  2. i agree, thats an awesome shot Kory. and yes, we do need to see some Cube rolling shots!
  3. ^ it was my partners birthday and it was the first time she saw a sea lion in the river so helped make the day pretty awesome i had a look through your flickr and love that square pan shot of the train under the bridge. did you only take the one photo between april and december?
  4. double post, so shoot me spotted this guy prancing around and loving the attention in the onka river (click click)
  5. Yeah definately man! It would help if I took my tripod (and some lights, lol) this was just a quick shot with me holding my breath hoping not to shake the camera too much as it was already at 1/5th, haha. i took this at the beginning of the year and only just got around to editing it. at the time i was thinking of starting an "L 7" project, 1 square crop image a day/week, but the 365 project was doing my head in as it was, lol. EDIT: love those phone pics MaikuL. proof that its not the tool its the way you use it
  6. like when you see high speed stills of a hand karate chopping wood or something? rode my awesome bike to the southern expressway to waste a few mintues before tea
  7. err um yeah lol
  8. ^wow, i want fireworks at my wedding! also, those sunset shots from canberra, photomerge them together then crop it... would make an awesome pano! i used to live in one of the suburbs at the base of that tower. would spend the morning climbing the hill to the tower then fly down the hill in the arvo. such an awesome place.
  9. yeah, not wrong. i should let him know. he spent over 40 hours on making up the stencils (10 layers) and then 5 hours in spraying it. hope he gets a few sales at the exhibition, I love watching his work evolve.
  10. double post, sorry. i just wanted to show this off, lol. a local stencil artist contacted me about creating a piece based on this photo... well it is now finished and is in a gallery in adelaide at the moment... i was blown away when i first saw it. cant wait to get in there tomorrow to see it close up.
  11. haha, bet he loved that! love the last two landscape shots!
  12. woohoo!!! welcome to the world of pro photography Matboy, love that tree shot of yours. Specially the square crop (i know, im a sucker for the square) oh, and Sidd, this is awesome!!! did you direct her to have her face where it was, or was it a lucky coincidence that the shadow lined up perfectly with the cheekbone? either way, worked out sweet
  13. love the variety and quality of this thread! went for another ride to the onka river. looks like it will be a daily thing for me. actually got off the bike and walked out onto the swamp area for a few shots...
  14. with night scenes tungsten seems to work best i found. on the D90 the white balance button is on the back (3rd from the top on the left, labelled WB/?/Key) just press it and give each setting a try. you'll eventually get a feel for which one works best in which light. i remember on the d90 you can set the white balance as a K value, that helps really dial it in, just give a few different settings a try. ken rockwell gives a good rundown on white balance. all i know about it is the camera tends to need a hand in artificial light. http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/whitebalance.htm EDIT: Nice Rhys, some sweet shutter dragging going on!
  15. love that first one Josh! but any reason you used auto white balance in the bottom pic? would look awesome if wb was set properly (and horizon was 1/3 or 2/3 instead of in the middle)
  16. handheld pano while hanging out in a tree today. love this place, only a few minutes ride up the bikeway. (click to zoom) love the pelicans (click to zoom) and, while i was on the top of this... i took this... (click to zoom) EDIT: Also love those shots Micheal
  17. cheers man. can you believe that about 10/20 mins after that was taken the sun was out killing my eyeballs, haha.
  18. christies beach
  19. if only some nice cars drove past our ghetto
  20. this is as close to motorsports as it gets for me these days, lol on a plus side tho, it didnt require a 4 hour round trip and a tank of juice that i cant afford, haha.
  21. my d90 had over 80k clicks before i sold it on, apparantly its still kicking. i would expect it to get around 100, maybe even 150k out of the shutter?
  22. i was as back as far as i could. might help if i actually left the carport
  23. ^done! good luck dude. had a go at light painting our van tonight... babow, lol.
  24. on my d90 some of the rubber on the back of the body started to lift out (the corner above the LiveView button) during two days of shooting at oran park (da 09) by the end of the second day i also had a blister that made shooting quite painful. ive since wondered how a similar spec'd canon would have felt after two days of shooting. gloves may or may not have helped, but i never really got around to giving them a try.
  25. haha, you can call it that too. if anyone has a spare minute or two, could you please vote on my entry in the gopro contest as i want to win one of the new 11MP GoPro Hero2 cameras. would be awesome to have a spare, I'd be keen for a lot more kite flying if i knew i wasnt risking my only camera, lol. http://promoshq.wildfireapp.com/website/6/contests/162075/voteable_entries/35749839 cheers.
