants a deposit intending to purchase before test drive or you'll get one willing to offer you a test drive - luck of the draw.

The interior is different in the BRZ, the dash panel is silver rather than fake carbon fibre. The instrument cluster is classier - black with silver edging and digital speed readout like the GTS. I test drove it at Subaru Interactive Docklands. They have two available for test drive - one auto Black and one manual Blue. My auto Premium Pack + diffuser + mats worked out to $42,225 drive-away.

Hahahaha, I'm not that tacky There's an absolute bucketload of kits already developed and in development - both supercharger kits and turbo kits. They have so much untapped potential, they're a pretty high comp motor. Small turbo, 8PSI, bigger direct injectors, fuel management system and the power jumps from 103rwkw to 216rwkw which I don't think anyone would be dissapointed with. I wouldn't be heading down the forced induction route until the warranty period is up because I value the warranty & free servicing for 3 years and the long term reliability remains to be seen. The yanks have extracted even more power with minimal boost.

They dealer said 9 months but the website quotes 12 months. I'm cool with 9-12 months. I've ordered a WRC Blue Mica BRZ Premium Pack (leather/alacantra heated seats) with optional rear diffuser and floor mats. I hope the mod bug doesn't hit me too hard, it's such a fun car to drive.

I ordered mine last night finally, test drive left me grinning from ear-to-ear Optioned it up so it's on par with the 86 GTS in terms of price, but the BRZ has a much nicer front and interior.

It's going to be a long wait for my new car, but it's going to be worth it
