  1. Best of luck mate, are you going to run with full interior, dot's etc or get some weight out to go for the 8? Rob
  2. Your welcome and well done mate, great job. Robbie.
  3. What a weekend we've just had at Import Allstars. The track was "reasonable" and we started off gently, 7.91, our first 7 in the FED. During the day I got a little braver although the car was still all over the place, we ran 7.88, 7.81, 7.64 and 7.56, to say we are all over the moon would be an understatement especially as I had to bail early on the 7.56 due to heading for the wall, the mph was low at just 169 (would have expected 180+ on a 7.5) so things are looking very good indeed. The trans behaived itself and it "seems" to be ok now, a few more runs will confirm for sure its all sorted. The crash crew at around 1/2 track were saying I came past them haizing the tyres which was what was causing the drift action from 1/2 track, not a nice feeling but I managed to keep my foot hard up it for at least 2 of the runs. I'm still on the old tyres I got with the car and the track definatly didn't feel as good as last weekends comp meeting but we are learning quite quickly and we are more than happy to have a 7.5 in the bag with just 11 or 12 runs under our belts. Big thanks to all my sponsers and supporters, without you all it wouldn't be possible, Here's a link to some video's and the photographers there said they got some real good shots so no dought they will turn up in a few days, Robbie.
  4. In the 1st video the shifter solinoid had been unplugged and I didn't know meaning it stayed in 1st :-( Lucky it was just qualifying and being able to stay close to a 6.8 second rail for the first 75 to 100 meters or so (untill I hit the limiter in 1st) made us feel a bit better about it: Then during eliminations the trans started playing up and it got steadily worse till it failed completly in the final meaning we lost, here is a vid of the 1st round where I had the bye for qualifying No1 in Comp, trans already on the way out, hence the poor launch, if only we could have got the launch from qualifying along with the rest of this run it would have been a real solid 7 for sure: Rob
  5. Massive thanks to all my customers, sponsers and supporters, we've had a great year to date and hoping for good things in the next fews months. Robbie
  6. Had 2 or 3 GTRs ino the 10s on 98 pump, probably not the quickest though..... Rob
  7. It was getting a bit hairy and we did everything and more than we set out to do with it, it was basicly a 10 second street car with a 10 second street cage being forced to run 7s so I thought I'd quit while I was ahead/alive. Its been sold into UAE without a motor. Hopefully this new car will be safer and once sorted, quicker/faster. I've done just 2 runs in it, both crap, on and off the throttle, and next weeked we are signed up for the NZ Nationals and being thrown in with some pretty serious high 6, low 7 second cars, its run on index so I still stand a chance against them, hopefully it goes OK, Rob
  8. Big well done mate , good to see the motor is working well for ya and I really regret selling you that trans now, lol. I'll have to find another, keep me posted with how it holds up. Robbie
  9. Here's one we have just finished and just started testing: http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/127197-r-i-p-s-...first-pass.html Build up thread: http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/125363-worlds-f...t-complete.html Rob
  10. I've found the Morosso calculator pretty accurate with most cars. With the higher power ones, its almost impossible to get acurate dyno readings with rolling roads or hub dynos with auto's and big converters but based on weight and mph it seems like a pretty good guide. Mph is where its at as far as whp goes IMO, its possible to get real good ETs with a good chassis etc but the mph V weight still gives a good indication of whp. I saw a car run 7.3 off a 1.0 60ft with less mph than my 240z running 7.8 but I bet if we worked it out off his weight his mph would accuratly reflect whp. Rob
  11. side step = take your foot off. have it in 1st, slowly come up and stage nice and shallow, one staged, keep your foot hard on the brake, bring throttle/rpm up to just before you get wheelspin (or as said above, pull handbrake on hard) experiment with throttle position and rpm till you find just the right spot. Nail the throttle, take your foot off the brake and drop the handbrake all at the same time just as the last orange lights, and 16s to 17s sounds about right to me, I'm not sure what you were expecting? Rob
  12. E-mail me [email protected] and I'll send you pix. Your rail and inj etc can all go straight back on. Rob
  13. I always use street tyres where possible and there is a real trick to tying down a higher power car on rollers. We've had around 750wkw on rollers safe and sound. Due to the trans and rear track of the 240z we were never able to run it on hubs but it would have been interesting to see what it said although it wasn't a big deal as the black dyno tells pretty acurate whp numbers anyway. Rob
  14. This thread was linked from another where a guy asked about doing this. I've read the whole thing and man what alot of mucking round for what is such an easy job. We've done lots of RB26 itb's and plenims (or just the plenim with a single front TB) on R33 RB25 heads and its pretty easy and we charge only nzd600 if the customer supplies their stock 25 plenim base to use as a starting point. It bolts straight back up, your side feeds go straight back in along with the rail and you keep vct etc. Rob
  15. Sounds good, looking forward to seeing the times come down some more. What did it weigh with you in it on the last runs, 1200ish? Nice drifting too btw, still a fair bit of front drive being used at 1/2 track? Rob
  16. Nah, this is a different set up alltogether. The TH400 is all but done, I'm just waiting for the car to get here from overseas thats going to be our test mule. Rob
  17. Well done mate, glad it worked out well for ya. Was good talking to Con last week, we discussed a few things and I told him to go for it as we'd been alot further than you wanted to go with the same bottom end setup. Best of luck mate, get the gas on there and let me know how me old auto goes too Rob
  18. x2, any more info, times/mph etc
  19. Yes, big well done to Jeff to get such a result on radials on Shakespear raceway, no flat shifting either, clutch every gear, and he ran over 156mph on a slower ET run, weight 1740kg. Rob
  20. Sounds great if it works but just so you know 86.5mm is normal for a new RB piston and the design of the custom pistons (other than the bore which at the size you have won't give big cc gains) has nothing to do with capacity. The cc's your talking about have come about from the stroke, not the custom pistons you've had made. What rods did you use? Rob
