  1. Guys In a bit of a delema. I have just pulled out the engine on my R33 GTR and am going to smarten up the engine covers while its out. I was going to go candy apple red but seeing this is very close to the R34 red and this has gotton pretty common I am looking for suggestions. Car is painted in BN6 Deep marine blue and the engine bay is black. What would be a good colour for the cam covers etc? Pics would be appreciated. Cheers
  2. Well I have already made the choice and gone for the GT2860-5. Done the drive thing on a car here in the west with -5 well set up and it was very impressive to say the least. At the price they seem hard to beat. With any luck I can do a before and after sometime in the new year and post the results. Reliability mods going in as well - PFC + EBC, timing belt, sump baffle, oil cooler + relocation kit, 700cc inj, adj cam wheels, new custom dumps/front pipes, high flow cat, JB clutch and new gaskets (thanks to a leaking plenum that started this process in the first place). By by $$$$$.
  3. FWIW I have had an Auscruise AP4400 fitted to a R33 GTR. Works fine, factory style fit onto the steering wheel with electric actuator. Not cheap but no room in a GTR for additional vac receiver for a cheaper vacuum style. And I know "cruise on a GTR" but it helps with the speed camera fines as the detector is not so good on multanova cameras in WA.
  4. Well here we go - Warning on bandwidth
  5. Guys I have been reading this thread with some interest and unfortunately - dismay. I would strongly suggest that those people who are contemplating using the "Patrol" clutch in their Skylines have a good look at the metallurgy associated with each clutch and the design duty. I think you will find the lower revving Patrol clutch uses plain grey cast iron versus SG (spheroidal graphite) iron on the Skyline. The difference being the SG iron is a lot more ductile than grey cast and is less likely to shatter under sharp load up or high revs. You are trying to save a relative pittance compared to an increased chance of nuking a clutch under high rev load. Your call but buyer beware.
  6. Have a look on the for sale section with our sponsors. You may be surprised how cheap they can be especially if you need other stuff at the same time. I was! And have a set on the way with engine management already here from the same supplier.
  7. Found and off to be rebuilt. Thanks guys!
  8. They are the GT2860-5 - check the part number 707160-5 Cheers ps Good luck with the sale
  9. Well not Perth but Bunbury. An I know what you mean - problem is I am waiting for Santa to come in big time - uprated turbs, management, oil cooler, injectors, baffle kit all on the way as well as the timing gears. They say patience is a virtue. Have fun
  10. Been a wtb in the main forum and in the WA section for a while. A couple of possible starters but then gone quiet. Jim says he could supply a new one and go from there but it seems a waste and is more expensive. Cheers
  11. Guys I have been trying to source a R33 GTR std clutch suitable for rebuild (Jim Berry) without much luck. If anyone has one they want to get rid of let me know. As an alternative what other clutch have people used successfully? GTR putting out 300-330 rwkw, mainly street but the occassional drag meet and sprint day. Thanks for your help.
  12. Nesh Likewise on the offer you have PM Will be willing to go up another 20 Let me know
  13. Steve Are you still out there?
  14. Ahhh thank you masters. Grasshopper is learning...........slowly. I am guessing it is a cat cooking warning? What are the issues of not stopping if the cat gets too hot - other than cooked carpet on the passenger side?
  15. Guys Dumb questions 101. Looking at replacing the cat in a GTR and have noticed most replacement/aftermarket cats don't have provision for the temp sensor. Where should this be mounted? Before, after, into the cat itself? All advice appreciated. Cheers
  16. Steve PM sent re bits Let me know how to pay. Chhers
  17. Surely someone must have a std R33 GTR clutch the y want to get rid of. Help. Needed for rebuid.
  18. Hey Snatch Ignore the BS. Don't give up on the forum there are some absolutely top people out there. I have seen best and worst but the best far outway the shiite. Keep at it, learn to drive it over time. I am pretty sure your not Micheal Shumacher so it aint gunna happen over night. Just remember you're running on your $$$ and your smarts. Keep the shiny side up and prove the doubters wrong. Cheers
  19. Radar detectors are not illegal to possess, own or use in Western Australia. Radar blockers or scramblers are illegal as they are an unlicenced transmitter under the telecomunications act. Step over to the "enlightened" eastern of the country and in some states even possession of a radar detector is an offence. It sounds like your unit is on the blink. I'd be taking it back for some testing. You will probably find the boys will set it up along side a known unit and go for a drive. If it still looks sus warrantee claim. Have fun.
  20. Deni PM Sent
  21. Nesh PM sent a while back.
  22. Hey Kermit I'm with Arkon. If you are interested in tackling a R33 GTR big dumps to equal length top pipes I am in too. Car is off the road due to plenum leaking (shiite gaskets) and will be having new turbs, new mgt, oil baffle, oil cooler, clutch, etc while it is out. Here's the chance to cut your teeth on two sets. My thinking would be if you get it close from the engine end a small change from the cat back would be minor. Arkon - you're running GT2860-5 on stock manifolds from memory? Ditto for the mods. Let me know if you are interested and a guess at how much.
  23. Hey Snatch Glad you finally found one. Insurance Arrrrgghh!!! $4k per year - mmm Year1 - New pushbike (no licence), Upgraded susp, brakes Year2 - new turbs, pipes, exh Year3 - .... No doubt will see you out there when I get mine back on the road (that lasted all of 2 weeks since purchase)
  24. Found one thanks anyway. Looking for a R33 GTR standard clutch (and flywheel if available) suitable for rebuild. Upgrade time and want to have a new special built based on the std arrangement. Cheers
  25. R33 GTR standard 10" clutch assembly (prefer including flywheel if possible). Suit rebuild Drag the old gear out the shed and make some beer money. Cheers
