  1. yes, your saying it was at the cops discretion to impound your car for street racing that didnt take place on your part. Well if you want to get technical, the 33 you were overtaking who dumped it next to you could have rightly been impounded for street racing, when all you were doing was passing him, not trying to race him! as said, it will be just like the defect situation, the police have discretion over things such as "on suspicion of" etc. Im sure many a grandma has unintentionally squeeled her tyres off the line, and technically could have her car impounded under these hoon laws! One thing is for sure tho, just like the defect situation, it makes me want to drive my car less, and when im out i am far more conscious of cars around me, and of my actions behind the wheel. So whilst i find frustrating to no end knowing that if a cop doesnt like the look of me he has the power to take my car, i guess the authorities are having the effect they wanted.
  2. yes cubes i do understand what your saying, i was never confused. Thats good that you have experience with all those engines, but i still dont see RB25DET running an GT2530 on your list. Hence the point i am trying to make- I never said your solution simply doesnt work, and i have said he may get a tiny bit extra (which is not going to be worth the cost of a learning EBC anyways) my point is to listen to my and others experiences WITH THIS TURBO ON AN RB25!!!! and save Robo's some time and money!! Bottom line is, anybody can tell me i can do anything, but then if i ask them, "so you have done this for yourself with the same setup as mine?" and they say "well actually no i havent". well then thats great. there is nothing wrong with people posting opinions and theory's in order to help each other out, but i always prefer first hand info thats all..! Robos, youve been pretty quiet, please go and try these things out and get back to us, as if it can be done to achieve significant power increase i would really like to know what ive been missing!!!
  3. firstly are the gt2530's still available? i know that many of the GT series are discontinued. They are rated at 320ps each and would be perfect for the power you want, and you can still get them 2nd hand. The GTSS's would be awesome for response, but are rated slightly less at 280ps. but im sure if you get a pair of them setup and tuned you wont be complaining! who will tune a MINES ECU??? the main thing when considering an ECU is what tuners are available to you, and what do they specialise in? You are in London? I read an article from your Japanese Performance Mag, on the autronic ecu... Best bet is to find the tuner you want to use, and ask what he prefers to tune, and there is your choice. Power FC i believe is really your only plug and play option and used with proven results here in Aus, but as said above, you tuner has to like it.

  6. like i said cubes, i stated in my last post he may get an extra psi or 2, the point is that it wont hold significant boost up top. it is interesting you are so sure about your boost controller theory, please go try it and show me the results! not having a go, but your saying "just go do this and im sure it will work" without having done it yourself. Now dont take that wrong, you may be the learning EBC king, but until youve tried it on an rb25 with a 2530, its all just theory, and would be more help to robos if it were proven! i know of a stock turbo r33 doing 220rwkw at just over a bar. Like the 240rwkw example you mentioned, its a one off. the fact is that 2530's on rb25s average ~220rwkw.
  7. Hi robos. speaking from direct experience with the 2530 on an RB25, good luck if you go looking for that top end boost! Ive read all the discussion here and its good, it does make sense, but i believe you will be wasting your time and money! Cubes is certain you can do it, so maybe get him to reimburse your costs if it doesnt work Bottom line is for whatever technical reason, the 2530/RB25 will NOT hold 17psi at the top of the rev range. Ive tried numerous EBCs including the E-boost, which while i think cubes pointed out is not a learning one or whatever, it does have the function of supplying NO signal to the gate actuator until a certain pressure which you set is reached. So i played with that for ages, couldnt get boost to hold. Then i put on a propper 1.2bar wastgate actuator- just watch the boost guage as it revs out, the boost will fall off just the same. Even attached extra springs to put more pressure on the gate to try and hold it closed, boost still drops off. I even tried different dump pipes, split, open, etc, to no avail. Im thinking a few things. that the turbo doesnt flow enough air to hold the boost up top. also as mentioned the rb25 spins the little 2530 out of its range. Guys just remember while the 2530 is a great turbo, it is definitly much overestimated. Get hold of one, the things are tiny. Also this misconception that just coz its HKS that "its only getting started at x-Bar boost"... your still governed to physics and you still need a propperly matched turbo for your engine! Robos: Lots of good discussion here! while im aware of tim's status and his worldly travels, and do believe he knows his stuff, i would be listening to the people who have gone the hard yards in this SPECIFIC setup. As turbo Tits said, those who have tried it have done so at considerable time and cost, and you can benefit directly from our experiences! I am not saying that you wont be able to pull together every little trick in the book and maybe get an extra psi of boost or something, but im telling you now, you wont see more than ~230rwkw from an RB25 on pump fuel with your turbo. The 2535 will give you that extra top end your chasing.
