Turbo To Exhaust Manifold Gasket (standard Turbo)r33
skyguy61 replied to skyguy61's topic in Forced Induction Performance
Thanks Nismoid, I hear ya about the 6 months down the road okay, but are you saying there absolutely no movement(impossible) of the turbo with the bolts out not even 2 mm's? -
Hey I think Duncan is right , would we be talking about Hamilton if he were in a different team? i think not, sure he has driven very well but when you have either the best or second best car in the current year its far easier to win and place. I have'nt read every post in this forum guys so i'll ask this are you guys aware of the controversy about the Ferrari technology being handed over and shared illegally to a McClaren employee? And since it has come out in the open Ferrari is back on top, there has been evidence found by the English police at the McClaren employees home address, and its alleged that the Ferrari employee also tampered with the fuel they seem to have found a white powder trace.Ferrari will be seeking disiplinary action against McClaren thru the FIA.

Urgent: Skidpan Day At Eastern Creek 11th July
skyguy61 replied to black200is's topic in Events Archive
Hi Im interested but i wont know until the day, can you just show up? if not the hookers will have my money LOL -
Hey Plynx, Yes i have a heavy duty Exeedy clutch and pressure plate its been in there for probably two years or more, ive never had a problem with it, but i have noticed that the take up of the clutch seems to change sometimes lower sometimes higher not by much, the free play remained the same thou. I could'nt see any problems in the pedal area while i was adjusting the free play out to get me home from the track,i might take another look.........i think im going to pull the box out and rebend the lever then strengthen it with some welded ribs. thanks for your reply. cheers
-
Well then Liz maybe you could give me some private lessons LOL

Hi there, has anyone ever bent a release lever? i was at Wakefield yesterday and during the last session i could'nt change gear without crunching. To get home i had to adjust all the free play out of the pedal , even after that i still have to push the pedal extremely hard against the floor to be able to change gear.So if you've had this problem before please let me know did you just repair the bent one or replace it or repair and strengthen it?cheers btw it isnt air in the fluid it has been bleed with new fluid!

Hi All, What an awesome day yesterday was and the weather didnt dampen it at all, thank you Adam, Corrine ,Steve , Kel and Duncan Although ive had my car for almost 5 yrs it was my first event in it i dont know why I waited , Anyways all the hard work and hours of upgrading until late in the night was well worth it, I ran semi's although they were 16's they worked great and a bargain at $600 for the set new, the slotted rotor's and SRT pads worked fantastically so thanks Burko and Matt at Race Brakes, Thanks Ken at Jim Hunters Suspension. Thanks Neil for your guidance during the first session and showing me the race line.It was great to meet most of you there, i had an absolute ball and drove the pants of the car, Thanks Steve for the hand timing i got down to a 1.15 not bad for a first event,I think i can better that next time out when the clutch is disengaging properly, thanks Luke and Anna for the end of the day you guys got me home easier. Great seeing you again Liz and meeting you Andrew that car goes like the clappers well done awesome driving too. cheers Carlo

Hey Noone , I just bought semi's for my car and the advice i got is that although they might be smaller they'll handle the horsepower I have mine are 205/45/16 , RE55's should have a stiff sidewall so i think for you it'll be a question of will they handle the horsepower you have?If you have too much you'll fry'em , also the compound type(hard/medium/soft) will have a bearing on weather they'll do the job or not. cheers

Safe Boost For Track With Stardard Turbo R33gtst
skyguy61 replied to skyguy61's topic in Forced Induction Performance
Yeah Abo,Nismoid Okay i'll agree with more power=more heat , so why are Water injection sellers claiming it reduces the exhaust and combustion temps? Dont forget that adding the Water/Methanol mix increases the Octane rating of the fuel at high boost if that is where its used, higher octane fuel = slower burning.... less chance of detonation...wouldnt that reduce the temps but increase the combustion pressure over a longer time during the power stroke? hence more torque/power. just my thoughts, cheers Restless just ask your tuner to turn down your boost if he's worth his salt he'll do it for little or no cost. -
Safe Boost For Track With Stardard Turbo R33gtst
skyguy61 replied to skyguy61's topic in Forced Induction Performance
Hey guys, Thanks for your posts Paul,Abo,Nismoid and siddr20.......i'll be getting a tune done to 10psi shortly, Nismoid you say its a question of heat are you sayin that for this particular turbo as it has a ceramic turbine? Also if heat is the issue do you think this could be overcome by water injection? Okay to make it clear we all know that the ceramic turbo disintergrates at high boost for long periods ie on the track , so the reason for my question is if it could run cooler at high boost would it prolong the life of it? -
Hey Sydneykid, Would a Skyline or any car handle better if the stance of the car was level? most cars seems to be lower at the front,Id like to lower the rear of my car by 1/2 inch to 1 inch by cutting the rear springs cutting 1 coil off each spring only, would that be okay or would i lose too much spring rate? The car has stardard springs at the moment, I am going to upgrade the suspension in the future but right now im spending money in other areas, your advice would be appreciated. Cheers

Hey All, Abo are there sheds at Wakefield to change tyres undercover? Also is there any air pressure facilities available at the track? Cheers

Thanks Mafia, well worth the expense, please dont go to the trouble of doing a run without WI i think your estimate would be very close to the mark. ive been reading a lot and there is heaps of info about WI and lots of differing opinions about before or after the turbo WI,some guys even worry about the safety of Methanol verus Denatured Alcohol.See Excerpt below "The water/alcohol mix: Many people use methanol for the alcohol portion of their fluid, but I have found a few drawbacks. First, methanol is highly toxic and a known carcinogen. Second, it can be hard to come by. Third, it's highly corrosive. So, I decided to use denatured alcohol which is available at the local hardware store ($7 a gallon). Denatured alcohol is ethanol with a little methanol added so you can't drink it. Although it's still toxic, it's far less poisonous than straight methanol. You'll probably just go blind if you drink it, but maybe you won't die. Ethanol, by the way, is just good old booze in it's purest form. But again, don't drink denatured alcohol. For the water portion, use only distilled water. You don't want to clog the misting nozzle. You can adjust the mixture percentage as you see fit, but I recommend at least 20% water to get some of it's cleaning and in-cylinder cooling benefits" Im very keen on installing and running a WI system on my car.......i think the benefits and the gains are well worth the cost, cheers
-
Hey Mafia, Just curious how different your results would be without Methanol in power, knock and timing using the WI ? I read ages ago about your WI and the gains you made and thought you were on the right track ,excess HEAT in the cylinders is our enemy . great read guys keep it up. cheers

Engine Developed A Weird Knocking
skyguy61 replied to govich's topic in Forced Induction Performance
I'd have to agree with El Bee, its sounds like its in the top end a few sticky lifters maybe, try listening to it with a long screwdriver whilst the motor is idling, if it is that id be flushing it first then refill fill with clean oil and filter, also might be worth a look under the rocker cover for signs of coked up oil, just my 2 bobs worth, cheers Good luck with it hope it isnt any more serious than that. -
Why Use Cosworth Over Renault (the New Gtr)
skyguy61 replied to Smurf's topic in VR Series - R35 GTR, Juke-R
From what ive read its more about Cosworth getting the new GTR to pass EPA regulations which wont be easy for the USA,Renault have lots of Turbo experience from the Turbo era in F1 they also won the most races in the turbo era...