  8. Ill start with some recent ones.. Thizzle's GT-RS, FC, 1bar, pump fuel (im assuming)
  9. With so many threads about turbo upgrades for RB25's i thought itd be a good idea to start a thread that shows results only, as the results from various threads are scattered everywhere. Everyone has there own ideas about what power they want so obviously there isnt ONE perfect turbo upgrade for everyone. Please post your RB25 dyno graphs only and state the following: -Engine management -Boost ran -Fuel used (pump or special) -significant engine mods (eg cams) The idea of this thread is to be a quick reference to various turbo's performances on RB25's, not to be a discussion thread. Thanks (If this has been done already let me know, but didnt come up one in search.) Check (if you live in usa): Costco Weekly Ad, or Supercheap Auto Catalogue.
  10. roy, so is the Garret GT3040 internal gate turbo previously mentioned, that UAS sell, not a real garret GT3040, but a highflowed VG30??
  11. mose, hows about posting up your dyno chart? im very interested in seeing it as am yet to see a chart from a 2540 on an rb25 thanks
  12. im not trying to have a go, but seriously, vaporising rubber, a bit of water in your tyres messing up your ABS?? It sounds a little strange. the ABS shouldnt really be affected. And how regularly do you do 200kph? Did you see these vandals filling the air hose with water? Air compressor hose is generally pretty tuff, im thinking it would be hard to make a tiny hole that wont leak instantly, then put water in through that hole.
  13. gee N/A with a post like that do you really expect a night of cruising without incident? and posting your planned route sounds like a real good idea buddy. Theres a lot of ppl giving car enthusiasts a bad name up here in NSW at the moment, its ppl like you that are really pissing off the public/police etc etc giving us all a bad name. Are you 18, on P's and drive a Silvia Q?
  14. if you think just jap is too expensive, try unique autosports! (ie even more expensive!) i just hooked up a set from just jap. UAS is charging 170 EACH for gtr front clear lenses, and i think 120ish for sides. either way, they are all crazy prices for little pieces of plastic.
  15. 70 grand in the bank and you want to go buy a very expensive first car) Sounds like fun but is also a stupid idea to spend that amount of cash on your first car. If you get a 34, do it up and insure it, youll pretty much have nothing left! Think where you'll be in 5-10 years, wicked car now, king amongst your mates, but nothing left later. Your most likely to crash your first car. Be smart and buy something nice but more sensible like an s13 or cheap R33, learn to drive it, and use the rest to buy a house/unit or something thats longterm sensible. Then youll be set! Not many 18 yr olds have an R34, but even less own realestate!
  16. i dont think they come with a bracket, i think my old one was opened up a bit to hold the 044
  17. im looking at a full respray... checked out that house of colour stuff, the colours are mad!, but so is the price of the paint! like around 600bucks a litre, and for that stuff your best off choosing a painter thats painted with HOK paint before, as apparently even experienced painters can get it wrong if they dont follow HOK's instructions to the letter.
  18. its all been said before, 33 is a nicer car than a 180 all round. i had 200rwkw (fmic, ecu, zorst boost etc) and ran a mates 180 with boost zorst, FMIC, NO ECU and the thing just leaped off the line like a frog everytime, about a car length ahead of me EVERY time! once rolling it was just about dead even, with me possibly just catching him if the road were long enough. Other silvias have surprised me with only minimal mods also. As mentioned i think its the extra weight we carry that prevents really good launches. And yes, with the same mods the s13 will run away! Sumfatchin, i hear you, i wouldnt swap!
  19. vovan, can you post a pic of your car? im interested to see what skylines in russia look like
  20. being the 5th person to quote you, .... agree with turbo tits. What experience do you have to make such a claim? I would think you would have be pretty qualified to call the very popular and reputable GCG guys "idiots", when they've been involved with turbos for many years. Its one thing to state that you may "think" the 2530 is way too small, but to state "they are way too small" is pretty stupid, as is calling GCG idiots. As mentioned, Turbo selection is all about application, and not just about "real kws". Sure you may be used to the response and peak power of big turbos, but for those looking for a completely streetable but still quick package, the GT2530 is an excellent choice. your post isnt going to help anyone actually trying to research this turbo, as its unqualified. how much power is your car making by the way, and with what turbo? Go tell all the members who have upgraded to this turbo that its way too small, after all, you would know.
  21. sounds pretty accurate if your car is close to stock, and you launched it well, as 6sec 0-100 is what nissan quote for your car standard.
  22. 240$ is too cheap for the new 4000 series with the new compound disc rotors. It sounds like you got a price for DBA longlife Gold rotors, which also come crossed and slotted, but are the old compound which is apparently no where near as good as the new one used in the 4000 series. I think the NEW 4000 series crossed/slotted RETAIL at around 400 bucks a pop. (as i dont think the new 4000's are gold, they are black around the hub and the outer vented surface, and have those Temperature indicating paint spots)
  23. a5h, you have 2 BOV's?? where are they mounted, what type are they, and do they go off at exactly the same time? Im also a fan of Epping road! The part just before you get to Epping is nice when theres no traffic, you can scream up that windy hill! Coming back down however is suicidal! -not seen speed cam either
